  1. First of all, sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread.

So my parents got here in May. My dad received his ssn a week after they got here and mom mother is still waiting for hers. Is there anything we can do about it? We are kind of rushing because she wants to work. And is there anything they need to do after they get here as for the Immigration papers goes? Are all they need to work is the ssn?

    Thanks!

  2. So my cousins are HK residents and applied for a tourist visa to the USA in HK but they are actually living in the Phils. These cousins are ages 20 and 9 yrs old and they are adopted by my aunt1 in 2010. My aunt2 who is the biological mother of my cousins and is a sister to aunt1 got a fiancee visa in the U.S. in 2011. Aunt2 claimed them as her children when she applied for her fiancee visa. It was an honest mistake. She didnt want to lie without realizing that they are no longer hers because the adoption took place before her fiancee visa application. Aunt1 said, the consulate was very strict and look at her right in the eye while she was being asked, who would u like to visit in the U.S? and she answered truthfully," my sister" so then the consulate told her that they need to apply in Manila and told her that the cousins has a visa pending whatever. Oh btw, aunt1 was with the cousins during the interview because she also renewed her visa and got approved and because of the minor kid I guess. Aunt1 also said, the consulate photocopied the cousins birth cert. We are sure that all of her assessment will be passed on to the consulate in Manila.

What can they do about this? is there a hope? or this would be a long process for them?

    Thanks

  3. My parents are scheduled for an interview this coming May 2nd.

Q1. Would they received a packet from the Embassy before the interview?

Q2. Ive read that they have to go to the Embassy early as there will be a lot of people in queue to get in? Is it a first come, first serve basis? What happened to the scheduled time in the appointment letter from the NVC?

Q3. Are they required to bring photocopies of all the documents I submitted to the NVC?

If anybody could give me a link to read on what to expect during the interview at the Embassy in Manila I would highly appreciate.

    Thanks!

  4. Based on my research in VJ threads i takes 15-20 days to receive an email regarding the interview appointment for Parents at USEM Manila. Since you filed separately for your parents they will have the same interview date but will be interviewed one at a time. At least have them bring the copies of the civil docs you sent to NVC. I have question about the AOS, Did you file I864A? or Only I864 alone?

I fill out both forms. Are those docs that we have sent to NVC mandatory of is it just better just incase they would ask for it?

  5. So I called NVC and both parents case are complete.

When do u think I will receive an email with the interview date? Normally, is it a week or 2?

I also notice, some cases will receive their interview letter 3 months prior to the inteview, some just a month. So for parents, what would it be?

Are they going to be interviewed at the same time? Like, they will be questioned together?

What docs should I have have them ready for the interview?

    Many thanks!!!!

  6. The OP is petitioning her/his parent (IR-5 Category). The petitioner for such category is required to submit original/certified copies of civil documents like birth certificates & marriage certificates.

    See link: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

    Petitioner Documents

Who needs to submit petitioner documents?

If you are applying for an IR5 (Parent of a U.S. Citizen) visa, you are required to provide:

    • Original or certified copy of your Petitioner’s birth certificate
    • Original or certified copy of your Petitioner’s marriage certificate from the Petitioner’s current and all previous marriages.

I actually learnt it from u that I need to submit those but just didnt think it has to be original.

How is ur case? do u have an interview date now? Im hoping to get this case done this month and get an interview date by April.

  7. Yes, it wasnt certified copy, it was a copy of the certified docs. I have read it somewhere that petitioners need to submit bc and marriage cert so I did and thought that a copy would do. I know beneficiarys would be original but didnt thought petitioners would be original as well.

  8. It says petitioners bc and marriage cert isnt original or not certified copy but I did send a certfied true copy. Im hoping not to send the original because I dont really have the original but the copy I sent was a certified copy of the original. Do we have to send original? I thought originals are just for beneficiary. Is there any option for me? Btw, this is for the ds-230 docs.

  9. Hi everyone, I would like know if anyone has gone through what I'm going through now....my petition has been approved since January 25th 2013 and since then I haven't received a case number not them receiving my case..I called some minutes ago and a lady picked...she told me to scan my approval and email it to them....

The issue is has this response yield something positive or its just a message to shut one up for the moment...I'm just not happy with all this....

    Response needed

I kept on calling 3-4th week until the lady told me the same thing and it took another 11 days before I finally got a case number. Once u get ur case number, everything moves faster.

  10. I have received IV bill but only for my mother. I really wish they would have the same interview date. Im not sending the DS-230 documents for my mom until my dad's will be ready. What a bummer, Im in a big rush to get all these things done.

Has anybody had a case here that petitions were filed together but interview date were different?

    Ty!

  11. if you are the agent, sure, why not ?

Ohh this email sent to my mom. No email sent for the agent yet. But is the email just a confirmation that they have received the DS3032?

  13. No need for two separate checks. Make it out to the Department of Homeland Security.

Send AOS documents to the Chicago lockbox.

Your friend REALLY needs to read the instructions, since these answers are there and you don't want her missing out on any other information.

If he's a US citizen, you don't need his passport. You need the beneficiary (your friend's) passport with her stamps, bio page, visa and I-94 in it.

Not for the US citizen, it doesn't.

    Thank you ladies

  14. Got few questions...Im preparing my Aos packet for NVC.

    1. Does the petitioner needs to send original birth cert?

    2. Im a US CItizen thru NAturalization, do I need to send my NAturalization cert?

    3. Can I send both pack for my parents in 1 envelope?

    Got to fill up I-864A

    4. Does hubby needs to send birth cert, pay stubs, employment verification as well?

    5. Do I have to send a different copy of Income tax returns along with his I-864a? Or just a copy for both os us. We file joint.

    Thanks!
