  1. Hi folks,

My wife just got her approval and picked up her visa Friday. I am trying to pay the immigrant visa fee, which is $165.00. I went online and it asks for the case number, then the "A" number. According to her, the only number with an "A" has about 13 numbers with it and doesn't sound like it would be the correct number. When will she get the alien number? I don't know whether to just put "none" and pay the fee or not. Are we missing something?

    Thanks for you help

    Alex

  2. Hi vjers!

Just want to know how many sworn statements from friends and relatives should we submit together with our I-130 Petition as proof or evidence of our relationship?

    Thanks for the help guys!

I submitted 1 from my brother and 1 from my mother. I just had them type out statements that they were fully aware of my ongoing relationship and marriage to my wife. They stated that they had spoken to my wife on numerous occasions via Yahoo chat. They stated that the marriage was bona fide and true. I had them each sign their statement in front of a notary, who of course put her legal seal and signature on each on. The USCIS never questioned me about it, nor did they request additional statements.

  3. Hi Visa Journey People,

I was wondering if you can go have the medical before I get my interview letter? We have sent our DS 230 off at the end of December and the Affidavit of Support off at the end of January and now we are just waiting, or should I wait to get the interview letter?

    Thanks for your help.

Hi. I don't know what you are applying for, but if you look on the uscis website, they tell you don't get any

medical done before they tell you to. In the interview letter, it will tell you to go get the medical done. Our letter was received with over a month to go before the interview. That gives you enough time to have the medical done. You also have to go to one of the approved medical providers they list (You probably already knew that)

    Anyway hope this helps, Alex.

  4. Hi can someone help me here? I have a question. I want to know about a question on the DS-230 form, on question #43a. My husband lives in Italy, but he is a citizen of Nigeria, he has a SSN # but not issued from the US do he put down that # and answer yes or do he say no cause it is not issued from the US.helpsmilie.gif Thank you smile.gif

I agree with Neela. The question is concerning a U.S. ss#, not one from another country.

  5. As the title suggests, tomorrow is our interview, or I should say hers. Please pray for us to get through this peacefully, quickly, and with an approval. We have been apart for so long, and are ready to start our lives together and be wed. Thank you VJ family for your encouragement and help this far.

Please pray for us again I ask.

    THANKS!

She will do great! Stop worrying about it (Easy to say, I know!LOL) Just have faith that she will impress them

as much as she impressed you. Have faith and don't doubt. God knows what is in your heart. Go get her!

  6. Hi All

I submitted my N-400 application on October 2012 and I have been scheduled for interview after two weeks. About 4 years ago , in Chicago, my car was towed away. I paid tow fee to the towing company and the person from the towing company handed me a piece of paper saying I need to mail this along with check of about 60$ (I guess it was 60$ but I am not sure). I asked him what is it for, he simply told me that you need to mail your payment with this paper and you will be fine. After 5,6 months I was told that it was parking ticket and was also told not to worry about it since I already paid for it. I forgot about it and I moved on. This thing happend when I was pretty new in this country, was very new in driving and had got my license just 1 month earlier. Throughout the 5 yrs of stay in US I have never got any other type of ticket. I cannot track down that check because I have already closed the account with that bank about 3 years ago and last week I called the bank and I was told its already closed and they cannot see record of transaction in my account.

I also called Chicago city office and also went to office physically. Both of the time I was told they cannot find my any record in the system. Chicago office searched with my name, Drivers License Number, Vehicle License Plate and VIN Number and nothing was found. I am also not sure whether it was parking ticket or just another type of payment for towing. I don't want to lie with the immigration officer, but if he asks me for the proof of payment, I have nothing to show him. Also it does not show up in my driving record. I did my best to track down the check but I failed.

I am totally stressed what shall I say to IO in interview. Please advice me.

    Thanks

Hi, I am confused as to why this concerns you so much. I looked at the n400 form and didn't see anything that would create a problem for you. I parking ticket is extremely minor, especially if no one can find any record of it.

  7. I believe youd be going through the embassy in Nairobi as the Mauritius embassy does not process K1 visas. From what I can tell the Nairobi embassy does allow for self-sponsoring and co-sponsors. So if your future mother in law is willing to co-sponsor you, you shouldnt have a problem there. Additionally if you met with in the last 2 years and he truly is in prison for 'robbery' then you should not have a problem obtaining the visa.

You should be aware of something called IMBRA. "IMBRA requires that potential US petitioners disclose certain criminal and marital history to matchmaking service companies before the companies may assist them in finding foreign natioanls interest in American suitors. If the US petitioner does not disclose this information to the matchmaking company, he or she must still do so on the fiancé(e) visa application form (Form I-129f). Additionally, when the foreign fiancé(e) applies for the visa at the US Consulate, the Consular officer will ask if the couple met through a matchmaking or dating service and where he or she was made aware of the US petitioner’s criminal and marital history. Failure to disclose will result is a denial of the fiancé(e) visa and can also lead to civil and criminal penalties of up to $25,000 per violation and 5 years in prison."

    US petitioners must disclose:

    1. Domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect, dating violence, elder abuse, and stalking.

    2. Homicide, murder, manslaughter, rape, abusive sexual contact, sexual exploitation, incest, torture, trafficking, peonage, holding hostage, involuntary servitude, slave trade, kidnapping, abduction, unlawful criminal restraint, false imprisonment, or an attempt to commit any of these crimes.

    3. Crimes relating to a controlled substance or alcohol where the petitioner has been convicted on at least three occasions and where such crimes did not arise from a single act.

IMBRA also mandates certain filing limitations be US petitioners. If the US petitioner has filed two or more K-1 visa petitions at any time in the past, or previously had a K-1 visa petition approved within two years prior to the filing of the current petition, the US petitioner cannot obtain an approved Form I-129f without obtaining a waiver of these limitations.

Some of the above can simply mean that a wavier or prior disclosure is needed, others mean the visa is not possible. (things under the Adam Walsh Act)

I am very confused. I work in law enforcement. You made the statement "if you met with in the last 2 years and he truly is in prison for 'robbery' then you should not have a problem obtaining the visa." What are you talking about? Depending on the charge,(aggrevated robbery and how many counts) All robbery convictions are FELONYS. These are all violent crimes. Please explain how you believe it would be not problem obtaining a visa.

  8. Thanks but I'm serious. Life is not a fairy tale for all of us

No offense meant. I really thought it was a prank. You are going to have a very hard time. I work in

law enforcement. If he is incarcerated for failure to appear, expired tags, no proof of insurance, those

are minor offenses and can be overcome. What is he locked up for? Again I was not trying to insult or judge you, it just seemed really strange that you would be wanting to go through this. If I were to look at your situation from someone

who would make the decision, based on what you are saying, there would be no doubt in my mind that this is being done for a green card.

How is this unfair to you?

I'm sorry, but your clarification is still judgmental of her fiance. It's really quite uncalled for. Robbery, as capri pointed out, is not an offence that should prove to be an issue for the USC.

What??? ROBBERY IS NOT AN OFFENSE THAT SHOULD PROVE TO BE AN ISSUE? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

  9. I'm confused a little on this. I'm a US citizen filing the I-130 in the USA and my spouse lives in a foreign country. Do I need to complete the G-325s and mail them in with the I-130 and supporting documents ? If so do I need her to mail me a signed G-325a before I send the packet in ?

    Thank you

Hi. My wife lives overseas and we just received the letter confirming her interview. When we started the paperwork, we had to fill out the G-325's on both of us. The way we did it was, I pulled up the forms on the computer and she gave

me all her information while on the phone. That way I made sure all the information was correct. After we completed the forms, I overnight mailed her G-325 to her for her to sign. She then overnighted it back to me, and in turn I overnighted both to the NVC. There may be an easier way of doing it, but we did not have any questions holding us up either. It was worth the cost of overnighting to me. Small price to pay to get things on track. Hope this helps. Alex.

  10. I received the interview letter for my wife yesterday. Everything looked fine except when I was reading the information about the medical exam it said something about waiting until after your first interview to get the exams done so they don't expire before your second consular interview. How many interviews do you have to do? The Embassy she will be going to is in Accra, Ghana. I haven't read anything anywhere that says two interviews. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  11. Thank you for the support from VJ! My wife's interview date has been schedule for the end of March.

As excited as we are about the date, many questions loomed into our mind about the interview. First of all, is it necessary for her to have all the original documents/evidence (such as receipts, bills for weddings and occassion)? We are thinking about having those documents sent back to VN before interview, but we dont want to lose those documents. We want to send it only if necessary.

Then we thought about the question of whether I (the petitioner) should be there for the interview. I want to be there, but that week school is still in session. How important it is for me to be there at the interview? Would it help speed up the visa approval process?

hi and congratulations on the interview. You don't have to take any documents other than what they have requested. You should have received that information with the interview letter. As far as the petitioner needing to be there, you don't. I have not read or heard where being there makes any difference at all. If you choose to, by all means go, but you are not required.

  12. what the hell with vermount service centre ...why is too late..................many of countries petition approving except pakistani....what the hell with pakistanies..........................all vermount service centre are sons of a ######...

You do realize Pakistan is not a favored country by the U.S. right? No offense but there is a lot of concern

    about that area.

  13. Hi my fiance is being held by ice she came to usa from France on a visa waiver she got married left to france came back 10 days later was married for 5 years and she petitioned for a green card she never got it cause she missed her appointment because she was on vacation now the lawyer is trying asylum is there anything anyone can think of that can help?

To be honest with you, I can't understand a thing you just wrote. No offense, I just can't understand.

  14. Hi all !

I received my interview letter and was going through it. it indicates to bring employment letters as proof and I have two jobs. My 'main' job and a part time piano player at my church. i did send pay stubs for both of them with my 485 package and an employment letter from my 'main' job. should i request an employment letter from my church to show proof of employment or the lat two months of pay stub is sufficient?

    Thanks.

From what I have read and seen, I would take EXACTLY what they are asking for. Don't give them any reason to

need anything else. I would take pay stubs and letters. The way I look at it is I am not going to assume anything

is "good enough." If they want letters, take letters. Better safe than sorry. Good luck! Alex.

  15. I'm the fiance moving to the US. I fill out the G-235 right? Or is it the petitioner who fills it out? Or do we both fill it out?

The G-325 is the biometric form. The way I did it, was to fill out the information for both me and my wife.(2 forms)

My wife is in Ghana and I am a USC. I used my computer to fill in all information and emailed her copy for her to sign and email back to me. Actually, I think I had to print them out and scan them back into my computer first. I then mailed them to the NVC. Both parties, the petitioner and beneficiary, have to fill out and sign their own copy. This helps to prove you are not trying to marry and move to the U.S. because of a financial situation.

  16. Thanks for all the responses. I was just being a bit dramatic. Obviously I can wait...I have so far. But you're support means a great deal.

Don't let some of these people discourage you. I understand your feelings and anxiety of waiting. Just hang in

there as we all are and we will get there eventually. My advice is keep busy and don't over think it. It will

be here before you know it.

  17. I'm sorry Noah Lot, but what gives you the right to tell people what they can and cannot post on here??? As everyone on this site knows, this is a long and stressful process, which at times can be very frustrating. If Mary wants to vent about her particularly frustrating situation, then she should be allowed to do so without being shot down.

For the most part I love the sense of community on here, the feeling that we're all in this together. But people like you do nothing but add to the frustrations of those who are already at the end of their tethers. Kindly keep your unhelpful views to yourself.

    Sorry for venting!

I agree with you. Everyone here has the right to vent if needed, and it seems a lot of times it is needed. If they don't like the venting, then they should close their membership and leave folks alone. Good for you in replying to this inconsiderate person. Regards, Alex.
