  1. I somewhat recently got my license in Duval County, FL.

They just required my passport with a valid I-94.

If you can prove you have an international license (this may only apply to English?) you may be able to get out of the drugs and alcohol awareness course and only need to do a short multi choice theory and a short practical test, I think the total i paid for my license was around $76

all in all it's relatively cheap and easy to get a license.

  2. I guess it varies depending on who you deal with, but when i was at window 1 in the embassy i was asked for a lot of financial support proof (tax return, letter of employment & I-134), when i got to the second window for the actual interview he didn't ask for any proof just questions about my relationship.

The way i see it is that this is a long and expensive journey and it is better to be over prepared, at least that way you won't make your journey any longer or more expensive.

  3. So i haven't been active here for a while because all i was doing was waiting for any communication from USCIS, and luckily i have had a smooth journey and haven't had too many questions or worries.

But now i've come back just to say I HAVE BEEN APPROVED FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCY my green card should arrive within the next couple weeks.

Thanks to all on this forum who have been helpful!

.....and to those still waiting, don't worry, it does eventually happen and it's one of the best feelings you can have!

  4. People that actually understand a dry sarcastic sense of humor without having to explain that I'm trying to be funny.

Black Humor, it just dosen't exist here.

    THIS !

I'm still struggling to see how far i can push the humour with Americans, i'm not totally sarcastic, but there has been many occasions where somebody i am talking to will not understand my response and then either apologise for offending me or think i'm a total #######. The only person who really understands my humour here in the US is my wife, She has to keep explaining to her friends that they dont offend me when they make those oh so cliche "harry potter" jokes, they just don't understand the sarcasm in my responses.

  5. Yes, It was Knightsbridge who did this, I thought it was kind of a mess myself but i just assumed they did it like this for everybody haha, I went ahead and got the medical done again completely, and also the neccessary vaccines i needed, after the whole medical and all injections it came out at just over $300, so i'm not really mad about it, at least now if i get an RFE it shouldnt be because of my medical. Getting the I-693 in the sealed brown envelope seemed a bit more legitimate than that scrawled on piece of paper from Knightsbridge haha.

    Lewis,
I am sorry I did t see this post until today. Your form is a mess and was not properly filled out so definitely should have had an RFE. Was this done by Knightsbridge in London? In my opinion when USCIS says "if your DS-3025 was not properly completed...", I think that means properly filled out as well as shots done.

You had 3 doses of DTP but the last one was in 1990(?). It's hard to read. It needed to be within the last 10 years so you should have gotten a Td. Yet they put a check mark in Completed column and wrote n/a for K1. No, it wasn't completed and NO, they are not instructed to make notes about your visa type. They are to mark complete, or a reason for waiver, or leave it blank if you didn't get a shot.

Your M, M, and R. Not sure if Mumps requires 2 doses. I would have to look that up. But the check marks are in the column indicating the shot was given by the panel physician. And personal notes again!

    Varicella is perfect.

Influenza was not given. It should have a waiver column marked which is the last column "not flu season". Instead they put a check mark in "completed." No, you didn't actually complete it, but it has a reason to be waived. Again personal notes saying n/a for K1. Everything is n/a for a K1, but the point is they should mark the shots or reason for waiver and stop commenting on visas or trying to create their own form by adding a checkmark and comment

  6. regarding the time frames for medical stuff, you can most probably get it all completed within a couple of days, I recently had to do the same, once you have your initial medical with a civil surgeon they will take a skin test for tb which takes 48 hours to show and most walk in clinics can do blood work for a low fee and have the results mailed over to the civil surgeon within 24 hours, so yeah, from the initial visit to the surgeon if you do things quickly you can easily have it done in a couple of days.

  7. Do you know what shots you are missing?

As far as i can tell the only shots i need are Rubella and Measels, But i dont understand this sheet so maybe you can shed a little light ?

I have an appointment with the civil surgeon tomorrow, i know i have left it kinda late to ask for advice, but i wanna make sure i dont get scammed into paying for more than i need :(

  8. I'm just worried that having an RFE will slow down my application as a whole, Im getting pretty desperate to work and im not sure if it would be better to wait until i can get my I-693 completed or send in my complete package minus the medical transcript and at least get my case in motion, and even if i do get an RFE my case is already being looked at so maybe it wont be so bad ?

  9. Your wife does her I-864 and checks 1 a . It is required of her as is her tax return or a reason why she was not required to file taxes.

Your financial sponsor does his own I-864 and checks 1 d. A tax return is required.

Don't forget he must prove he is a US citizen or permanent resident. Include a photocopy of the proof with the form.

You totally just cleared all of that up for me, Will just a W2 do for them both or do i need a full tax return transcript ?

  10. here a sample form to fill up your I-864

    http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-I-864.pdf

your wife the petitioner/sponsor..the one need to answer and sign this form not the beneficiary

So it's my wife who needs to complete the I-864 ? I can't use my original Financial Affidavit of support ?

Maybe i have misunderstood what you have said, I am aware its not me who needs to complete this form, I and my fiancial sponsor were unsure about that one section, the rest of the form was filled out by the financial sponsor (not my wife), Sorry if i have an awkward way of wording things haha

    Thanks

  11. Hello everybody,

So I am almoost ready to file for AOS (i came to the USA on a K1) and there is a few questions on the forms that i need help with, firstly on the I-864, i have just one financial sponsor and my original petitioner (my wife). Im probably just being dumb but for part 1 would the correct box to tick be D ?

Ok, now the other stuff im kinda stuck on, G325a. Do i have an A number now that i have an I-94 or is that something that i wont get until my GC ?

Sorry if these are silly questions, thanks for any help you can offer in advance :)

  12. Another quick question - the co-sponsor for the I-134, do I need to bring along a proof of citizenship to the interview? Like a copy of their birth certificate or whatever?

    Thanks

As far as i am aware the only supporting documents you need for the co-sponsor is the financial evidence etc, having a full tax transcript, a letter of employment or bank statements will pretty much prove their citizenship.

I recently had my interview and they didnt ask for any evidence of citizenship for my co-sponsor so i'd just say don't worry about it, Somebody else who is more clued up may advise you different, but i have never heard or read about the London embassy requesting it.

  13. My main concern now is delivery of the visa. I've hears of this taking upto 14 days, but also taking as little as 5 days. Has anyone recently been accepted who can confirm how long it took to arrive? Or if there is a general known average?

    Thanks!

    Rich

My interview was on the 25th of January, I got a text yesterday saying i would receive my passport complete with visa on Monday (11th) So i will have waited a total of 11 working days, I was hoping to receive it sooner as i was planning on flying on the 10th, but at least is it coming !

  14. Ok, so first of all i have a k-1 visa.

I'm moving to florida to marry my fiancee in a couple weeks and i'm kinda lost on how to get around some things.

I notice people are saying to apply for SSN after the marriage, is this just aimed at the people taking the surname of their fiance ? Seeing as i am a male i will keep my own name, so im guessing this doesnt really matter ?

Also, i need proof of citizenship to get a SSN, so will my k-1 and I94 be valid proof ?

finally, To acquire a marriage license in florida i need a SSN, how do i get this if im supposed to wait until after the wedding ? obviously if my first question is irrelevant then so is this one.

sorry if im not making much sense, it's late and im tired but i cant get this subject off my mind haha

    thanks

  15. Does anybody know about how long it's taking now to have the interview after you've sent the forms? I've looked at the stats and its saying there's about 90 days after the NOA2 before the interview, but that doesn't really tell you much. It's been about 1/2 that time for us and we'll be sending the forms Monday or Tuesday.

Not sure if it matters but this is relating to the K1.

I cant speak for everybody here but it took about 55 days for me to get an interview after sending my forms in, but there was Christmas in the middle too, so hopefully things might be a bit quicker now.
