  1. Ok i am hoping someone can clear something up for me. I'm a little confused. We filed our I-751 a few weeks ago. Yestreday my husband got his NOA1. But it said his conditional resident status is extended for one year. Why only one year? Isn't the green card supposed to last like 10 years? Does this mean we have to do this again next year? Or does this mean they rejected our application and only are giving him a one year extention? Someone please explain.

  2. My fiance had his interview at the embassy in algiers on March 28th. he was approved. He still has not received his visa and passport. I checked the state department website and it says the visa has been issued and printed as of April 10th. So why has it not been sent to UPS yet? I know the visa has an expiration date, but i am not sure when it is. Is there anything we can do? How can we find out what is going on? Has anyone ever experienced this? Is it possible the visa is lost somewhere? We need help!

  3. I would suggest he wait a little longer if the status recenty changed. If it goes 10 business days out or so from the printed date you guys might want to follow up, but I wouldn't before then. They are tough to get answers from anyway - and showing up on their doorstep without an appointment means no guarantee they will let him in to find out anything anyway.

It may have taken a few people just a few weeks to get their visas, others it takes a while. Luck of the draw...? Timing with understaffing....? Hard to say. I know it is tough waiting, but you really are in the home stretch now. When you think it has been way to long, reach out and see what they say!

Congratulations on getting to this point! goofy.gif

ok thanks. I told him he should wait a little longer. Maybe give them another week or so. After the first week of may, then he should go. I was thinking maybe they are still sending out visas for all april approvals.

  4. The embassy sends them to UPS in batches, not one by one - so it is very possible it is waiting to go out with the next group.

Just a bit more patience at this point. Looks like it will be there any day now! smile.png

oh ok good to know. Thank you! So we'll see what happens over the next couple of weeks. I got nervous when other people i spoke to told me it only took them 2 weeks to get their visa. Hopefully we will hear something soon. My fiance was going to go to the embassy this week and see if he could find out what is going on. Should he go or wait a little longer?

  5. You can check online here:

    CEAC

    Or call them at 202-663-1225

    Choose option 1

    Then 0 for live operator

ok thanks! I checked the website and it says visa issued and printed. This was as of april 10. So why has my fiance not received it yet? He even called UPS several times and they don't have it yet. It is still at the embassy. If the visa has been issued and printed as of April 10th, then why haven't they sent it? Is this normal?

  6. Have you checked your status with the state department to see if he was put in AP?

Aside from that, the Algerian embassy has been a bit behind for several months now. It took my husband about a month to get his visa printed and sent back out. I would not worry, just check on the status to make sure it is where you think it is.

how do i check my status with the state department?

  7. Hi there, this AP is just done randomly, we were there for close to 3 weeks and by the time it gets out of it, within a couple of days you will have your interview date scheduled, primarily the petitioner will receive an email about their interview being scheduled and then later the beneficiary receives the post and/or email later. We had undergone the same process, but we really used to call NVC/DOS a couple of times every week to know the status. Do keep checking your applicant case status https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/. You are still good, don't worry, you will hear what your ears need to, soon enough :) All the best!!!

ok thank you so much for shedding some light on this! Guess I just have to be patient!

  8. After calling the NVC today to see if they received my approved I-129F petition they told me it is in Administrative Processing. I was so disappointed! He could not give me a timeline as to how long it will be in AP. He just told me to keep checking back periodically to see if they forwarded it to the embassy. What does this mean? Has anyone been through this before? Can anyone give me an idea of how long i can expect my case to be in AP?

  9. I finally received my NOA2 and I am preparing the documents i will need to send my fiance. I am trying to fill out the I-134 and I want to make sure everything is correct and I have all my supporting documents to go with it. I receive monthly child support via the courts. Do I need to include proof of this when preparing the I-134? Do I add this to my annual income?

  10. Went online to check the status of my case and imagine my surprise!

On February 16, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Alhamdullilah! I am so happy! Finally! After 197 Days.... and no RFE's! I can't believe it!

August 6th filer, so all you august filers hang in there! You should be receiving your noa2's soon!

  11. I sent my husband a copy of absolutely everything, even though the embassy should already have had everything. Right down to the support paperwork, birth certificates, proof of relationship. I used the "If it fits it ships" postage from the USPS which helps with cost and gets it there in about 5 business days.

Make sure he brings his medical exam, passport photos and passport of course, but also make sure he has a new updated copy of his police record along with the certified translation. He also needs to bring the email/paper that shows the confirmation of his interview appointment.

Sorry I just have a question...you said you sent your fiancee everything via USPS? I was told not to send anything via USPS but DHL. I was told if I send stuff through the postal service if most likely will not reach him. Did you experience any problems sending things using USPS?

  12. ok I have a question about the I-134 affidavit of support form. On question #7 if i don't have any personal property, life insurance, or stocks or bonds, do I just leave those lines blank? Or do I write "none"? For the part that says "I have on deposit in savings bank in the United States".... do i need to put how much i have in my savings account? I also receive child support. Would I need to include proof of this and attach it to the I-134? I don't want to mess this up so any help would be greatly appreciated.
