  1. That's what I'm having problems with... I just can't accept what's going on yet...

And I definitely don't feel like I'd ever love anyone else again...

Oh Saylin, I am so extremely sad to hear about your situation. It is an awful thing to have to go through and especially that you left everything behind. All I can say is you need to keep your chin held high and try to be strong. Use your network (family, friends, counselling) and you will get through this. Things will get better in time whichever road you both choose.

    Keep the faith girl!

  2. You're limited by the expiration date on the visa and the date of the medical. You get 90 days to get married when you arrive. The medical cannot be over a year old. You also need a medical that is not over 12 months when you adjust status. Getting a new medical with a CS can be expensive, and the fee for the AOS is high enough as it is. Many people go for a quick wedding when doing the K-1, then plan a more formal affair later on. My wife an I threw together a wedding in one month, it was rushed, it was somewhat simple, it wasn't perfect, but it was pretty nice to. It helped we had our wedding garments, made before she got here.

Wow, how did your process go so quickly? Looks like the whole process took 6 months! Lucky you! Did you do anything special?

  3. I'm happy to report that I have never been to such a easy interview.

Our petition was perfect, nothing was missing. Like most of you say, the whole process is more painful and the stressful but the interview is a reward.I have been browsing around in Montreal since noon when my fiance left to USA. Nice gorgeous weather.

Very happy!!! Thanks you all! See you at AOS :)

COngratulations! I like to hear nice happy endings like this. Wow, your process only took 7 months from start to finish pretty much! I am hoping that everyone's will go as smoothly including mine. My process hasn't even started! Way to go!!! :)

  4. Yep..Weird circumstances..I was approved my daughter was approved my son wasnt. So now I have no clue whats up next..Ive been crying since I walked out..

Oh NO! What the heck happened that they would deny your son? Did they give you an explanation? Poor thing! :( Have you heard anything since?

  5. Saylin,

It looks like there are only 2 forms to fill out for the CR1-is that possible or am I misreading?

I was wondering if I could get married in a civilmarriage in the US when I'm down for a weekend and then return back to Canada and then start the process when we get the marriage certificate...do you think that'd cause problems? Right now I'm going down on I-94 forms every 2 weeks having to get a new one every time because I've had issues.

  6. Hello,

I would tell you to not stress yourself during the process. The forms are pretty straightforward for the most part, but there are questions that seem confusing. Thankfully, just about everything that's caused problems in the past is availible here with solutions. I stress somewhat when I was doing this and now looking back on it, most of what i was stressing wasn't nothing really. I followed directions, and if i didn't understand something I looked for it here and sure enough, someone else had the same problem I did and the answer was right there. Truthfully, using that search function you can find the answer to about 99% of the problems you might encounter. God speed.

I would like to know how yours went so quickly?! That's only 5 months to interview date! What's your secret??

I'm trying to figure out if we should get married and go the CR1 route or go the K1 route. How long had you been married before the whole process started for you?

  7. List as many as you can remember. Then include a paragraph saying how long you've been visiting and how often for the other dates that you don't remember. Did you look at the link I posted in here earlier?

    Hi Saylin,

I am curious to know why it takes sooooooooo long to go the CR1 route? I would figure if you're already married that it would go quicker. Also, I've heard of people getting everything done within 4 months...is this even possible? Were you or your hubby able to travel to see each other even though you were already married and did this cause problems crossing the border?

  8. I am from Ireland, but had a similar problem as I travelled a lot on the VWP for vacations and business meetings. I wrote down as many visits as I could remember from email itinaries, blog posts, credit card bills and passport stamps (this required additional pages of course), then at the end wrote "these are the visits I remember to the best of my recollection. There may have been more, but none over 2 weeks." There were no questions/ comments on this.

Wow, Thanks Penguin, I appreciate your help. I was so worried.

The process and forms are so daunting!

I appreciate your feedback and to know it was such an easy process for you.

    Kind regards,

    Natascha

  9. I was wondering how on earth anyone can list how many times someone has been to and from the USA over the span of 10 years? I live in Montreal and I have been going to the USA at least 2-3 times per year over the past 10 years but have no idea on the specific dates that one of the forms is asking for.

As well, on the DS-157 form it is asking to list all of the countries you've entered in the last 10 years and to list the years. Once again,I've been travelling to different destinations yearly, some of them multiple times but do not have the years. The only way for me to get that information would be for me to have access to the pics I took on vacation, however, I am currently in final stages of a long divorce and my soon to be Ex will not give me the pics of our trips to be able to help me out.

I am frustrated beyond belief and am worried that if I don't have every country and correct date or every date I entered into the USA over the past 10 years that I'll have a problem with the visa going forward.

Does anyone have any suggestions or comments as to what they did?

    Looking forward to any help.

    Thanks

  10. That was exactly my question too.

Thank you so much for the answer!! I am so nervous that we'll forget to do something and cause a delay. I'm actually filling out the paperwork for my man in the US and trying to get everything in advance so that everything will go quickly and smoothly. I want to ensure we do it right the 1st time and not have any problems.

The 4-7 month delay is such a LONG time when all you want to do is be with your better half.

    Thanks again for sharing!!
