  1. In reality there is no harm with a long processing time of ROC, since you can still come and go and work in the US.

Unfortunately I can't renew my driver's license with the extension letter, as they see that as a "temporary status", because I could be "removed from the US at any time". So I have a 90 day temporary license, can't get student loans (I am a student) or a credit card to help raise my credit rating. Not sure if this is just a NJ thing, or if other states are similarly pig-headed.

  2. What happens if they request more information and you have nothing else? We don't have joint bills, a lease/mortgage with both of our names, wills, medical power of attorney, or bank statements for a joint account. We do have a joint account, but it is new and we have no statements from it. We only have 15 days left to file, so we can't wait any longer.

We have: car insurance, health insurance, last years' taxes, bills showing the same address (though mine is a year old, I have no regular bills), bank statements showing same address, a dozen or so pictures of us together, and a city news website that has a picture of us together in an article.

We don't mind having to do an interview, but are worried that we will be denied for lack of physical evidence without being offered an interview.

  3. I would NEVER have thought to get a joint bank account. No one I know has them, not a single person in my entire family. Parents have been married 45 years and still keep everything separate. They would have the same issues we are with evidence.

Our vet bills are under separate names, in separate files. My parents pay for whatever I can't afford, not my husband, so I have no bill evidence. And I have no prescriptions.

When we contacted the bank about adding me to his cards we were told no, I need a credit score to be added. My current credit score is listed as 0.

They make the evidence part really hard for those of us that don't have much.

  4. No mixed finances at all, my income is too small to even bother with a bank. And with no credit score I can't get a credit card, or be added to one of his.

As for titles he won't let me add my name to his because his ex wife literally took everything he had and he won't risk it again. My vehicle is under my father's name.

What happens if we don't have enough evidence? Can we use testimonials from friends/family/coworkers?

  5. Due to some un-avoidable circumstances we don't have anything like a deed or lease with both of our names, nor do we have joint bank accounts (we've both been robbed by exes). So I am worried that we won't have enough evidence.

    What we have:

Health insurance (only has his name on it, but lists a family member)

    Car insurance (both names)

    Taxes (both names)

Phone bill (should have both names)

    Mail with same address

    Pictures

No travel documents etc because we drive everywhere. Not sure how to get more evidence, and we've been trying everything. We HAVE to file in the next 2 weeks.

  6. Once I receive my EAD card I plan to go ahead with my plans to open a bath and body business. I have done a lot of research online to make sure that this is allowed, but have so far come up empty handed! Anyone around here started a business with an EAD? Will be mostly online and wholesale to local shops.

  7. When I went in with my I-94 they said it had to have 60 days before expiration to be valid for their use. Which wasn't going to happen because I was told to wait at least 30 for my SSN which I also needed for the license. Hoping my EAD/AP card will work. The site now says that my EAD card is in production and my AP was approved!! Here's to hoping I get it before my scheduled tip in 26 days!!

    Thanks guys! I appreciate everything!

  8. Grats! You're so lucky!!!

We applied in May, and were transferred to CSC in June. Still waiting (very anxiously) for EAD and AP. No changes on the website, though I understand they kind of suck at updating that. I can't even get my drivers' license until I get my GC due to some idiots at Motor Vehicles. Right now I just want my AP so I can go visit my extremely elderly Grandparents next month! Wish there was some way I could poke USCIS to get my that AP! They have the dates we are supposed to travel but I doubt that will help anything!

  9. I guess this is a good place for my questions too. In Part 3 it asks about a planned trip, which we do have, but I also need an AP for emergencies. Can I do both on the same sheet? Where should I list that the AP would be for emergencies? On a separate page like the instructions for part 7 request? My grandparents are in their 90s, really need to be able to go for emergencies if needed.

    Thanks again guys!
