  1. Proof of relationship is required at the interview. Yes you sent evidence with the I-130 but they MAY want more. I did K1 and they looked at none of the evidence I took with me but I know others that had their evidence scrutinized.

Don't assume having a child is enough evidence.

Taking lots of bills in joint names going back 8 years...mortgages, property purchaces...etc...i really didnt want to be lugging around photo albums too, maybe i take a few just in case? i just remember when my wife was going for her aussie visa they didnt look at anything and we lugged all our stuff around then.

  2. Our medical was at 9am yesterday, but we got there REALLY early. On the off chance that they might be able to see us early, we went in at 7:30am. The doctor was able to see us right then! Hubby had to go wee in a cup, then show the doctor his shot records (hubby ended up needing his measles and mumps shot, cost $35). After that he had to go give blood, cost $25, then we had to walk a few blocks away to get his chest x-ray, cost $80. After the x-ray we walked back to the doctor's office where we paid $310 (including the cost of the shot) for the visit. Total was $410.

We had to call the doctor's office several times before our appointment because we didn't have 3 Australian sized passport photos for the appointment. We did however have 3 US sized passport photos left over from the visa process, and the doctor's office said that it would be fine, just as long as the pictures are all the same.

All on all, it was a good trip. We didn't need our A4 express envelope because we are going to personally pick up our results the morning of our visa interview (this course of action was recommended to us by Dr. Waks as there was not going to be enough time to actually send the results to the consulate before our interview).

Wow reading this sounds just like what i went through on tuesday except i had all my Vac's done beforehand and proof of immuniy to chicken pox...Im just double, tripple checking i have all my documents for tueday interview...dont think need photos or proof of relationship as we have plently of evidence plus 6 year old child...

  3. That is short notice! I actually just got an email from NVC this morning and my husband's interview is March 12th. He already has done this medical.. but we had it done too early. Well a bit too early and we had no idea how messed up our paperwork and case was going to be by the govt. He is going to call the doc on Monday and see if he has to get the whole medical redone or just a checkup type visit. I hope we can just do a checkup thing because the medical, including xrays was just under $700.

I am the USC, do I need to go to Sydney as well for the interview? I have heard it isn't required, but recommended. And I've heard especially if the USC is in the country, it's best they go along. I really want to go with my husband. How will that work for your interview if the medical report isn't there with you? I think the doc can forward the report to the consulate.

You should go to the interview too...Im hoping to push and get my med report asap...if not yes i believe i can forward the report when i get it

  4. Well, congrats to you too!!! It's a long process, eh?

I wish I had an idea of when the interview will be scheduled. I asked the lady at NVC, but she doesn't have any idea.. can't even guess how long it will take. I will wait a week or so and then probably call back. I think usually you are given about a month's notice before the interview date.

    Hope you find out soon!

Congrats. If they have your email address you will be notified shortly. The interview will be aound March some time...

  5. We had our interview last Tuesday (29/1) and were approved. As yet I haven't heard whether the visas have been printed and mailed. I've tried the tracking number with Australia post but it says no events. I'm unsure how reliable the tracking actually is.

Did anyone else interview last Tuesday and get approved, and have you heard anything yet?

This last bit of waiting is almost the worst lol

Allow up to 7 working days then email them

  6. Just wondering if anyone knows about how long it will take to get an interview for the US Consulate/Embassy in Sydney? I just called NVC on Jan 30 and found out our case was approved. Do they usually give about a month's notice before the interview? And should my husband now get the medical? Or wait until we know the exact date of the interview. Thanks so much!

I was notified of my interview on 26th Jan for the 19th Feb...very short notice!!! medical could only fit me in 13th Feb so i possibly wont get my report in time!!! plan ahead.

  7. Hey all,

received my P4 and interview appointment...WHOOO...

    Mike

  8. NVC normally gives out interview dates last week of the month till 2nd week of the following month....they hopefully will send u the appointment email early Feb and schedule the interview in March.....keep calling DOS their number is 202-663-1225....DOS normally has more info than NVC and their record is updated earlier than NVC too...and u woudnt be kept on hold for long at DOS like NVC does.....Good Luck

    thanks

  9. Priority date doesn't matter for visas where the number is immediately available. Are you married to a USC?

Your profile shows your case was completed at NVC yesterday. Now you have to wait for the file to get to Sydney and you will then be sent an interview date (I believe that's the order for CR-1).

The wait time for interview is around 1-2 months at the moment. It's usually quicker but according to reports it's slowing down.

Have a look in the Aussie forum where there are people asking the same question about interview times.

    Good luck!

Yes married to USC both living AUS for the last 8 years....Waht is DCF?

Yeah. They should be closed with the info about DCF being stopped posted. Here's a good post about it on another forum: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showpost.php?p=9437912&postcount=1

    DCF?

  10. When they say Domicile it means where you specifically live. Like an address. Not just "the USA". Providing someone's bio page of their US passport does not prove that that person lives in the US currently. If someone has thier US Passport, then they are free to live wherever they want (assuming the other country allows them to live there).

Send in a copy of the joint sponsor's driver's license with their current residence address and anything else to prove the US address of the sponsor.

thank you. i have asked joint sponsor for all this information.

I would send current bills, lease or mortgage statement, drivers license, and/or bank statements that show the person lives at a particular address in the USA.

    Lpr is legal permanent resident.

    thank you kindly

  11. Hi all.

Both beneficiary and sponsor live in Australia...making our application for CR1 visa from Australia

For our first RFE we called the NVC and asked them what was missing from the AOS packet all they told us was we needed to open a bank account in the US and provide a statement which is excactly what we did! providing the following + extra:

    1. Voting registration card along with recent federal election vote email.

    2. US bank account statement

    3. Residential Agreement Contract for where we will be living in the US.

    4. School correspondance where our child is to attend.

    5. Steps taken to sell up all assets in Australia and make plans in the US.

    6. Letter from sponsor stateing our intentions to move to the US.

    NOW:

This is the second time we have received an RFE letter...very simular check list only differance is (sponsor/joint sponsor)where as the last one on had (sponsor)

[[x] The (sponsor/joint sponsor) has not provided proof of U.S. domicile.]

Not sure what else they are after!! BLOOD??? VERY FRUSTRATING

This was also in the letter so not sure what it means?

{You will be notified when an interview has been set. Do not contact

    post regarding your interview date until you have been notified}

If anyone can suggest or assist with what we may be doing wrong that would be much appreceiated.

    Mike & Bec

  12. The current address where you legally reside is required.

    many thanks

Just to confirm, which sponsor are you talking about? Are you getting a joint-sponsor? Or are you talking about the USC/petitioner/sponsor?

If you're talking about the USC/petitioner/sponsor then put your address in Australia.

If you're talking about a joint-sponsor, then their address in Australia.

They're going to ask you about establishing domicile, and of course unless you're already back in the US working for a US company or getting money from a source that will continue after you go to the US, then you will need a joint-sponsor to pass the requirements.

    thanks

  13. 8:00am Appointment on Nov 6, 2012

7:45am Arrived Level 10 at MLC Building at Martin Place, Sydney. This is where you go through secuity and confirm your interview letter and check your purse, phone, electronics, etc.

7:57am escorted up to level 57 (or something like that); arrived and took a number and sat in waiting area and waited to be called to the window (like the DMV)

8:25am called to the window to confirm all our paperwork was in order then told to sit back down and wait to be called to the window again for our interview

9:15am called for interview. Basically you stand there and an agent confirms all your answers against what they sees on their computer screen

9:25am interview complete and visa approved

Summary of time in interview appointment start to finish: less than 15 mins speaking to someone and 1 hour 25mins waiting around/getting through security.

Questions asked (that I can remember):

    How did you meet?

Describe your relationship and how its going.

What do your parents think of your finance?

Where do you plan to live in the States?

Do you plan to work? Have you had any interviews/job leads?

How do you plan to support yourself?

Have you been to the U.S.? How long were you there?

Have you met your fiance's parents/family?

Note: I went with my fiance (visa applicant) didn't have to go but went anyway since I was in Sydney. All the questions above were for my fiance. At the end of the interview the agent ask "Do you have anything to add" and I said "No, all his answers were accurate" figuring unless she had specific questions for me I'd keep my mouth shut and about one second later she said "I believe this to be a legitimate relationship and I approve your visa application"! Easy peezee! Also note, I did all the paperwork, forms, filing, etc myself. No attorney's or visa services paid for, all on my own. If you are detailed oriented, and follow directions to a fault and have time, you can get through it. I started the process in May. So 6mos all in to get the K-1 visa for us!

    Congrats!

  14. x] The checklist below indicates missing or incomplete documents.

    Supporting Documents Missing or Incomplete

[x] The (sponsor) has not provided proof of U.S. domicile.

I think I found the result of my RFE, in the I-864 part 4, we put our address in Australia and not the address in the US...under "Domicile" we put Australia should of been USA? does anyone know if this is correct?

tired and over all this paperwork...mountains of it!!!dont know how to keep going....or stay on top of it. easier to just give up!

  15. I got the same, I put Brazil as her domicile. We got a RFE, then we sent another form (because we missed more information) and changed to US. They still required more proof of US Domicile and sent us another RFE but to be presented at the interview. We gathered more documentation including car tile, car insurance, voting record for this election ( my wife voted absentee ), bank statement, etc. I hope that will be enough.

thanks. I have also gatherd more documents....also prepared a lease agreement where we will live. voting status and proof of voting in recent election...car insurence quotes etc...
