  1. Yep, that happened to me, when I received my greencard we went to SSA to have my name changed and then we went to DMV that same day only to be told they cannot processed my application because they need to verify my SS # with my new name on it.. What I did was I called SSA 4 business days after i had my name changed and asked them if my new name has been verified and she said 'yes, you can go ahead and continue your application at DMV'.. I suggest you call SSA first to make sure before going there not knowing wether your wife's new name has been verified or not..

She already has her ss card with her married name on it, that wasnt the problem. We needed to use the ead as a "photo id"; that is a requirement to get a state license. She could have used her passport as a photo id, but she already changed her name and its a pain in the butt to replace a foreign passport just for the purpose of a name change. We will just wait a week and go back down there.

Wait for at least 10 business days

10 business days from when the card is valid from 2/15, or when we received the card 2/25?

  2. Hello,

Need some help here in TN. My wife finally got her EAD card in the mail yesterday (2/25/13). It has a valid from date of Feb 15, 2013 on it. Much to our surprise, we went to the DMV here so she could take her written test, and we needed to use the EAD as her form of ID because she already got her surname changed (But not on her passport); they said "IM SORRY ITS NOT IN THE SYSTEM?" and they would have to do some kind of verification form for it.

They said it was on immigration and that they havent put it in the system yet. Has this ever happened to anyone before? And how long should we wait till we go back to the DMV?

  3. We got our NOA1 Dec 12 or so, and she already had her bio appt in Jan....still waiting and im @#@&@$ sick of this ######. We waited for over 8 months for a k1 visa in the Philippines, and now i get to wait AGAIN and AGAIN. It seems like throughout this whole process we are getting the short end of the stick.

Its like every step we have to wait even longer than everyone else does. USCIS needs to fix the system now, before we even think about helping out all these illegals. Sorry for venting its frustrating when every single step of this ordeal exceeds your expectations. They sure are quick to take my grand though,,oh that was as soon as they got the papers. At least we are together, i'm grateful for that. Happy Valentines day everyone!!

  4. Oh yes! Mine had an update, Ready for pick-up, now it's out for delivery! Thank God! Can you track yours now through the 2gowebsite or do you already have it? Please tell me when you do. Thank you so much!

Will do ours changed to out for delivery last night, still waiting; ill update as soon as it changes before we leave for moa (hopefully!!)

no, the 2go website doesnt say ######

  5. Hi. I had my interview last friday, and since monday, I've been checking my status with passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com. It's not really that reliable. But today my status is: The current status of your passport is Returned to Post. Is this good or bad? Anybody having the same situation?

yea ours said that too(btw our pickup is at moa), then it went to ready for pickup/ now its out for delivery

  6. ok, so for income you mean her salary?a full time job?

Because my fiancee has a part time job and bonds and some other money.

Isn't it enough to have $18,912 in the bank account? Or you absolutely have to have a full time job?

P.s.: tomorrow I will try to complete the timeline, I have to get back home -_-

OK, what ever she makes(assuming she is the one immigrating to the USA) doesnt matter, it depends on him(American).

He has to make = to 18,912 usd per year.

OR whatever he doesnt make, he can use assets but it has to equal 3X the amount so if he only makes 8,912 per year(or she does as a co sponsor), then you would need 3X the amount = to 30,000usd in assets.

i.e. money in the bank, stocks, bonds, etc.

  7. Wow! Good luck to you too then! That's horrible, all that and still denied?? We're not loosing hope, we'll keep applying over and over... maybe they'll get sick of seeing us.

I had no clue that the US policy was so warped! Didn't they just grant around 800,000 illegals in the country amnesty? Yet tourist visa's for spouses, who can apply for an immediate family member greencard get turned away?

    I'm confused...

Sure u may think that way, but immigration officials say its illegal to travel on a tourists visa with ill intent on immigrating. If you purpose was to immigrate than u apply for an immigration visa not a tourist. It has nothing to do with 800k illegals, they are not spouses of us citizens but came as children with their parents.

I know its a broken system, but we cant fix it...

  8. I'd understand if she was just a tourist. But she is married to an American citizen. She could stay in the US if we chose to, just file another application from there. How is that reason to not believe her, & me?

They specifically said that the problem is she is married to a US citizen... If she wasn't they would have given the tourist visa!

So what if she did stay after we arrived? Then we could just file the paperwork from there, and adjust status. There seems to be no legitimate reason for them to keep the wife of an American citizen out of the country. She offered documentation, and they did not even want to see it...

Because lots go on tourist visas because they dont want to go through the long process of a cr1 or k1 visa. This happens a lot thats why so many people are denied tourists visas, because they infact abuse the system and staying in the us after they arrive including spouses of us citizens.

Its a lot faster than waiting 8 months for an immigrant visa.

  9. I have the same problem with you guys and my interview last Nov. 5 and they still haven't forward my passport in 2GO so we didn't think it would be forwarded by the time of my flight on Nov 17 so we reschedule my flight on Nov 24..Thanks God I attend CFO seminar before my interview.

wow what is up, y does it take so long to get the visa...its always something

  10. you need your passport it says

yea maybe as a form of id. u dont need visa to get certificate just go get it. when u get visa u go in there and register and they

stamp ur passport (or give u a sticker)...so if ur in a hurry u dont have to spend a whole day with the cfo seminar, u just go in and 10 minutes later walk out good to go and u can go get ur flight that day if u wanted to.

  11. Hello VJ'ers people how's everybody? Here I am again with some question to ask. How many days before you can recieve your visa if it's delivery? Can we call Embassy to ask about the status of my visa? If it's still in embassy can i just pick up my visa in there office? I'm so worried bcoz my flight will on November 17 and i need to go in CFO also to get sticker in my passport. Please need you opinion with this I really appreciate all you comments..God BLess...By the way, my interview last november 06,2012

Hello, here is a link to a number you can call for your status

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/398158-k1k2-visa-finally-delivered-today-monday-930am/

we had our interview on the 9th of nov, and that was the last thing the representative af the last window asked me "You didnt alreaDY buy your ticket did you? Some people get excited and already buy their tickets." Hopefully you will get yours today or tmrw, and good you already got the cfo seminar completed. You should be fine.

You mights wanna also call the 2go office where you wanna get it delivered (if you chose this)and you inquire if they are scheduled to receive your package. As far as i know, no, you cannot just go to the embassy and pickup up the visa.

Good luck and keep us posted when u receive the visa.

  12. Hello everyone

We just received our NOA2 this past Monday. Do they text us when the NVC receive it? Also does anyone here have any insight for K-2 when they go to interview. My step son to be is 12 and a little nervious on what to expect at the embassy. Any information will be most helpful. Thanks so much. Best of luck to all in your journey.

Yea talked to NVC last night, they wont send you anything nowadays, you have to call in you want any info on your case.

  13. Hello everyone

We called after a week and got our case number.

  14. We had our NOA2 almost two weeks ago but have heard nothing from the NVC.

Should we be calling the NVC or US Embassy in London ?

Am confused as to who i need to call to chase, have called NVC many times and just told to keep waiting.

Any one got some advice ?

    Thanks

i would call NVC every day if i was u, so NVC has no record of receiving ur case?

  15. Hi i was wondering if anyone here could tell me is it true what i heard that 50 percent of k1 visas are denied at the embassy interview in manila?

Where did you read this, im not sure but i read a lot of the manila consulate reviews and while this is just a small percentage of the actual applicants most seem like they pass to me. Unless they leave out something as standard as NBI clearances or an affidavit of support. Then they just get the 221G

  16. Hello everyone,

I contacted the NVC yesterday about my case. The gentleman I spoke with was very nice and patient. He took the time to explain some things to me that all of you waiting might find helpful while you wait. First of all VJ .com is not official website of the USCIS. On VJ .com the current processing time is March 14. The official USCIS is current time is Feb 27 that is the date they go by. So if your case is before Feb 27th then you should contact them they process by month more than by the date that is why approvals are so random like one is approved withe date 3/8 the next is approved 3/26. So if your date is between the 2 then then they are working on your block but just haven't got to your case yet. USCIS update its offical website about the middle of each month. I hope you all waiting find this useful info. He also stated once approved thing go much faster and more interaction between you and the USCIS. I wish you all success and godspeed in your case!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, are you confused? NVC is where your case goes AFTER USCIS(VSC or CSC) approves it and sends your NOA2. You shouldnt be calling them as they are part of DOS, not homeland security (USICS) which is processing your I-129F application. I think you mean you called someone else. Anyways just hold on they are doin early March right now it wont be long now have patience ours took over 6 months.

  17. It's okay NYYankees. As we talked about yesterday, I never received my email notification either - for NOA2 or NOA1 (even though I used the G-1145 form). But I have no doubt that your paper NOA2 will be showing up in a few days - as will mine. Good luck to you all the rest of the way. And since we were approved on the same day, maybe our fiancees will interview on the same day, too! :)

We actually just got our NOA2 in the mail on saturday!!
