  1. Hello there, here for support :) Our NOA1 was Feb 1st and NOA2 was Oct 2nd, 2012 by VSC. No RFEs. We did contact the congressman, but not sure if that helped at all. & Filed a service request with USCIS as well. Again, it's just a waiting game. Hang in there!

One thing we missed was that we were so focused on NOA2, that we weren't very ready to move forward once it arrived. So I'd suggest finding out about documents you need for the Packet 3. Good luck!

  2. Hello all,

I just wanted to share my personal experience with medical exam and hopefully it'll help you. Your medical exam will be customized to you in regards of your personal condition & history - so this may not completely apply to everyone.

Place of choice : Istanbul, American Hospital

When to schedule it : Basically, anytime after the consulate schedules you for an appointment. But it's best to do it about a week before your interview. Mine had 9 days apart.

The choice didn't matter all that much since I would have to travel to either place. I went for Istanbul as it would be less cold & I was more familiar with it :)

Hotel recommendation : I have stayed Istanbul Suite Home (click this to check it out) a few times without a problem & I stayed at their Osmanbey branch comfortably as a female. It's close to the hospital as well. I was fine walking to it & looking around as I had time to kill. You could also take a taxi. / You can alternatively stay at Taksim,Sisli or Nisantasi it's all up to you.

Documents needed : 2 Photos + Consulate interview appointment print-out + passport + national ID card + money (see cost below)

Medical Walkthrough : Enter through the main entrance and take the elevator up to 2nd floor. Check-up department is to your right. You'll be registered by one of the administrators. She'll ask for your documentation and hand you a 2 page document which you'll fill out with your basic information & disclose the result to the US Consulate's use & let them know who'll be picking up your result.

(For females, it's extremely important to know whether you are pregnant or not before going to medical. You will be asked about it countless times that you might start feeling paranoid about the correct answer. :) The reason why they ask is that some vaccines are not meant to be done when you are pregnant as they are harmful to your unborn, they can cause anomalies as well.)

    1. Chest X-Ray : Take the elevator down to floor -1. Hand the paper to the administrator and you'll be called over. Back up to 2nd floor.

    2. Sight test, Bloodwork, Blood pressure, Weight & height stats taken

    3. Doctor's office visit.

I was actually very proud to see my (Turkish) doctor studied in Harvard :) Anyhow, he conducts a quick questionaire about your health history and lifestyle. As far as I remember, I was asked :

    a)

    - Are you pregnant?

    - Do you have a vaccination record? Have you done any vaccines lately? How about the influenza?

    - What infectious diseases you've had? - Clear this with your family as you might've had some earlier than you can remember. (In my case, this was chicken pox and I almost got that vaccine :D )

    - Major illnesses? Any surgeries?

    - Any prominent health problem in the family?

    - Your mental health history - have you ever been suicidal?

    - What do you do for a living? (He tried to determine if my work caused any particular danger to my health)

    - Do you have any tattoos or body modifications?

    b) Doc listened to my chest with a stethoscope, felt my abdomen.

    c) He decided I needed the Tetanus & diphtheria, measles & mumps and rubella (MMR-II), influenza vaccines and my nurse did them all.

    d) Payment.

Everyone has to pay 307 TL during 2012 Check-up Procedure, if you're reading this later, expect a raise.

    MMR-II : 17 TL, TD-Vac : 9 TL, Vaxigrip 9 TL, IM/SC enjeksiyon : 24 TL

    Total : 397 TL

    Next day after medical :

I was told to pick up my results at 4:30 PM, however I was there from 1 PM onwards. I was handed my results at 3 PM - a lucky coincidence. They give a sealed envelope that you are not permitted to open until you hand it to the consulate. But no worries- because they do assure you about your results. You are also given the original X-ray here - that you don't need to take to the consulate. Lastly, they give you a vaccination card & a copy of DS 3025 for you to keep.

    Overall :

Everyone working there were very pleasant to me and I had a very relaxed procedure which exceeded my expectations. I also really appreciated the free breakfast service which I didn't make use of, but I was so happy about it :)

    Good luck!

  3. We also filed for service request, but like stated above, after waiting the amount of time asked for; nothing happened. Oh, they did tell us to wait more... I don't want to disappoint you telling you the amount.

Anyhow, during that time we resorted to contacting the congressman as our last hope. We only got a response from her saying "X person from my staff will attend to this and get back at you." We didn't hear anything from this assigned staff. But NOA2 did come shortly after.

Now is there a link in between? No idea.

    But what gives?

  4. Hey guys,

I just asked my questions in the FB group. But I will post here as well hoping I'll get some peace of mind. I would so appreciate any experiences with Ankara consulate - but posting here to here from other countries as well. (Admins..please :innocent: )

When the consulate emailed me to tell me I was scheduled for interview, they asked me a list of documents to bring with me right. But in this list, (besides the obvious like passport, medical, bank receipt) they also asked for my Ds 156 and Ds 230 part 1. As well as Ds 157 (I'm a woman?!). But I have sent all of these in Packet 3? I thought it was a generic list sent out to everybody. Then again I talked to someone else doing the same consulate and she was sent a different list. Any inputs? I'll provide all the list regardless. But you know..

Also... Were you asked to submit full tax transcripts (which is about 50ish page a year so in total that's a lot of copying for all 3 years back!) at the interview? Also my fiance's tax returns say "COPY" on them. Is this fine?

    Thank you so much! :)

  5. I completely understand. It's a difficult process. Just give the CO everything you can and you'll do fine. Don't be nervous. Be calm and repeat repeat repeat you're marrying the man of your dreams because you are in love. :)

I'll go ahead and print a "Go Team Castro!" t-shirt haha no I'm kidding. But really, I submitted everything possible there was. Well so I thought, now I'll dig into our Facebook messages as well :)

I trust you hun, thank you so much!

Good luck to you!!! :) ya just listen to tolsab she knows what she's saying! I guess I'm not gonna be allowed to go in with my fiancé either to the interview but that's alright! Good luck again and let us know how it goes :)

Thanks Cassie! You ladies know it :)

I can't wait to come back to this thread with good news. Also the highlight of my day was finding out it was very very rare to get a permission for fiance to attend. So no more worries on that department.

  6. Hello all! Merhaba!

I'm the beneficiary, Turkish citizen. Our K-1 interview in Ankara is coming up. My fiance is actually coming to Turkey in that time, so we wanted to find out if we can do the interview together. I e-mailed the consulate explaining the situation. I was told no, though.

Is this something to be worried about? We should have a strong file, yet I'm deeply scared of any AP. I read the embassy reviews and some of them are too good to be true, it's such a relief.

I guess I am just rambling with nervousness, please forgive me. :bonk:

  7. We waited 7 months and 29 days (242 days). We did have an RFE but had to file a service request after that timed out.

I feel like it should be close for you. :) Hang in there. You are well past processing times and they should be giving you a speedy service request. (One can hope anyway). Good luck. Keep us posted.

Hello hun, thanks a lot! It's gotta be any day now, right??

I'm sorry it took you so long as well, such a pain this thing  ...But you gave me courage, I'm grateful!

Edit : Someone <---- (ahem!) is slow like VSC today haha. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

  8. I just five short days ahead of you so I feel your pain :( and what the heck?!?! 120 days? That's longer than the whole process SHOULD take to begin with really. I hope you get it soon. There's still a few hours left today. Fingers crossed!

I know you do...thank you hun! And as for you, it can't be any longer I think! When I see people timing out like that, they seem to get it with a small delay from a few days up to maybe 2 weeks... Oh I'm fortune reading now  But I swear it's time for you!

  9. Hello there.

Did you try calling to see what's going on?? Feb. 1st is a long time :(

Yes, as much as I can get my fiance to call, he does and the output is not much really.

We're currently pursuing the congressman's reply, to see if that generates anything.

We filed 2 service requests since our application topped the time limit.

First service request said to wait for 120 days then if we don't hear anything, to inquire back.

The second one ,which we just received the reply of this week, said to wait 60 days.

Somehow it feels like it might be around the corner, for I haven't heard of anyone waiting longer than

we did. Look below on my time ticker... Oh boy. :wow:

  10. My service request just finished the thirty days and it came back with backgrounds pending and as far as the congressional inquiry I was told to wait 45 business days for a response. I got lucky with a teir 2 rep yesterday that told me i was mistakenly on a administrative hold and put a request that is higher than a service request to get my NOA2 in five days. good luck you have been waiting longer than me i hope the best for you that something comes quickly.

Oh wow, really... I hope you really get yours soon! Thanks a lot, we probably broke a record or something. :)
