I noticed you also have Philadelphia as your local office, have you gotten an interview date yet?
Nothing after fingerprinting. Complete silence.

I am not in the NYC field office, I actually have Philadelphia office, however, I understand your frustration, I had my fp's done in the first week of May and have not heard anything since. Meanwhile almost everyone from the same field office who applied around the same time and a month after have already had an interview or has an interview date. I plan on calling in again on Monday and try to speak to a tier 2 officer if possible, if able.

Let us know how it goes for you. In the processing times website I have noticed that Philadelphia has just plowed through a big backlog and only recently has it gone back to the standard 5 months. I thought the explanations from the tier 1 officer were satisfactory, so I should be calling again in early to mid-September.

The CBP officer at the airport (PHL) highly recommended getting a stamp on the passport (INFOPASS, yada yada yada).
I probably will not get it, because I don't expect to travel after the new card comes in, but I thought you might want to consider making the move.

No procedures. Just go ahead and walk in. There is no guarantee that you will succeed, though, so your mileage may vary.
In my area there are two USCIS offices doing biometrics. I went to the one that I had the appointment for and they told me that if I wanted a walk-in I had to go to the other one. In the second location they were more than happy (gleeful, I would say) to have me walk in!
I received the biometrics appointment last Monday for May 6th, but I was able to do a walk-in today. Five minutes, in and out.
Can you plz explain the procedures of early biometrics? Do you need to call them or reschedule before you walk in? -

Notifications must be sent in batches every 15 minutes: we got notified at 17:45 and 18:00 today.
No word about when the card will be produced, but I anticipate it is going to be soon.

- It was a 11am appointment. We got there 15 minutes before the specified time and we waited 2 hours (!!!) in a waiting area full of screaming children and a number of families with 4+ children (anything but quiet). Apparently they were running late and our slot (11am) was the last of the shift, so we suffered for all the delays in the morning.

Advice: You cannot bring food or drink, so a good, solid breakfast before the interview would be in order if you can take it.

Note: If for religious (or whatever else) reasons you do not / cannot / will not swear the oath, be aware that there is a neutral formula that states "swear or affirm". We proactively asked for it, but it might well be the default text.
- The officer had us in his office for 10 minutes, barely. He asked ID data for both of us and went over the weird yes/no questions (genocide, weapons, drugs...) marking them with a red pen. Then he asked if we wanted to add something to the file. We started taking out copies of bills and random oddities (bibs and photos from marathons we have run together) until he said enough.
- He took my I94, said we would be hearing something in 30-45 days. He did not mention the procedure and timing for ROC until I asked him.
- The officer did not check any original, except for pieces of ID and the I94. I had printed a full copy of all the paperwork that we submitted, which probably will end shredded.
- There was no approval right away, but he said it was an easy case.
(I think this is all about the actual interview. I would call it a non-event. Take it seriously and it should not be a problem. If I remember anything else I will update this.)
Results:
At 17:45 today I receive an email and a text that says: "On June 26, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."
Now... is it me or this is the weirdest way to tell you that you have been approved?
Fifteen minutes later (18:00), we get an email and a text saying: "On June 26, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."
So, I guess, the AOS process is almost over for now... and I have 640 days of deserved rest before the sequel of this big ordeal

EAD/AP card is on the way.
Curiously enough (check my signature), I got two notifications saying that the EAD card was in production, one before and one after the notification that the AP had been approved.
My theory is that the first order to put it in production was before the AP had been approved, so it had to be sent to production a second time.
Any insights?

Hmmm. Looks linearly fingerprinting my have helped the time in your case. Congratulations.
A friend of mine, in the same situation, sent the whole package at pretty much the same time and did the fingerprinting on the appointed date.
She's interviewing in the same office 45 minutes earlier, on the very same day.
My theory is that it might give you an edge at getting the EAD a bit earlier.
