My advice is to always take extra verification. Even when I'm traveling domestically with my drivers license, I take my green card, letter of extension and sometimes a copy of my marriage license.
-
My letter wouldn't print online and I didn't need it. I called the office freaking out and they said I was registered and that was good enough. I lIve in Maone so the office is quite small so it may vary from state to state.

My cases status hasn't been updated. Still says case received. The approval date is 10/11

Hi All! Just an update to say that I got my approval letter today!!! I think it took about 2 weeks from my RFE Delighted!
-
Just want to let everyone know that I actually received the approval notice from VSC today! The decision was also made on Oct 6, the same day I called USCIS tier 2 officer and was told my case was pending with my local USCIS district office and due for an interview.
Not sure what actually happened there but I am glad it alll worked out!
Online status still shows case received
That's fantastic news! Congratulations!

Great stuff was wondering how you got on
It was grand!
I took my extension letter, my RFE notice, marriage certificate (just in case) and my passport to the office. I can't seem to track down my expired green card which they do ask for but it's not a requirement for the stamp. I just explained where I was in the process and the lady took the passport and stamped it. She said that it would allow entry for up to 12 months and to make sure I take my extension letter and RFE notice with me when I travel.
The only thing that I'm worried about is that she asked me if I included a photocopy of my RFE notice with the packet. I said I hadn't because I wrote out a cover letter that included my case #and alien #. She said that may cause a delay. Felt like a bit of an idiot for not including it. Oh well!

My license expired in October of last year which was the month before my GC expired. The DMV initially extended it by three months when I got the notice about ROC process and then extended it to 12 months with the extension letter.
I just got the stamp in my passport today which gives me another years extension so I'm not sure what will happen with the DMV but I iwll send an update!

I have a paperless bank account situation and I was able to print the statements of the online account

We filed our taxes seperately. Do you think that it's important to file them together?
Hi,
I filed by the end of October 2015 and got a RFE now.
Originally we submitted:
- Tax returns for 2013 and 2014
- IRS tax return transcripts for 2013 and 2014
- IRS form 9352 for 2013 and 2014
- a letter from the bank saying that we both have a joint account since beginning of 2013
- 18 bank statements
- 12 joint phone bills
- two affidavits (one from building owner where we live)
- lease contracts for 2013 and 2014
What surprises me that the letter from the USCIS says that we didn't send any proof that taxes were submitted. I mean we sent original (not copies) of IRS transcripts and also the 9352 forms which is a receipt from the IRS that taxes were filed.
I'm also surprised that they say that we submitted "A bank statement" and "A phone bill". We submitted 18 bank statements and 12 phone statements and not just "A" respectively.
I don't know what else to send. How else can we prove that we submitted taxes together? Should I send the same stuff again? Another question is - should I send them documents which I sent them previously or only new/additional prove?

Do we really need to get people to write affidavits?
-
Got my letter in the mail yesterday RFE... Dated September 23, odd bc I called at 5pm and was told my case was not reviewed yet. Anyways they listed a bunch of items that were in accurate ... I sent my 2013, 2014 tax returns and it says my returns don't show filing status... So disgartning after waiting so long. I'm in a tough situation, I closed the joint account bc we don't use it and we pay $12 a month to keep it open, my husband has his own retail store therefore our credit cards and bank accounts are separate... Don't have kids due to health issues, we do have a dog... Going to get a few affidavits from friends and families on both sides... We have been together for over 7 years and married for over 3.... This is not a good week
I hear you! We have a lot of separate things for financial/professional reasons so it's a scramble for me too. I do think that it's a delay tactic. I have seen 4 applicants get 9/23 RFE so lets just believe that they're backed up. Maybe you can get personal statements for friends and family?

Hi All,
Well I have an update. I got an RFE notice in the mail this morning. I am a little upset because of the length of time we waited to hear about an update but not surprised as I read on the forum that RFE can be sent as a delay tactic. My application is with the Vermont service center. Racing to send additional documents in asap. Docs I'm sending:
-Summary of my retirement that shows my husband as being the sole beneficiary
- Documentation that shows we're in the process of buying a house
-I just renewed our health and car insurance so I'm sending those receipts in
Any other recommendations?

My husband (non USC) travels domestically and internationally frequently for his job as well. He has traveled outside the country at least 7 times since his GC expired with no issues. The biggest hassle was just one time he was taken to "secondary processing" where they looked through his stuff again and sent him on his way. Added another 10 minutes or so to immigration in total.
Thank you!
I have been able to travel in an out over the past year with my marriage certificate and letter or extension on my person. I've only been sent to secondary processing once.
I will have to wait and see what happens next. Sounds like getting the stamp in my passport is the next option if I haven't heard anything by October.

Hi All,
It's been a very long time since I posted on this board. I am still waiting for an update on my application. I filed my papers on October 22nd 2015 and had my bio metrics at the end of January.
I am worried because
A) my drivers license is about to expire in November and the DMV have said that they won't extend it without the updated Green card
B) We are in the process of buying a house and I know I should update my address soon and I don't want to go it if it will cause a delay.
C) My job requires me to travel domestically and internationally and the lack of updates is causing some anxiety about that.
I called USCIS this morning and was told that they are working on October 5th applications. I inquired about changing my address (I have to write them a letter to formally make that request) and about potentially having my application expedited.
It's just very annoying at this stage. A year is a very long time to wait for an update like this.
Confused about helping husband with citizenship
in Effects of Major Family Changes on Immigration Benefits

I don't believe he deserves to become a citizen based on marriage to me because of moral grounds.
Now I find he has recently been keeping company with a prostitute even though he says he has never slept with her.
I would read over these two lines because I think they are the key to your answer.
My advice is to divorce him and move on. If this were a marriage between two citizens, the stakes would be high as well and I am sure, in time, he will be able to become a citizen as a divorcee. It might just take him longer
