  1. Yes, its possible if the marriage wasn't planned and you had no intent to do such before arriving here. Go for it, the process is smoothly easy and takes around 4-6 months depending on your state. Good Luck :)

There is no 30-60-90 days thing - one of my friend applied for adjustment when he was only here 30 days. He wasn't even asked that question, the immigration officer only asked him about his marriage and that's it.

  2. Hello Friends,

Thank you all for your replies - quite honestly, this case belongs to my friend who is also my neighbour. He is from Pakistan and he told me that he got his divorce according to the religious law over there, and it is issued by the government of Pakistan. One weird thing he told me that he didn't even go to Pakistan to divorce his wife. His family priest did all the paperwork - he said, he dont have to sign any document. According to his religion he can divorce his wife in front of two witnesses pretty much anytime, anywhere in the world and tell the government. No court hearins is involved unless the wife challenges the divorce - which was not done in his case.

  3. Hello All,

My friend went to his naturalization interview last week. He passed the test, however, the officer has asked him to provide his previous marriage, divorce certificates and his current marriage certificate. He applied on a 5 year rule and immigrated on green card through his mother. I'm not sure why the officer is looking for those documents as he did not get his green card through marriage. The problem is: he can't find his first wedding marriage certificate now as his entire house was destroyed in Sandy. The officer has asked him to bring his documents on Monday - please advise what he should do in this scenario and what should he tell the officer. The officer have not approved his case yet - pending the wedding certificates.

By the way, both of his marriages were performed in his country of origin.

  4. Thank you Little - also in part 3. it is asking 'Date of Intended Departure' and 'Expected Length of Trip'. Well she is not planning to go anywhere now - but I'm just applying for the parole document just in case if there is any emergency. Also, it says 'If you are applying for an Advance Parole Document, skip to Part 7.'Does that mean I should not answer Question 5. Which is 'Where do you want this travel document send?'Also, do i need to answer part 4.5.6. looks like they dont apply to her as well. Please see images to have clear idea of what i'm talking about and thank you in advance.post-129837-0-37728900-1333573480_thumb.jpgpost-129837-0-02129300-1333573484_thumb.jpg
