  1. For the Birth Certificate translation for AOS, can I translate my own document since I am fluent in both languages?

In the USCIS web page it says: Please submit certified translations for all foreign language documents. The translator must certify that s/he is competent to translate and that the translation is accurate.

The certification format should include the certifier's name, signature, address, and date of certification. A suggested format is:

    Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

    Signature_________________________________

    Date Typed Name

    Address

So can I translate my own document or it has to be a 3rd party?

  2. Yea the SSN is not something that just magically arrives for you as a K-1 entrant. You need to apply for it yourself. The person may have confused the fact that the CR-1 entrants often do get their SSN in the mail without having to apply for it because of a notation on the forms for them.

So when I get my SNN, then am I allowed to work or not? or I have to wait till my AOS gets processed?

  3. question: Do I have to go get my SSN before I send my AOS? Im in the states now, got married and Im waiting on my marriage certificate to come in the mail to aply for AOS. I am confussed cuz the guy at the embassy told me I dont have to get a SNN, He said that it all comes when they send you your papers back w permission to work, travel waiver.. etc. HELP????
