  1. Good morning folks.

First of all, I would like to thank this forum members for their assistance in past. One of my parents file got lost by USCIS and it took national visa center and USCIS around 7+ months to find the file but luckily everything worked out fine and both parents cleared their interview last month.

Can anyone guide me to the steps required once parents land in US on Green Card. The questions I have are following:

    1) What are they supposed to file for once they get here. How long does it take for GC to arrive in mail? E.g. ssn card, drivers license/id? Anything else that I am missing.  Can they apply for these documents ONLY when they receive their green card in mail?

    2) Does anyone know if folks on GC are eligible for purchasing health insurance? I am looking for options here? Perhaps share some info if possible

    3) Regarding work, how long do they actually have to work so that they are eligible for benefits. I would like them to work and pay taxes etc but since they are old I am not sure if they could work 40 hrs. So I want to know minimum hours they can work for X number of yrs so that they get some experience in US and at same time pay taxes and contribute their share.

    4) Lastly, I would like to know how long can they be outside the country without impacting their citizenship prospectus down the road. What is the process for them to get a waiver if they want to be outside of US for a limited period of time. In a given year how long can they be out of the country. They have some commitments etc which need to be taken care of and it cannot be wrapped up in a short period of time. So  I want to know the ruling on that. If they want to leave is there a process they have to go through and apply?

Please guide me for these questions. If there is a link or page for these then do share as well. Sorry if this is repetition.

    Thank you.

  2. I am trying to revive this thread. Its been 3 months since my dad's I130 petition has been approved. I have the copy of it but NVC keeps saying that they havn't received anything from USCIS and have no record. Even when I mailed them the scanned copy of approval they haven't gotten back to me in more than a month with his case number. When I go to USCIS website, the message they have there is outdated. It says that they have received the additional information that they had requested and its in progress. The fact is that I have the I130 approval with me for last 3 months. I am not sure why USCIS website has that outdated message. Calling USCIS is another issue, I been going through the maze of dialing 2, 4, 6 etc and can never get to any live person.

At this point I don't know what to do. I am not sure if I hire lawyer will they ask me to start from scratch or continue where its stuck. Looks like the USCIS has not sent the file to NVC in over 3 months now. Their website has outdated status when I enter the case number and i am unable to reach a live person. Any advice would be appreciated. My parents priority date is a year old now. If I prolong my moms application at NVC due to my dad's lost application, I am not sure if she will run out of time by the time these guys find my dad's file or even if they ever find it .....

  3. Hello everyone,

I posted question earlier about separate cases for both parents. I was under impression that NVC case number is for both parents in this case (husband and wife) but recently I came to know that it is not for both individuals. So in my situation moms case is with NVC pending fee payment on my behalf but my dad's application for I130 has been lost on its way from USCIS to NVC. I called NVC 3 weeks ago inquiring about my dad's case and they didn't have any record of his application. So I sent them the I130 approval and hopefully they will find his file. I am bit surprised how his file can be lost. Basically, I have a copy of his I130 approval but NVC says they haven't received anything from USCIS and it has been over 2+ months since his I130 was approved.

Anyone in this situation please share your experience.... Looks like I have to get help from an immigration lawyer to assist me in this matter.

Finally, I had a question, perhaps someone can assist me. My parents both have multiple entry valid US visit visa for next 3-4 yrs. While their immigration process continues (I130 has been approved), can they come and visit me in the time being? Will they be questioned at the airport and asked to give up either their immigration process or their visit visa. I hear conflicting information so I just wanted to ensure if they can visit temporarily and go back while their case progresses at NVC. Please let me know..

    Thanks

  4. Hello folks,

I have sent email to NVC but for some reason I never get a reply from them. I filed my parents case last year. My moms I130 got approved earlier this year and they needed more clarifications for my dads I130. I did receive my moms NVC package before my dads I-130 was approved. Fast forward, my dad's I130 was approved after providing requested affidavits etc. Now on CEAC website,

    1) Choice of agent DS-261 is completed

    2) AOS support fee is paid

    3) Applicant information: Principal applicant is showing my moms name and the fee that i should pay is $325. The question I have is where is my dad? He is not showing up anywhere on NVC. This IV fee is per person and I don't even see his name. So will he get a separate package? I don't want to pay my moms fee and just progress her case. I want them both to be together.

Anyone who went through similar experience? where USCIS requested clarification on one of the family member while approving the other? In this case, both I-130 have been approved for my parents. It has been more than a month but my dad info is not showing up on NVC? Is he supposed to be part of same NVC package as my mom or separate? Please advise. I sent two emails to NVC asking them if my father should be added in same application or should I expect a new package for him? No reply and its been 3+ weeks.

    Thanks

  5. Hey guys, I am May 2015 filer and been waiting since my fingerprinting on June 2015. Haven't heard anything yet. I saw some activity on this thread so I will actively monitor it. I submitted online inquiry and looked up my representatives and senators based on zip but I am hesitant to contact their office. All the senators and representatives I see in my area are Republicans? Is it a lost cause contacting their office for any help or is there any hope? Please advise

  6. I received my GC yesterday in mail.

People who got RFE, I just want to let them know that I feel their pain and I sincerely hope that their issues get resolved on time and they get their 10 yr green card before end of this year or before Christmas. I have gone through numerous immigration hassles in the past and I was told that because I was from a certain region I need to make sure I don't give any chances for RFE on my application. So I submitted HUD statement, leasing documents, son's birth certificate, credit cards, phone bills, car titles, affidavits from friends relatives etc with both our names on it. I understand that most of the people don't need all that and they can still get their renewal without any hassles but in our case as per my lawyers recommendation we basically took no chances.

Offcourse we learned it hard way initially after being on administrative processing for 5-6 months at the time of conditional GC processing. If I had not experienced any problems in the past I would have not taken the route of lawyer but in my case it made sense. So not trying to justify my reasoning but just sharing my experience from past. Now every time I reach an immigration milestone, I go back and think how difficult the initial stages were. Just so to remind myself not to take things for granted. Might not be the case for everyone...

For some the difficult stages might not be in the beginning but towards the middle or end. Just hang in there and have patience. You will make it.....

Good luck to everyone. Thanks for all your suggestions and I will be back on this forum after I apply for N400

  7. the green card is for 2 years not 3, if this was a typo then your window will open on 03/14/2015

Sorry I should post this question in right place but since I already posted here let me clarify. (Sorry for confusion and posting it here). I read somewhere people who get GC through spouses are eligible for naturalization 3 yrs after GC and one can apply 90 days before 3 yr anniversary of GC. So original GC is for 2 yrs and after 10 yr extension if you count 3 yrs from the first GC then it is from the first day of getting original conditional GC + 3 yrs.

Or is it that you have to count 3 yrs from the new GC that you receive after the conditional GC expires? I am confused

  8. So I called multiple times until I got through talking to a live person. The initial support person didn't have much info but she then transferred me to next level support which had a wait time of over 200 mins. Yes, I signed up for auto call back once someone was available and I received a call back 2+ hrs later. The person mentioned that she didn't see any RFE or interview request under my file yet but went on to say that can change anytime later. Basically she was like 6 months is a ballpark figure and wait time can take upto a year :cry: Anyways, she raised an escalation request. Provided me some tracking number and told me based on this request I should hear back from them in 7-10 days. So I guess I will follow up again around Halloween or early next month if I don't hear anything back from them. Eitherway, the one year time frame got me a bit worried. All I can do now is sit back and hope for the best :clock:

  9. Thanks. I been calling since morning. It makes me enter my case number and then there is no option to reach customer service rep. Does anyone know what I have to enter. I pressed 1 for english, then 2 for case number and then here is automated recording. It says 8.00-6pm but gives no timezone. I am in CST and I know even in PST its after 8 by now.

How do I go to manual options?

    Thanks

Yes.The number you can call. When you call the number, you can wait till the "Manual service",so you can tell them your question. You can keep calling till you get your answer.Good Luck.

  10. I would say that if you are at the 6 month mark it is worth calling. They have stated their time frame is 6 months from acceptance of the package to have a decision. I will be calling my congressman on the day after our 6 month date as we are going to be moving soon. I do not want to deal with this still after moving.

Ok thanks for your advice. Will call them tomorrow and lets see

  11. After talking with my husband they don't believe we have a real marriage.

The person who called him up first told my husband she said you are today whole(hot)topic and asked why we send all those pages. She pulled our application from it and gave it all to my husband and told him to take it all home.

A black woman interviewed him and she appeared to be mad at my husband and taunted him through all 3 interviews. She told him straight out that she was going to denial our application.

2 women had been approved while he was there and 2 men both received blue letter of denial.

It was an emotional denial. That woman didn't want to believe us nor approve us. She was pist off already because of the 2000+ pages that I sent to prove our marriage. Had she really went through all those pages she would have found that we have a real time marriage and EVERYONE around us is involved with us and our process. Both our family living it daily with us...Everyone knew of it and supported us. My children, family and friends and his family and friends all wrote letters in detail. I went into detail not to leave any questions for whom ever was going to go through those documents. Made it easy to read and coded it all so that it was easy to find what they were looking for. Supplied ALL phone numbers, addresses of each person in both our families for them to contact. Went into detail.

First of all I am a Financial Controller at a local company and I am very detailed person and keep records of everything because it is my job. I also follow through into my personal life and run it like a business as well. I never would have thought being this organized would cause such a huge issue. In fact I will fight this with all my power and knowledge and have it over turned....I am that much pist off. Pardon my language please.

Its really sad that the woman behaved this way. Can you throw some light on your relationship with your husband. Is it your first marriage, do you belong to same race etc etc? What made them think that your marriage is a sham?

  12. HOW CAN MUSLIM LIVE IN USA CAN THEY WEAR EVERYTHING THEY WANT

WHAT ABOUT WEARING ANNI9AB IS IT PRMESSIBLE

First of all please type in small caps. Basically don't TYPE LIKE THIS. Instead type like this :)

Depending on what state you are in you can find the local mosque on the internet. Everything legal is permissible but if you don't want weird looks try to dress like other people around you. You might get away with certain things in bigger cities where people are much used to interacting with practicing Muslims...

  13. One of the jobs that always works in Chicago is driving cab especially if you are from pakistan. Now you don't have to own the cab license (its outrageously expensive) but you can drive the cab for people who own cab medallions. The cabs need to run 24/7 and its pretty decent money. I had a roommate who used to drive cab part time in Chicago while he was in college. Paid for his out of state tuition and other expenses. Worth a try. Good luck
