  1. I filed the I-130 for my husband and 3 stepkids- I rcvd and RFE requesting the marriage certificate for my husband and his former wife from the early 1990's (which I do not have)---they want verification that they were actually married. She passed away prior to us meeting. I provided USCIS with our marriage certificate, the kids birth certificates and her death certificate; therefore I'm not sure why their marriage certifcate is significant? The local court in Nigeria (where they were married) does not have any records from that time period and the marriage registry in Lagos says that they do not keep marriage records on file and not sure why the Travel.State website says so? I have an affidavit from the Pastor in Nigeria who married them at that time. What do I do? Has anyone from any other country had a similar issue?

  3. Hi everyone--- Could someone please tell, as of recent, how many passport photos does the Police in Lagos require for a police record? I have heard various (2 and 4), but does anyone know who has had it done recently? My husband is getting his finger prints done in Accra, where he lives, and sending them to Lagos.

    Thanks!

  4. Hi everyone,

I have petitioned for my husband and 3 stepchildren. Although the I-130 is still pending, I want to be proactive. Will I need a separate DS230 for my husband and each of the kids, or just 1 for him? And if so, since they are minors, will he need to sign the DS230 for each of the kids?

    Thanks

  5. Hi godisgood74!

That sounds good! This is a whole new experience and is sooo extensive. My husband is getting the new versions of their birth certificates now, and someone is helping me get the certified copy of our marriage certificate from Abuja- so I'm just trying to get everything in order before the NOA2, so that I can zip through the NVC!

  6. Nigeria police reports are only good for 3 months, so he will need to time it right..the best way to get the report is to go to Nigeria and can cost anywhere from 5000 to 8000 naira depending on his negotiating skills. The other way would be to go to www.nigeriacrb.com and download the form, get a police officer in Ghana to do the prints and send the form to a friend or family member in Nigeria to go to Ikoyi to get it. So , either he pays for a flight or pays through the nose for it and stays in Ghana. Good luck with your journey.

It would be difficult/time consuming for him to go there just for that. He has a friend in Lagos who will go for him. So, I should just download and send my husband the form to have fingerprinted in Ghana, then send that to his friend in Lagos?

    Thanks- that really helps!

  7. Hi all,

My petition for my husband is still pending at VSC, however, I wanted to begin getting things together. He will need to obtain a police report from Lagos, Nigeria. However, he lives in Ghana (he lived in Nigeria in his early twenties). How much does the police report cost in Lagos? What will he need to send to Lagos? Fingerprints, etc? Thanks!
