Hello, I was wondering if any of you lovely folks know what to do about women's health care? I know I'll need to get health insurance eventually but was wondering if Planned Parenthood could do these things related to sexual health for a reasonable fee (pap smears etc)? Without insurance too?

In a state of shock right now - sent off packet three to the embassy in Sydney Tuesday 18th September, it arrived Wednesday 19th, and they embassy emailed me today (21st) to say our interview will be next Tuesday 25th September! Crazy fast! Now we have a crazy dash this weekend to book flights from Melbourne, hotels and arrange everything with work! Wish us luck!!!!!!

I haven't actually received my letter as of yet but wanted to get a jump on things.
As far as I'm aware the USC doesn't need to attend the K1 Visa interview in Australia also. Different countries have different requirements for the I-134 supporting docs. Check out the Oz portal for more info specific.

Hi guys, just had my medical at Dr Okraglik's clinic today (29/8/12) and thought I'd post my experience.
My appointment at Bridge Street Clinic, Port Melbourne was at 10am, but I arrived a little earlier and filled out the forms they needed. They have all the forms there and you will need to bring 3 passport photos (Australian size is fine), your passport and vaccine records.
A little before 10am a nurse called me and I had my blood taken.
Next another nurse called me and I had my chest Xray done.
After a little wait, another nurse again called me and she checked my height, weight, took my blood pressure and tested my eyes for colour blindness and vision (with and without glasses).
Then I had to wait about 20-25 minutes to see Dr Okraglik.
Once he called me through he looked over the forms I'd filled, and I remember him asking my name (spelling), birthdate, occupation and age. He asked for my age twice during the exam. He also asked if I was married, which of course I said no. I felt almost like these were 'tripping up' questions, like he was trying to see I was telling the truth or something!
Amongst the things he checked and asked included:
- Asking all the medical questions on the form again that I had filled. He asked these questions very quickly, without dwelling too much on any one particular.
- If I had ever had an operation.
- My vaccine records. He photocopied my immunity report against chickenpox and other vaccine records. I was told I needed to get another shot of MMR and Tdap which I had done with the nurse after.
- When my last pap smear was.
- Checked my eyes, ears and throat.
- While laying/sitting on the bed did a general check of my heart, lungs (back and chest), armpits and tapped around my stomach and groin (external only). He had gotten me to take my shoes and socks off while doing it, which I think meant he checked my ankles too, though it was very fast and I didn't really see him do it. He asked me to take deep breaths in and out while doing some of the checks.
- Upon seeing a tattoo on my back asked how many I had (two) and then where the other was, which I showed him.
That was pretty much it and he seemed satisfied, while he was finishing up the reports he asked me where I was going in the States, and what my fiance did for a living. He asked whether I wanted the results mailed or would I come back and pick them up, and then sent me through to see the nurse for the vaccines I needed. There was no urine sample taken or any other tests after that.
It cost $346.50 for the exam, $7 for the postage, and $53 for the vaccines.
I found everyone to be very friendly, and it wasn't nerve-wracking at all. If I had any complaints it would only be that I found the girls at the front desk to be a little unprofessional (their attitudes seemed a little off), and I had to tell the receptionist that they had put 'Mrs' on my ID sticker, where it should be 'Miss', which she quickly changed.
I would definitely recommend Dr Okraglik in Melbourne Feel free to ask any questions!

you are correct! you are in a similar situation to us

I asked a similar question to the Consulate recently. This was their reply:
Thank you for your recent inquiry.
All the documents listed on the checklist should be sent to our office with the DSL-1076.
When you have obtained all of the documents required for your case, complete and mail all of your documents (do not fax or scan) with DSL-1076 to advise the U.S. Consulate General in Sydney that you are ready for your final visa.
Generally, within 30 days of receiving the packet 3 required documents, a confirmation email will be sent to you (known as "Checklist for day of interview") regarding the scheduled time and date of the final visa interview. Please be aware, final visa interviews are scheduled for Tuesday mornings only. You will be scheduled for the first available date.
Mailing address:
U.S. Consulate General
Attention: IV Unit – PKT 3 DOX
Level 10, MLC Centre
19-29 Martin Place
Sydney, NSW 2000
Due to the volume of applications that are processed at the U.S. Consulate, you should send all required documents by a traceable envelope (ie: express post platinum, registered post) to ensure it is delivered and received by our office. Ensure you keep the tracking number when posting the required documents. You may track your envelope for delivery by checking your tracking number on this link with Australia Post. We are unable to respond to email inquiries requesting confirmation of documents.
Kind regards

I believe both medical and photos should be included in the packet, as on the checklist.

Any one have any thoughts on this?

Hi guys,
A member of the family has agreed to be our cosponsor - she will be sponsoring with evidence of savings and assets of which she more than adequately meets the minimum requirements. She won't be submitting any tax transcripts or salary information, and I was just wondering if this would be a problem?
Thank you in advance for any advice!

Mitexi, did your police check ahead of time? How long did it take for the consulate to notify you that it had been received? Because that's the last thing that my fiance is waiting for before sending off Packet 3. He's concerned because it's already been two weeks since he did the police check and he hasn't heard anything, and according to your timeline, it was only 12 days between when you received Packet 3 and when you sent it off to the consulate.
And yes, I included my own I-134 form as well as my dad's. I think everything should be in order, we're just waiting for the ding dang police check.
I got my police check done ahead of time in Melbourne and it took about a month for them to send it through...

IMO just take a copy of the drivers licence too if it's available - what's the harm?! some photo ID might be good back up
-
thanks for the advice!

Hey guys,
We just received out NOA2 yesterday, and I was wondering if anyone going through the Sydney Consulate knows whether it's possible to have the medical examination done before NVC sends the package to Sydney, or we have to wait until a case number is assigned?
Thanks!
-
Thanks guys! So happy
-
Congrats! We just got ours too
-
We both can't believe it, we were expecting up to five month wait, but have just been approved in 91 days!
Thanks VJers for all the help and advice we got from the site when filing our petition.
-
This is sad, what on earth were they doing for two months before they even supposedly filed it?
Hope you can get your money back, and file on your own using VJ for help from now on...

Order the long form of your birth certificate if you don't already have it. Make sure the USC tax returns are up to date for the I-134 form later. Organise a cosponsor if you might need one...
-
12 months
Ah thank you! Actually just emailed the embassy too to ask
-
Not 100% sure but I'm pretty certain those AFP checks are valid for 1 year. Call them and double check.
Thanks!

Can anyone help?

A quick question for anyone going through the Sydney Consulate - how long is the Aussie Police Certificate deemed valid for?
I got a bit proactive and got the check done last month (May), but probably won't get the interview until around October/November... is this too long to use the same certificate or should I get another one? I'm currently living in Melbourne so will be here between now and the interview. Thanks!

I am confused what to type in 'applicant's employment last 5 yrs...
Jan2009-June2012 I am self-employed, so no employer, do I put 'none' in 'occupation'?
Oct2008-Dec.2008- I worked
2004-2006 I worked
Do I just put Oct2008-Dec.2008 because I worked that time, and not include the years Jan2009-2012 because I have no employer and am self-employed?
and I no longer include 2004-2006 employment anymore?
Can you pls help me arrange this. I hope you understand what I am trying to say here. Thank you
why don't you put 'self employed' and the name of your company or what you do?
-
You are only required to provide the most recent year's tax transcript. I believe if you will have your interview in London then you only need the co-sponsor's financial docs, but you should check in your regional forum to make sure.
Thanks for your reply! We will have the interview in Sydney, Australia - guess I'll check the oz portal!
