I am just wondering how long after the biometrics you here from USCIS. I only had my Biometrics a week and a half ago so it wasn't very long ago, but this process is all very new to me.
Thanks!
On my experience, I received my EAD 21 days after my biometrics appointment.
-
Yes! He told me if I want to change my last name to my hubby's, I have to do biometrics again, which takes another 2 or 3 months!
And I believed it!
I'm sorry about that. Your right that your IO is being an A** for not letting you do that name change. Luckily our IO was nice enough to give in to my request.
Are you in the process of changing it?
-
Good for you!! I guess my IO was just being an A**hole, he denied my request.
He denied your request on changing your name?
I went to SS yesterday with my changed name on my GC so hopefully everything's OK when SS verifies it in USCIS
-
Congrats.. You shouldn't have any problem. Just take your social security card, marriage certificate, GC and DL to the SSA and do a name change. You will receive your unrestricted card in the mail within 2 weeks, with that you can change your name on your DL, at your job, school, banks whereever. Also they will take the restricted card. Goodluck and enjoy being Green...
I see well thanks for the heads up I need to do a lot of updating my information
-
Just received my GC with my married name can't believe it
Now have to update my info on my SS and my ID, hopefully no problems on that
-
Well maybe they will update it within next week plus she explained the ROC process
-
I'm trying to make info pass but there's no available yet..the agent last time said call them back on Oct 9 if I didn't hear anything....
Try to have your lawyer do his job as well that's why you hired him to work on your case. And yeah call the USCIS every now & then
-
I filed my papers with my married name. Usually they are good with changing your name at the interview....
i see...i thought i'm going t receive my GC today but its not in the mailbox yet
-
No. My GC comes in my married name so I did a legal name change yesterday...
I see but did you file the application with your maiden name?
I'm wondering because my SS# is in my maiden name and I requested a name change during the GC interview so
I'm waiting for my GC to come and see if they changed my name
-
You can but a greencard is proof that you are legal to work so I don't think it would matter anyways. Its free so why not. Ill change mine only because I'm doing a name change
Did you request for a name change during the GC interview?
-
We did not prepare for the "age difference" per se, as, to the letter of the law it does not matter. The ONLY thing that matters is the legitimacy of the relationship and to that end a couple living together and sharing same abode, accounts etc as well as at least SOME common interests (lol) should have no issues with the examiner. My caveat though is "my experience" is this one time and I do not have a great deal of experience to draw on, but my "gut" feeling was confirmed by this examiner who seemed very fair and open minded. All FWIW and IMHO only.
Best wish, good luck and thanks for your comments!
We were interviewed in Seattle as well and the IO was very nice not much of questions just the mandatory and basic stuff
Have you received you GC already?
-
Congratulations

Just make sure your I-693 is sealed that came from the USCIS assigned surgeon / doctor.
We sent the original notarized marriage certificate on I-130 because we have few more copies.
You can also add the W2 of your petitioner together with the payment stubs and tax returns
Goodluck on your process
-
hey goodluck on your interview let us know what happen

Good luck on your interview
-

Just got home from having lunch for some kind of celebration after we got Approved from our interview.
We were scheduled around 11:15 AM, we got there like 10:45 AM passed the security and handed the receptionist the Appointment Letter and told us to go to the 2nd floor and wait for our name to be called.
When we got there we saw a lot of people already waiting for their time to be interviewed.
We got our name called like almost 12:00 noon. The IO greeted us how are we and apologized for the delay because they have a lot of people there that are for Naturalization process / oath taking.
He led us to his office and asked us that before we sit down he has to make us oath to tell the truth on all the questions and after that he let us sit in.
He introduced himself and asked for our IDs just to verify that we are the people were supposed to be
I gave my state ID my husband gave his DL and he returned it back to us and he said he will ask the questions first on me the applicant.
Asked basic questions in the I-485 Form about full name, address, birth date and he started reading on the form the date when I came here.
Then he went through some of the questions in I-485 about that "have you been" and all my answer is NO.
After that he said now either of you can answer my next questions. He asked us how long have we known each other, how long have we been together, how did we met and my husband as person that knows how to talk to people did most of the talking but I did some a little bit like when we went on some trip and stuff like that and the IO even is laughing with us. He then asked me if I like living here, what did I like here compared to California and Philippines so I answered that in a very relaxing way but my husband said after the interview my voice is a little bit shaky.
After that he asked for some pictures so we showed him our photo album which we arranged in a certain timeline like when we first met, our travels, and described it to him when it was, who are the people who are with us but he's not asking us we are just describing it to him. Then he passed some pictures and looked on our wedding pictures and we said that it was just a simple ceremony not a lavish kind of wedding.
He also asked for any documents to support the marriage so I handed him our joint bank account statement, credit card info, costco information, power and cable bill. He looked a little bit on it then he said I have nothing much to say except that I will approved you guys right now  except that he said the system is down or something but he told us within the day we should receive an update on our case status.
He said I will get a conditional GC for were only married for less than a year and we should received it within 7-10 days, and explained to us filing I-751 within the 90 day period of expiration, and he said 3 years from today I can apply for my Naturalization. After that he asked if we have any questions.
I asked if I can have my name change to my husbands last name and he said yes and he asked what would be my middle name (like a second name) and I don't have one so I got confused with that and my husband asked the IO what can he advised us so he said just have your maiden name as your middle name so that's it. He printed a form and have us checked if everything is correct so hopefully when I get my GC my name is changed to my husband's last name.
And that's it. He's super nice and relaxed, no problem at all. We stood up and my husband hugged me right in front of the IO and we went out of the office and he escorted us out of the hallway and told us to have a great day.
And an hour ago received a text from USCIS Case Status: Card/Document Production.
Now just have to wait to receive my Green Card.
Thank God its done were both relieved and happy and its just such a peace of mind to have it done.

Congratulations...geez I'm getting nervous about my coming interview
Hope everything works out well

Did you try changing it by clicking on your name on the top right corner, then clicking settings. Under 'your options', click profile and then change profile info - it's almost at the bottom of the page. I just tried and it worked here.
Yep, good luck searching for a job.
Thanks for the info now my profile is updated.
Yeah I am looking for job right now but I'm confused if I should because I still have my pending GC
-
Yep, your EAD is the authorization from DHS(department of homeland security). Happy job hunting Your profile says you're a cR1/IR1 - might be a good idea to change it to adjustment of status since it helps people to guide you better.
I've tried to change it to AOS it will not change it
I wonder if I should delete my timeline just to able to delete it
Hopefully can get a job
-
I'm adjusting my status from b1/b2 and already received my EAD card
I'm waiting for my interview for my GC now I don't know if I can look for job now that I have my EAD & SS#
-
I received my SS# now I want to know what does this mean: Valid for Work only with DHS Authorization.
-
I kind of have the same situation except I have I-94.
I used my maiden name on all my application even though we already got married. On our marriage certificate, my maiden name is what I used because I only have my passport when we applied for marriage license.
We sent I-130 first because we got confused about attaching evidence of an approved petition to I-485. So we sent I-130 first then waited around 4 months and we got approval no RFE. After that we sent I-485 & I-765 with the attached I-130 approved petition packet with my maiden name still. Got my biometrics done and received my EAD card. No RFE in between those process now were scheduled for an interview. I already applied for SSN with my maiden name because that's what's written on my EAD just waiting for it to come to the mail.
So based on my experience so far, I think it's better for you to use her maiden name and just do all the necessary changes after everything gets approved
-
Were in the same local office I wonder if we will get interviewed separately as well hope not.
Anyways, try to talk to immigration lawyer i think that's the only option you have right now
I wonder what triggered them to do a house visit. Even if he moved, there should be some trace of his existence in your place like his clothes, pictures, etc.
