  1. Only NVC knows based on in which region beneficiary lives where to forward your file and what documents they must collect before they can forward the file.

So you can't really say "This is not consulate specific". Though there is no place on their website which has mentioned few exceptions for certain consulates about PCC, but they have RFE and approved applicants on a case-by-case based on your situation. So ppl on VJ are providing their personal experiences they have learned from NVC regarding PCC document.

Yes, my spouse will try to get PCC if possible. Otherwise I am going to add a cover letter and specifically mention that local PSK office does require interview letter to issue PCC, and it will be submitted to VFS before interview.

When I mention consulate specific, I think they meant which consulate you would be interviewing at. Anyway If your still doubtful just give NVC a call sometimes in life you need to here it from the source.

  2. There is a standard process to obtain PCC in India, but different states Passport Office follow their own rules to decide when can they issue PCC in your immigration process. So my question is what would happen if I cannot submit PCC to NVC, but the same can be submitted at interview in USA Consulate.

Thanks! That's pretty good :) How did you know that you have talked to NVC Supervisor to confirm this and not the operator? Did you explicitly asked to talk to the Supervisor? And did they give you this answer only after your file was in NVC system? My NOA2 just came in on last Friday, so I think it will take another month to be added in NVC system.

YEs and yes... I had posted about it before after talking to two NVC operators and was met with a bit of confusion from people here on the website. So I called nvc and asked for a supervisor. But yes SMart84 you've got to wait for case number. check out my timeline to figure out how long it will take to get case number.

  3. I have recently with my spouse and local Passport office said that they need interview letter from USA Consulate in India and only on the base of interview letter they will issue Police Clearance Certificate. Otherwise they said they need a document which states that Police Clearance Certificate is requested by USA immigration department with my spouse's name written on the letter.

I see that on NVC website they have listed Police Clearance Certificate as a required document in IV (Immigration Visa) package. But if we cannot submit this document to NVC, will they still complete our file and forward it to USA Embassy in India and schedule an interview?

Does NVC send a letter to petitioner (I am USC and also serving as an agent for this file) with list of all required documents including Police Clearance Certificate as part of their IV package requirement? If so, when will this letter be sent by NVC office?

DON"T Worry ,if your consulate is MUMBai which I think it is it is not necessary...believe me I got confirmation from NVC supervisor.

However you must present it to VFS at time of interview. Don't worry I have the same problem, but mine is I can't get a date at PSK:)

  4. VJ Experienced Members, I need Urgent advice. Is the NVC Case number mentioned on DS-3032 ? If yes where is it? DOS has emailed my wife the DS-3032 and my in-laws have paid the fees and she has forwarded that DS-3032 form which is in PDF format. I prefer just sending NVC the email format which I have seen here on VJ. But where is the NVC case number, I have my USCIS case number. Any suggestions as I don't wanna waste any time.

However, there is alpha numeric # ISL******* *** just below the bar code and after ISL I purposely put * instead of the 10 digits

You have to call NVC (603) 334 0700 They will give you two numbers:Case number and you must ask for invoice Id number. However if your spouse payed the AOS bill, she must have recieved an email in regards to the case number.

  5. Hello my dear Vj,

I am so so so happy today, I just received my husband's Case number and Invoice number and I provided the lady on the phone our email addresses.

What do we need to do next? Bcos she said just wait till the fee is generated.

Should I ask the beneficiary to re-send the choice of agent email? So they can skip sending me the snail mail DS3032? :innocent::unsure::help:

Don't resend DS-3032! It's there just wait till they get to it.

  7. Yes it is important to send in your police clearance certificate along with the ds230 packet. If not, you'll just be delaying your process at NVC.

I'm not sure where you got this information from.

I called the NVC 2 times and they told me that for mumbai consulate it was not required

I was very worried about it cause my husband could only get a date for the pcc on the 19th so thats why i called

  8. HI!

I'm now waiting for my hard copy NOA2.

Once I receive it should I call NVC to get my case number?

And after they give it to me do I hunt down the forms I need myself? The info out there is very confliting... Some says not to send any forms until they have sent them to you first...others say not to wait on the NVC. I need someone who got from NVC to consulate of Haiti very quickly (or other consulates) to tell me exactly what they did.

Please help!

Im not sure about haiti... But in general the only thing you wait for is your cae number. Everyday you'll have to call them eventually they will give you a case number. You then should ask the operator for your invoice ID and give your email address and the email address of the beneficiary.next send your ds-3032via e-mail format(see this website for more detail) and then in a few days they'll send the AOD bill...you pay it. In like 2 days or so the paying portal will show PAID.

Then you send completed AOS and in a few days the IV bill will be ready ,pay it. When the portal shows IV PAid,then you send your DS-230

  9. I have a question...i am reading this forum non stop basically...but i still have questions,yes :)

Ok...i am the beneficiary ,and soon i'm about to fill out ds-230...my question is....can i download the form from the internet, and start filling it out...or NVC will send me a bar coded copy, which i'll have to use?

    Thanks in advance!

No, The bar code thing is the coversheet that you get after you pay the fee. You should start filling right away:) of course it can't be sent unless IV Bill says its paid. Hope that's helpful:)

  10. Hey JTSG,

Your household size should be 2 -> you and your husband. For 21a, enter your 1 husband, and 21b is automatically selected for yourself. 21c is confusing because you should enter "1" if you are married but you cant count anyone twice. Enter "0" for 21c because you already counted your husband in 21a. For 21d-g, enter "0" for each of them. For 21h, enter"2" for your household size. In my experience, it's better to try to avoid the I-864A unless you don't have a choice because with the I-864A, you need to prove household membership, and you don't need to with the I-864.

As for your dad, he should file a separate I-864. If he makes enough money according to the Poverty Guidelines by himself, then your mom doesn't need to go through the hassle of filing an I-864A.

For example, your dad's household consists of 4 people: himself, your mom, you, and your husband. As long as he makes at least $25,000 a year, then your sponsorship package only needs your I-864, and your dad's I-864.

If he makes less than $25,000 a year, then your mom will have to combine her income with his and file an I-864A.

Thanks so much for your advice!!

I'm just so lost in all this legal lingo. So basically I need to make my I-864 household 2 and my dad's 4. on my I-864 they'll basically be 0 finacial as I'm a student and make no money..right?

  11. HI EVERYONE!:) I have a specific question: My dad is filing a I-864 as a joint sponsor and my mom is filling the I-864a as his household member. I have no income, as I am a student, and their dependent. In my I-864, do I mention them as part of my household and have them both fill out the I-864a? Or do I tally my household as just me and my husband? So confused ...don't want to make a big mistake PLEASE HELP!!!!!!:):) :bonk::crying:

  12. i got my case number today and communicated both adress emails but no IIN

Is this normal??? pLZ Let me know how long should i wait to GET the IIN .

Actually I called again today to make sure they got my email and the operator took down my email address and said that the other operator I talked to must have made a mistake. So I gave it. For the IIN number you have to ask them sometimes also get the beneficiary number as well. Call asap!!!:)

When I received my case number, the operator took down the email addresses, I was not asked to email them in.

Well turns out I called again today and they took down my email addresses and said the other operator was suppose to take it down but didn't. Strange right!:)_

  14. Hello,

I am an US Citizen. My wife is an Indian Citizen. I am almost done with the I-130 packet. Have one final question. On G-325A form, I need to provide my wife's maiden name. Now, my wife doesn't have any family name (last name) listed on her current Indian Passport. But, on some other official Indian documents such as driver's license, marksheets/certificates from college/school, she does have a family name. So, on G-325A form, should I leave her maiden name as blank since there is none on her passport, or do I use the one she has used on other docs??

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks!!
