  1. @Payal Sharma,

Thank you for the advice. I hope you would be able to check your email on 26th post interview, so that you may share your review.

All eyes on the calendar for 11/27 blink.gif

    Hi,

    Mine interview is on 11/26/2012.

As far as hotel is concerned, I came to know about this hotel called " The legend"

    www.legendhotel.in

    Wadkar C.N.

    General Manager

    Hotel The Legend (09619757544)

I have read the reviews as well and it is good I guess. Check this and find out.

  2. Folks..Sorry was bit late to the missing list party...

Thank you one and all for replying on this thread...

Called the Mumbai Consulate Helpline today ( Monday) and there is absolutely nothing to worry it seems. The October list has been updated in the same way as per my conversation with other VJ'ers.

I am going to call the doctor's office to book the medical screening appt soon! Also, Is people attending interview during the same week as mine..did you guys plan anything for travel/boarding accommodations?

I've read reviews about hotels close to Mumbai consulate from makemytrip.com and they are totally scary. Any suggestions are welcome :)

  3. Fellow VJ'ers,

Mumbai consulate published an updated interview schedule today for OCT 2012 and new schedules for NOV 2012. I couldn't find either my case # or the day of the interview on the Nov 2012 list. Is this sounding normal to anyone?

Can my email confirmation about the interview date from NVC act as my Packet 4 for now to proceed to a medical interview? Please advice.

    Thanks.

    REF::http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/interview_appt_schedule.html

  4. The interview wait time depends on case backlog at the local consulate in Stockholm. I have heard of people complaining to have to wait from anywhere between 1 month to 10 months. You will be notified aleast 3 weeks before interview, allowing you to prepare and attend for medical examination.

Unless you were told by NVC that the case is completed and your case is being sent to local consulate, you should not be sure about guestimating the wait time. Ppl experienced delays waiting for interviews only to find out later that NVC has not marked the case as complete due to missing paperwork. So do confirm this first.

I'm expecting our case will be completed this week or next, and because I'm planning a trip I'm wondering how long it usually takes after that to receive an interview date, and how far in advance I'll be notified. I'm interviewing in Stockholm and I have heard of one very long wait, but hopefully it doesn't reflect the norm!

  5. Couple of things affect the date of validity for CR-1 visa :

    >Time when you attended the medicals.

    >expiration of passport.

Your application for GC will automatically will be triggered by the CBP at POE. They will process to send the card to the US address you mentioned in either DS 230 and takes anywhere between 3-6 weeks.

The CR-1 visa is supposed to be valid for two years, right? So does that Green Card get stamped on entry in the U.S.? Or does that get sent in the mail to our apartment address?

    Thanks

  6. Coolest ever thing you did with tracking!

I wish people see this post and come up with their timelines so that we can predict what exactly NVC does with case files after they mark as case complete.

hi dear VJ family, i got curious and decided to do some tracking of parcels from NVC EXP 19 SEP 2012A, then i saw the following parcels. qtn could they be for the ones who

got their interview dates recently.. really hope they are....

  7. don't know what the heck Mumbai is doing!! they still have not posted Oct schedule yet. I've been checking past few months and they never delayed posting for this long.

anyway, not much we can do except wait... if not late Oct, hope we get early Nov date.

Well, Mumbai consulate just has to accept the fact that it cannot handle the traffic that came out of Chennai consulate..If they can't fit in interviews they better move it to New Delhi rather than making us sit back and wait..

  8. Just to mention, the guy in the video was attending the Non-Immigrant visa line which is why there are long waiting lines. Do remember, USC spouse is not required to accompany and can skip the trip.

This video helped my spouse to understand what is it like inside and how it works..Trust me it takes away 25% of stress( my spouse claimed).

OMG i cant stop laughing from that movie......I literally fell off my chair laughing....Wow

If this is what am going to encounter when I go to a joint interview with my husband in India...I'll need a lot of patience....The line was huge and waiting period as well...Its all good...Getting to that point will be great...

    Thanks for sharing that video....

I would agree with himm don't listen to anyone else...Answer honestly. The long line outside the embassy I wonder if thats what you encounter....So whats the point of coming early if your scheduled interview will be done at the same time?

  9. Folks,

As a CEAC website addict, today I could not access the website anymore and encountered this message.

    Case Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please contact the National Visa Center if you believe that you have received this message in error.

Does this mean any good? :hehe:

Searching past forums suggest that the case is scheduled for interview or NVC is just plain bored and doing this stuff. :bonk:

    Tks,

    wait4mycall.

  10. It depends on RPO person at that time. In our case they didn't seem to care and issued the RPO PCC. The content of PCC is what matter, make sure there are no typo's in NAME, DOB and most importantly the passport #.

    Hey Guys,

I am trying to get PCC certificate for my wife from Indian Passport office and i was told by someone ,when you apply for PCC and if your current status is Married you will be required to update the passport with spouse name added to it and it could delay the process. Or they just ignore it and provide the PCC. anyone experienced the same or i am just worrying for no reason.

  12. Travisa is handling all the services related to Indian passport and renunciation services for ex-India citizens.

You can book an appointment and fill out a renunciation form, pay the fee online and attend the nearest Travisa office. They will return the passport by the end of the day or send it to you at a nominal shipping charge.

Your old passport will be returned with a canceled stamp on it and a banded together ( yes ..using a rubber band) with a paper/application you filled out online saying the renunciation has been acknowledged. Do not separate them on your trip to India or India IO's can cause enough pain to make things straight. So on your next trip to India you will travel with a Old India passport, the renunciation form and the POE card/ US passport.

My husband got US passport...and he want to get OCI(overseas citizen of India)..

First we have to surrender our Indian passport to embassy right..

How to surrender his passport to it..plz help..

    Thanks in advance..

  13. Hello All,

So today my wife receiver her passport stamped with the temporary I-551 stamp with a validity for 5 months.

The CR-1 visa is supposed to be valid for two years, right? So does that Green Card get stamped on entry in the U.S.? Or does that get sent in the mail to our apartment address?

    Thanks

Congratulations! Could you take some time to post review of the consulate you attended?

  14. I am asking this on behalf of a friend of mine. She (a USC) and her husband (an Indian citizen and former green card holder) have been married for 28 years and now live in India. They lived in the US for 26 years and his green card recently expired.

Before that happened, my friend petitioned for him to get back into the US. Here's where things get funky. She said that she filled out all the paperwork and the USCIS was supposed to send her Packet 3. I asked her if she was sure that this is what they said she needed to fill out (I knew she had to do packet 4) and she confirmed. She sent it in and hasn't heard from them since... that was a year ago.

I suggested that she contact her home senator, but I honestly think she needs to start from scratch. What should her next course of action be in order to get her and her husband back to the US?

In this particular case, what is the best option?

I am thinking that your friend should be able to submit paperwork using Direct Consular Filing ( DCF) process if she got recognized herself as US expat in the local FRO. DS-130 and IR1 are the next steps to follow.

  15. Can someone scheduled for Mumbai october interview check to see if their case is still accessible on CEAC? https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx

And did all of the people scheduled already received their email confirmations too?

My wife's case is still accessible on CEAC and her case got approved on 08/21, but the case is still available on CEAC. Didnt get a chance to call NVC yet.

    Thanks!

Well I tried doing so and can access the CEAC site. My case complete date is 8/28 though! The NVC as usual said that Case is still with them and they are trying to establish contact with Mumbai to set an interview appt.

  16. Same here. We have a NVC case complete date of August 10th 2012 and waiting for interview date for Mumbai Consulate...This wait is freaking ridiculous.. i don't know why US Citizens have to wait for 9 freaking months to be united with their spouse while these stupid fools on H-1 visa can bring their spouse along with them.. this is RIDICULOUS... i know most of you can feel my anger at this sheer stupid immigration policy... :ot2:

But just called NVC again and the lady said that they scheduele interviews for next month in the 2nd week of previous month and to check back next week to see if we made it to September scheduele or not.

This wait is a freaking killer!!!!!

Your wait and agony is understood but your comment on H-1 visa beneficiaries is not reasonable. Good luck and believe in Karma :clock:
