It does not matter one bit who filled out the form on line. I did it for my retired mother and even said on the application that I will be paying for the trip. My mother is very proficient on the computer, but does not speak English. We were Skyping while I was filling out her application so she could provide me with correct answers.

At the time I was a LPR and she was retired with a measly retirement benefits after working as a teacher her entire life. She still has two sons who live with her (young adults) and is a widow. Has no interest whatsoever to immigrate to US. She was approved for 10 year B2 and visited once. My brother applied when he was 18 years old and still in High School and was denied. Just wanted to visit during the Summer vacation.

I think dissecting the possible reasons for denial is pointless. Have them try once again in the future, but not too soon as to not appear too desperate.

    Good luck!

  2. The reason they say you can file 90 days before the day is because the process is expected to take at least 90 days. It is expected that at the end of the process you would've been qualified for whatever you are filing for BUT in some cases, the process takes less than 90 days leaving the petitioner in a fix.

I had exactly the same issue when I filed for citizenship years ago. I concluded the process 3 days early. I could have had my oath ceremony the same day but because I was not yet qualified, they had to send me an invitation for another ceremony. That 3 days early ended up taking about a month before I could do it.

When my wife qualifies for citizenship, instead of 90 days, we'll file 60 days as the process seems to be getting faster. That way we'll completely avoid this issue.

So to answer your question, you should not be denied. They should send you an invitation to an oath ceremony AFTER you have met the conditions and qualified for citizenship.

    I hope this helps?

  3. windowz, did u just do it through online? im looking right now and reading about the info pass.can u pls detail me more, thank you sir!

Yes I did it online. English>Make your appointment with Infopass>Enter your zip code and click Continue>Select your field office and click Continue>You need service on a case that has already been filed>Case service follow up appointment.

    Hope this helps?

  4. Same thing happened to us. It usually happens when there is a change in your last name. Did you change your last name after marriage?

The problem is in the verification from SAVE database. In SAVE, my wife's last name was still her maiden name and it takes some time for the USCIS to update it after issuing the EAD/AP combo card.

To solve this, we made an infopass appointment to go and correct her records in SAVE and got an appointment that was about 3 weeks out. Afterward, we filled this form (since we're in Maryland):

    http://www.mva.maryland.gov/save.htm

Two days before the infopass appointment, we were sent an email to come for the license.

So to answer your question, make an infopass appointment and try to correct your name in their database. If your state has a SAVE verification form like Maryland does, fill it. If you are as lucky as we are, you will be verified before your appointment.

  5. I was approved after you on the 26th September 2012 and got mine yesterday. Chances are your interview date will be on or before the 21st of December even though they're yet to communicate that to you. Call the NVC on 1-603-334-0700 (have your EAC number ready and be sure to ask for your LGS number) and find out what date your file left for Lagos. If it has left, call the Dept of State on 1-202-663-1225 (have your LGS number ready) to find out if it has been received.

  6. I agree that you should ask the embassy, however from what I've seen, the validity date of the visa has always started on the date it's issued and expired approximately 6 months later.

Thanks! So can it be issued on a later date after the interview?

You should ask the Embassy about this.

Should we ask before the interview or on the interview date?

I considered rescheduling but the rescheduling may end up being only days or a couple of weeks after the initial date which may not help.
