  1. I had an interview before my I-130 petition was approved also and received the same letter you did. My lawyer told me that sometimes they just choose people to give interviews to (not sure if that is true or not, lawyers don't always know their stuff). My case didn't have any red flags or anything. My husband was also out of the United States when I had this interview. We did not have any joint mortgages, leases, etc. I brought pictures, affidavits from people that knew us stating it was a real marriage, Western Union documents, etc. and I still got a RFE at the end of the interview for more evidence, which was basically the same stuff as the original letter stated, joint mortgages, leases, insurance, etc. even though I explained to the interviewer that we didn't have that stuff! Also one big thing they asked for was more evidence that my husband had actually left the country, even though I had dated pictures of me and him together in his country. It took about 5 months after the interview for my petition to be approved so it definitely set back the case. I hope you have better luck than I did.

  2. I haven't been on here in a while, just because I have been so busy with trying to make everything perfect for my husbands interview, but it was APPROVED in Guatemala. The process was long and we have many troubles along the way, but when it came down to his visa interview, it was the easiest thing so far! They asked for NO evidence from us at all? We had pictures, bank statements, letters from family members and they didn't ask for anything at all. Also.. there was an earthquake in the middle of out interview. So very nice experience overall. We have already received his visa today and we are flying to the US next Wednesday, the 24th!

  3. HALLELUJAH!!! We got our case number!! :goofy::dancing: :dancing: :dancing: :dancing: :goofy:

Also asked for and got the Invoice ID # and Beneficiary ID #. Yaaaaay!!!

I knew something was different because J.R. asked for the petitioner's name and date of birth, beneficiary's name and date of birth and I hadn't been asked for that information before! Such a relief to finally have a case number and be able to start moving forward again!

Congrats! That's great news. I hope your invoices come soon!

And congrats to everyone on the last few pages who got invoices :) it appears that NVC is getting back to work!

    How is everyone today?

  4. My AOS and IV bills now appear as paid. Time to make sure I've got everything together for the packets and take it to the attorney. This might take me a few weeks because I want it to be perfect, even though at the interview they are going to tell him he just needs a waiver anyways :/

Oh well, another step down! XD

And I haven't read the last few pages but if anyone got a case number, aos or iv invoice, or case complete, congrats!

  5. I contacted my congressman for my state and received my NOA2 in the mail about a week later, however I'm not sure if it had anything to do with contacting him or not, since I never heard back from him. My case was outside normal processing times, also. It's been over a year for us. But it wouldn't hurt to contact them, but like someone said above, some aren't willing to help on immigration issues so check about that before contacting them.

  6. When trying to log in to the payment portal I got the following error:

You cannot make online payments for your case at this time. Please contact the NVC if you have questions or need further information.

Anyone know what this means? I mean... obviously means I can't pay yet, but I haven't received this error before, I have been receiving the 'Your case in in the process of termination' error.

  7. Happy for you. The process at USCIS has been a long one for you. I hope NVC goes faster.

Question for any of you more experienced folks. Is it usual that basically a week of cases are skipped and case numbers assigned to those with later NOA2 dates like this? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for bluetiger and CharityA. I'm just frustrated that NVC keeps saying "wait 15-20 days" when I had an earlier NOA2 date.

    Thanks!

That is odd, and I do really hope you get yours soon! I'm not very experienced at all so I have no idea why you haven't gotten yours yet.

  8. Well, NVC should follow the average timeline for your case. It's just the interview and waiver process that will not be average.

Have you looked at other cases that had to file waivers and how long they took? Specifically with cases in Guatemala?

I haven't been able to find many... I have been looking on immigrate2us for waiver info as I've heard they are good with stuff like that, but I haven't found any specific to Guatemala. I may just try googling it if all else fails.

  9. Yeah, because of your husband's past, your case will definitely take longer than most average cases. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get the waiver approved, and he's in the US by the end of the year.

Thanks! I hope so. My attorney told me the waiver process (including the NVC & visa interview) will probably take at least another year to process, but it could take less or more, there is no real timeline to follow for my case XD

    EDIT:

Just saw your post sheeshkabelle. Yes... for a bit there I was going crazy. Until we finally got NOA2 and it feels a little better for something to actually be happening. He is so ready to come back to the US.
