  3. My wife was supposed to have her interview last month, we rescheduled it and had it today instead. A couple of hours after the interview she had her oath and ceremony, and now my wife is a U.S. citizen!

    Also I updated Jacque2012's info

Congratulations to your wife Russer! I bet she is relieved that this journey is over for her! I had my interview today and it went very smoothly, passed the questions & the interview. Now just waiting for the oath. Hoping to be a U.S. citizen by Christmas!

  4. Finally received my Green Card & welcome letter in the mail today!!! It took 7 days including the weekend to get it, so 5 business days. I called customer service last night to see if i could get a tracking number & spoke to a level 2 immigration officer but he said according to their system the card had not yet been sent. I explained to him i received an email on Monday 7/15 about it being sent but he disagreed with me. Goes to show how their systems are not always updated.

Good luck to all those waiting!

  5. Gummibear, yes you will get approved hopefully soon! I received my 10 year Green Card today!!!! So excited to be done with this for a while. I thought i would definitely have an interview for the ROC so i was super excited that i did not have one!

@groovyaardvark, yes you are right, every case is different. i just felt i needed to provide as much evidence as possible including an explanation of how we met & the reasons for divorcing as i did not want to be called for an interview to explain that! I am sure it was about 10 pages if not more & probably the reason i never got called for an interview & of course plus all the other evidences i provided.

I wish everybody best of luck in this journey!

  6. Gummibear,

I wish you all the best in this process. It can be frustrating but you got to believe & trust all will go well. We didn't have any joint credit cards and filed our taxes married but separate as my ex owed federal taxes. As long as you can show your relationship was genuine with all the evidences am sure all will be well. It was not a must but i also included 2 notarized affidavits from people who knew us both. Are you using a lawyer? At first i did not want to as they are expensive but decided it was the best move for me as this was/is very important in determining my continued stay here in the USA. Am actually glad i did use a lawyer as my lawyer was very knowledgeable & efficient. It might have cost me an arm & leg but it was worth it in the end as i did not get any RFE!

I wish you all the best in this journey.

  7. Thanks Gummibear. I was not expecting anything as i have heard waivers due to divorce take a longer time so i was pleasantly surprised! I have also been following a thread on this forum (January filers) and realized i got approved the same time as them. It goes to show it depends on the amount of evidence you have and the situation that lead to the divorce for waivers (i wrote a long letter to USCIS explaining the reasons for my divorce as they were beyond my control).

  8. Add me to the list please. I have been following this thread as i too am a January filer. I just received a text message & email that my card/document is in production & it was ordered today. I am so excited beyond words! Thought i would get an interview but the good Lord was with me after the way my exhusband treated me. Thank you Jesus!

    My timeline is as follows:

    I751 WAIVER filed: 01/07/13

    NO1:01/09/13

    Biometrics:02/06/13

    Approved: 07/12/13

I am a California service center filer.

  9. Yes I had Lawyer with me during interview. ..Good lawyer will help you to prepare and present your case in a good manner.. that counts alot. esp. with waiver of removing conditions. Make sure you give to the point answers to the Immigration officer. do not swamp IO with lot of unnecessary information..

    gudluck

If you don't mind my asking, how much did the lawyer charge you?? I am planning on filing my waiver soon & the lawyer that i found is charging me 2000 dollars in St Louis Missouri. I would have filed by myself since i have some evidence to show good faith marriage but the timing of when i got the GC & when we got separated am afraid might make the IO get suspicious. So am thinking having the advice of a lawyer plus also having the lawyer present incase am called for an interview would be beneficial.

Your story has given me some hope even though not similar to mine. What state are you in? Thanks!

  10. Hi,

I filed with a waiver, you have more evidence than me, I didn't use a lawyer. I filed this month, so obviously don't know if approved, but I just didn't want to spend money on a lawyer.

    Good luck to you

I was wanting to file without a lawyer as i thought i could do it but am scared since the timing might seem suspicious. Did not have my gc for a long time before i caught my ex cheating but you know immigration are always suspicious of everything, its their job! So i have just decided to work my butt off & pay a lawyer, after all it is my future in the US that is at risk. I wish you all the best in your waiver. Did you file at vermont or CSC?

  11. Hello ,

Iam sorry to hear this and hope some people will advise y prop on this site. Whatever i think y shld take a lawyer. Y dont have to take the first one as yr first appointment shld be free todiscuss the matter. Be brief with them as time count but please take advise from a professional as yr everyday life and all yr effort u have done to integrate in the usa cld be comprised.

Sorry again and iam here if y want to talk.

    Xxso

Thanks! I decided to take a lawyer just to be sure i do not make any mistakes & just incase anything happens. It is my future in the US we're talking about so i better invest in it even though i will have to work extra to get that money but i guess it will be worth it in the end. Never thought i would be going down this road but i guess its part of life. We live & learn. Thanks for your concern.

  12. um, just curious, what is he going to want for return?

you have sufficient evidence. i would still work my butt off and come up with the $2000 and hire a competent attorney. You can put together all the documents you have collected, and go over it with your attorney and have him send it. he might catch some of the mistakes you may have made, or you might do the same for him. 2 heads are always better than 1. besides, if things to awry, you can rely on your attorney to make the corrections.

Thanks for the reply. You don't want to know what he would ask for & not even be ashamed about it. So i know for sure it would be a waste of time asking him to sign an affidavit as i know i am not willing to give in to his requests. I guess you're right, will have to work my butt of as you put it. Don't want to have any regrets why i did not use a lawyer as this is my future we're talking about.

    Thanks!

  13. Hey all,

I posted my question on the Forum for Removing conditions but thought i should post it here as i might get better response since we're all going through the same issue of waivers.

I need some input regarding filing I-751 Waiver based on a good faith marriage. Unfortunately i caught my husband cheating on me one month after i got my 2 year conditional green card last year in October & i could not bear to be with him anymore after such betrayal. I asked him to move out & in March of this year he kept pressuring me to get back with him.. that he still loved me...blah blah...Long story story short, i said a big NO. I loved him but could not bear to be with him after what he did to me. To me cheating is a BIG NO NO. Once a cheater, always a cheater.

He filed for divorce & it was granted yesterday. I called around St Louis Missouri to different lawyers and they charge around 1500-2000. For some reason i thought it would be way less than that! I really don't have all that money but i can work some extra shifts to get it if i really have to use a lawyer. So MY QUESTION--> Do you think i should lawyer up or not?? Especially because we separated so soon after i got my GC? Also we applied for the GC about a year after living together but unfortunately got approved before our 2 years anniversary:( The following are the evidences i have so far to prove it was a good faith marriage:

    • Copy of our Tax transcripts for 2010, 2011 (Married filing separately because my ex-husband owed Federal Taxes).

    • Selected copies of our joint bank account statements from June 2010 (checking and savings), and a Voided Check

    • Copies of Joint cable/internet utilities spanning about 18 months

    • Copies of Joint water bill spanning about 18 months

    • Joint electricity utility bills spanning about 18 months

    • Copy of Costco membership cards/bills with both our names for 2010, 2011

    • Copies of Joint Lease for 2010 and 2011.

    • Copy of Apartment Insurance Policy for 2010 and 2011.

    • Copy of 401K plans naming each other as the beneficiary.

    • Copy of Life Insurance policy from each of us showing each other as beneficiary.

    • Copy of Medical Insurance cards / plan information and doctor bills with both our names

    • Various Pictures: Wedding, with family, outings.

    • Postcards sent by my family to both of us.

    • Gym membership for both us showing each other as the emergency contact person.

    • My School Personal Information listing my ex-husband as the emergency contact person.

    • Miscellaneous letters addressed to both of us showing we lived in the same address.

Please advice on what to do. My GC expired Nov 2013. If i absolutely have to use a lawyer i will, but if i don't have to i would rather save the money that i don't even have! Also do you think my evidence is sufficient?? I could get affidavits from my ex-husband but i know he will want something in return (if you know what i mean) & his family only does what he tells them. Thanks.
