Make sure you have your marriage certificate on hand at POE to show that you have indeed been married for more than two years. I'd also print out from USCIS or NVC or somewhere official stating that if one has been married over two years, then an IR-1 is issued instead of a CR-1. I suggest this in case the officer is incompetent and doesn't know immigration

You should have been issued an IR-1 visa as you've been married over 2 years. Since your POE is coming up soon, you probably won't have enough time to get it fixed at the consulate/embassy. What I suggest doing: at your POE, point out to the officer that you've been married over 2 years and that you should have an IR-1 stamp in your passport, thus getting a 10 year green card. A lot of people have to do this because they get their visa before their two year anniversary, but wait to do POE after, so they can get the 10 year green card. Just point it out to the officer and everything should be fine.

I have seen that link before as well. But I have also seen another example (occurred in November 2011) where one of my friend's wife after being married for 2 years and 1 month she entered in USA on CR1, and she also got her green card as CR1 only. Her husband filed a petition before they were married for 2 years.

I some what agree with your point of view. But if your reason is correct why NVC assign IR1 category to case.

It means "conditional resident" visa as you were married for less than two years. IR is immediate relative and couldve only been granted had you been married for at least 2 years. The difference will be that the green card of your spouse will only be valid for 2 years instead of 10 years. After the 2nd anniversary, can apply for a "Removal of Conditions" that would convert this.

At the time of visa interview we're married for 2 and 1/2 years. That's why NVC assigned IR1 category. But visa issued with CR1 category.

When did you find out about your interview date? Have you checked the junk mail folder of your email?

You have to keep in mind, it can take a few days to receive the interview letter. I've even seen it take more than a week a few times.

I came to know on Tuesday. Check junk mail folder all the time.

Called DOS already nuthing for me right now, she actually sound upset that i was calling them and said i shouldn't call them until NVC is done with me. Did you get an email? Some say the email comes in a few hours and some has their date and no email yet.

Jubin, the new consulate is located in an area where you'll find only corporates. There are no hotel's out there. If your wife is new to Mumbai, then I'd advice you to stay near VFS and opt for their cab service. That way, she'll be taken to and from the consulate and also can store her bag, etc, at the VFS locker facility.

Did they move VFS anywhere nearby US consulate(Bandra Kurla complex) from near Mahalaxmi temple? or is it still at near Mahalaxmi temple?

Dude all u have to do is that register on passportindia.gov.in, then fill online form for PCC or offline e form for PCC which ever u find convenient..make sure u have adobe 10.5.1 version otherwise u wont be able to get the form open ...

After that u submit the online application using apply link...u will get an Application Reference Number (ARN) .

after that u need to take appointment which will be either in next 30 days or next month...but u need to take appointment as soon as possible as appointments r not available on date which we desire...we have to book before 15 days to 30 days in advance....and appointment is only available for 15 mins per applicant...

It depends on which area u live..if u stay at Vadodara, Anand, Nadiad, Kheda area u r supposed to go to PSK Vadodara or else Ahmedabad PSK depending upon the area....

I live at Vadodara but i haven't obtained PCC but i have read all these stuff thru their website...n i will be applying within 2-3 months...

For passport PCC, u will definitely need original passport, local pcc , 1-2 residence proof...and 500 Rs/- fee...

U can take one or 2 Photo ID of yours if they need that...

At least four working prior to your interview, you're supposed to submit your medical report as well as photocopies of all the documents you sent to NVC along with another set of original ds230, current dated, to VFS. Also pl make note of the fact that your x-ray is not required at the interview. It's to be hand carried with you to the US, where at your port of entry you'll hand it over to the immigration officer.

Can you shed some light on what do I need to send thru VFS. I'm not aware of this process? I thought all documents are submitted to NVC. Medical and PCC needs to take it with beneficiary at time of interview. Your help is appreciated.

I sent AOS package and IV package together. I used AOS Coversheet in both packages. IV package was sent before IV fee paid. They accepted both packages without any issues. IV fee paid 2 days after package accepted.
