  1. Our file was apparently sent to and archiving center and not to the NVC. It was only after months of phone calls to the NVC and USCIS that we posted a comment on here. LeftCoastLady suggested contacting our local senators office. My wife did this and they got on the case really quick. They are able to speak directly to the right people. Eventually the USCIS re approved our petition and it got sent to the NVC.

I would highly recommend getting on the case asap. As we found the months just drift past and nothing happens. Also the petition has an expiry date, I think its about 3 or 4 months after its approved by the USCIS.

Good luck, I hope you get this resolved soon.

  2. So after visiting USCIS infopass things got better. They are really helpful and they called the DMV direct. It first appeared that the DMV had completely screwed up my SAVE record but in the end it turns out that the paperwork they gave me had the wrong case ID on it. So after yet another visit to the DMV (the main office in Lakewood) they ran the check again and it turned out that the local DMV office should have issued me with a permit. So at last I have a permit and a test already booked for next week.

I would highly recommend anyone using the USCIS infopass route. They guy was really great and helpful. It was so good to be able to talk to a real person face to face.

Once again, thanks everyone for the help. We couldn't do it without you :)

  3. So after yet another trip to the DMV, this time with my EAD they still cant issue a permit. They advised going to the SAVE office in Lakewood, Denver. The office is only open on Wednesdays and only until 2pm. Apparently there is a note on SAVE and they can't issue a permit until its resolved. After some searching on google, it appears that I need to make an INFOPASS appointment with the USCIS. Apparently they are the only ones who can update SAVE. So the appointment is booked and I will update everyone when I get any more news.

  4. I'm from germany and my I-765 has not been approved yet but I got my DL just showing up there and showing my marriage license, SSN and my pending AOS.

Also, Germany and Colorado have a special agreement, so I was able to trade my german DL!

Thanks to everyone for the information.

The EAD arrived today so I will be going to the DMV tomorrow to try again.

If it wasn't for VJ I know this whole process would have been so much harder.

  5. My husband moved to Colorado in early March and has been trying to get his driver's license for the past 4 months. We filed for the AOS and green card in May. After getting the run around from the DMV, we just received a letter saying he is not eligible for a driver's license at this time because his I-485/I-765 application is pending.

Does anyone know if he needs his green card or AOS to be complete prior to getting his driver's license? Any info is much appreciated!

  6. Today I had my interview at the US Embassy in London. I can't thank everyone on here enough for posting all their experiences as it made the whole process so much easier knowing what to expect.

Thanks also to everyone for helping us get through this process, its been a long a traumatic journey and its far from over. At least now in 2 weeks we can be together again and we can continue the journey hand in hand rather than an ocean apart :)

  7. Hi all,

Can someone advise me if bank statements are essential when submitting the I-134 at the interview. The interview is scheduled with the consulate in London. I have all other supporting info, including letter from employer, paystubs and tax transcripts? But just wanted to check that this would be enough.

    Many thanks in advance :)

  8. We have our final interview date scheduled on February 20th, 2013 at the US Embassy in London and are trying to make travel arrangements for my fiance to fly to the US. Does anyone who's migrating from the UK to the US know approximately how long after the interview date we should expect to receive the passport? We're looking to schedule the flight 2 weeks after the interview date, but want to ensure that's enough time. Thank you in advance!

  9. We contacted a local Congressman's office late Friday and received a phone call from them Monday afternoon. They have put a trace on our case file to locate it, and said they would help expedite our case as much as they can. It was a great relief to know that there is help out there from government officials if you reach out to them. We are so grateful for your suggestion and encourage others to ask for assistance from local officials if you're experiencing delays in moving your case forward. Thanks again for your suggestion! Best of luck to you and your fiance.

Have you reached out to your U.S. Senators' offices? If not, do so to see if they can help move things along by inquiring. Call your local office and ask for the person who handles immigration issues. You can look up contact information here: http://1.usa.gov/QeF6aM

Be prepared to fill out a form giving them permission to make the inquiry on your behalf.

  10. Please can someone advise us on the best way around this situation. Our I-129F was approved on 30th July 2012. We contacted the NVC a number times and they said that had not received it. The USCIS is telling us it can take up to 3 months to send it the the NVC. We then emailed a copy of of I797 approval to the NVC, they have now said that our file is in the National records centre and that they are waiting for the USCIS to send it to them. When we call the USCIS they just repeat that it can takes 3 months after approval to send it to the NVC.

Its now been 2 months and we have seen on here that many other cases after ours have been received and processed by the NVC. Any help that anyone can provide would be much appreciated as we really want to be together for Christmas.

Any help or advice would be really appreciated.

  11. Hi everyone,

Firstly thanks for being so amazing and having so much great info on here.

Our problem is that our I-129F was approved on 7/30/12, we contacted the NVC after 2 weeks and they had not received it. We left it another 4 weeks and they had still not received it. They asked my Fiancee to email a copy that she received the from the USCIS. We called again the next day to check if they had received it ok and they said the couldn't tell us and it could take some weeks. Is it worth while chasing the USCIS and is there anything we can do to speed up the process?

Any help would be much appreciated on this.

    Many thanks
