Got the visa packet resealed in one visit, but embassy staff put up a resistance. We provided our itinerary to show that our flight this week, and at each step they asked about our departure date. Other applicants were forced to send back their corrections via 2go since they had not yet booked a flight.

Hey all, anyone got experience with damaged visa packets? Ours arrived with a 2.5 inch gash on the lower left hand corner. We didn't notice until we took it out of the outermost plastic cover. Our current plan is to take it back to the embassy for assessment. Advice? Experience?

I have a question for anyone from the Philippines. My wife and I just returned to the Philippines. She requested the Balikbayan 1 year visa free privileged for her and myself. However the immigration officer did not speak English and she did not speak Tagalog. He seem to just stamped a normal entry visa. We asked twice and he said it was good for 1 year but no where did he write a date noting the approved 1 year stay.
Has anyone had any experience with this and know what the correct stamp should look like and what info should be on it. Is there anyone to correct this now after we have entered the country? We are worried we will now have problems when we leave the country of them possibly saying I have over stayed and charging us large fines or something. The only info the stamp has on it is the arriving flight number. Nothing in the space of the date except some type of scribbles that you cannot make out.
We entered on a blaikbayan visa 6 weeks ago. I got the usual entry stamp in my passport, but the difference is the allowable stay date written in is the current date + one year.

I swear there are zero more ways this visa BS can #### me over.
Just got ANOTHER checklist for my AOS packet- again asking for proof of employment. Which, as I explained in the last cover letter, I don't turn in because I WORK ABROAD AND WILL QUIT MY JOB. I'm using assets for support.
I swear to god....
I'm so glad I contacted my senator a few weeks back about the original BS checklist I got. Here's to hoping a supervisor review goes quickly. Jesus ###### christ.
I got checklisted for a similar problem. I provided my resignation letter, but the reviewer was not satisfied. I had to send in a letter directly addressing the NVC about my work status. After that, I got checklisted for a police certificate that we do not require, but we got that cleared up through a supervisor. This saved us a 2-3 month delay. We got case complete earlier this week.

I would not assume these though as barcodes between AOS and IV have different wording. The mailing addresses are the same though except for the Attn part... So I would assume that these IV barcodes can't be used for AOS and vice versa. To avoid confusion in NVC part.
Anyone can jive in and tell me otherwise but me personally, I won't use AOS barcodes for IV processing.
Thanks.
The bar code is nothing more than the case no. in code-39 format, but there are some other key differences between the two cover sheets.

Does the TSC send out a notice that your case is sent to the NVC? Yesterday I received 3 responses to all the service requests I sent over the last few weeks. One response stated that it was responding to 3 inquires all at once ( LOL) anyway, the response form TSC said my case is not with them anymore, that is was sent to the NVC and gave me all the contact information in the response. SO, is there an officially shipped notice? Will I get a text? Just wondering
Yes, the TSC will send a notice once they send it out. The bad news is that they can be kind of slow sending it out after approval. In my case, it was 3 weeks.

I'm living abroad, but the process is taking so long that I just might need to go back to the states a couple months early to settle down. If I do, will I need to go back for the interview?
Some embassies encourage the petitioner to attend, others may require it, while others don't even want the petitioner present. The question is, which embassy?

Hi guys,
Here is the current situation. My wife is a chinese national, and has lived in china for the last 26 years. last june, we got married, and she moved to hong kong with me (on a dependent visa). Her visa renewal will come up in June 2014 as it was a 1 year visa. There is a chance that her visa renewal might get denied, as we had been on vacation for a while this past year, which would mean that she would have to go back to china.
Currently, our I-130 was just received by NVC on March 5th. When it comes time for an interview, I am curious if I should select Guangzhou china (since she would be guaranteed to be able to go to that one), or go to Hong Kong. The problem with china is that she would have to put her parents address in Hunan, since she doesnt have an apartment in china anymore.
Do you guys have any tips as to what to do? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Your case number will be determined by the beneficiary's current residence, which seems like Hong Kong. If she cannot interview in HK, you will need to get a new case number, which takes time. I'm in the process of doing just that, but I'm not even sure if the NVC has yet read my email from Feb. 21st. As such, I'm progressing under my current case number and I hope to at least send in my IV docs before they put a hold on my case. Beware: if they send it to the wrong embassy, you're looking at months-long delays.

Great. Another thing to worry about. Is there a chance that you have start the process over again over issues of domicile? If that's the case, after all this, I'm moving back home before the interview!
-
haha ok so that's another thing off the list - Thanks!
My cover sheet reads "Attn. CMR AOS"
Another thing, I emailed them about a new case number last week, but still no response. They acted so quickly for your case?

Howdy from Texas! I just got my NOA2 from TSC for my I-130! So I'm eager for the NVC Stage and pray that they are not taking more than 4 months total!
TSC waited three weeks before sending my approved case to the NVC, but if you're lucky they'll send it out in a week. Things at the NVC are slowing down a bit, but getting it done less than 4 months from where you are now is realistic, but maybe not if you get a checklist.

Uno suggestion - give that tough love to those who ask for amnesty as if its their birthright
Those who dont learn english, fly flags of their own countries while asking for american identity
Let those welfare loving thugs be the recipients of your hard hitting comments.
That's an awful lot of generalizations for just one post. You might want to split it up into different posts; you know, to balance things out a bit.

Guys who is the NVC doing delay wise ?
Are we still at 42 days or 30 business days from i-130 approval to Case Num/Invoice Num ?
Counting days from I-130 approval is not terribly useful, considering that TSC waits 2-5 weeks to send a case to the NVC, though CSC and NSC are more consistent. At the current rate, expect a case no. 20-30 business days from the day the NVC receives the file. The way things are going lately, 20 business days is a very optimistic estimate.

Finally got my case number and IIN. I tried to change my case number and interview location over the phone, but I was told that that can only be done in writing. I spoke to several supervisors, all of whom gave me the same answer. My case will then be on hold until I my new case number is issued.

Or apparently I am wrong, because I am a USC, I should write domicile as US and then show all my documents supporting the fact that I'll re-establish this?
I took this approach, and demonstrated in what ways I've maintained US domicile over the years, and steps I'm now taking to fully reestablishing US domicile. Any opinions from others here?

They should have realized it was going to be a problem when they stopped sending applications out to the field offices in the beginning of Feb.
Yes. I was being generous! If USCIS had been the least bit proactive, they would have either continued sending them to field offices, or began diverting them to service centers. They did neither. When did management finally figure out that Division 8 hiring was not working out? Sure wish we could see some more internal emails from those months.
-
Which article are you referring to? Thanks
It is laughable!
"The unnamed source explained that USCIS "took swift action," and has shortened the waiting period back to eight months. By the summer, it aims to shorten it further — to five months."
This unnamed source has redefined the word "swift". It now means hold off any action for five months, and then overwhelm the service centers with hundreds of thousands of dusty petitions. The slowdown began in May 2013 and nearly came to a standstill from July to mid-Oct, when the workload finally began to service centers. Even then, the service centers didn't start moving petitions until a couple weeks later. USCIS should have detected the problem in May when things began slowing down and been proactive.

after a reread - sorry, I suddenly remember you are attempting to rehome yer casefile to another embassy. The petitioner should have called on 'getting IIN day', gotten a supervisor THEN, and asked for the rehome to another embassy. Done then? it's about 48 hours to get it rehomed.
The ideal time for rehoming is at the time you get the IIN? I have a similar situation as hunnymoon, but still no case number to speak of.

Feb. ~ June have just been merged. You can just filter our the service centers you don't want by clicking on the location column and deselecting the other service centers. Perhaps talk to the July and Aug. admin about getting access and adding their info here. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Anpi244OAt_IdGJCbzZHckUyZ0w5MjFtSXRRRFQ0M1E#gid=0

Just when things look like they are becoming somewhat predictable, they pull the rug out from under you. This not unlike what happened to mid-February filers: USCIS was cruising along, and then adjudications came to screeching halt without warning. Do not wait around and hope for something to happen. Many here just waited and hoped for weeks and then months for Overland Park to have their grand opening, but that day never came. Finally, after we started making some serious noise, we got some movement.
If you have waited more than 60 days after your transfer, then you should really start making some serious noise. If you are after that transfer cutoff date, then you too should start making some noise. We all hope this is a sign that the NBC is going to start adjudicating more cases, but you must set a solid date when you're going to respond to their inaction, or else the weeks will become months. Do not allow a repeat of what happened to our fellow February and March filers. USCIS seems to have no problem with letting a particular type of case pile up.

Hello All,
This is the first time I am writing in VJ. Really appreciate everyone's feedback. The comments are very much valuable to each and every existing members and the new ones. Hats off to this community!!!
MY PD- 06/25/2013
My case got transferred to TSC on DEC 30th, 2013. Anyone have any idea how long it will take to get RFE or Approval after the case got transferred (TSC) ?
Expect NOA2 four to eight weeks after transfer. After NOA2, expect to wait two to four more weeks more before the TSC really sends the approved case to the NVC. You should refer to the spreadsheets to see how they're handling cases.
-
If the formulas have not been changed, then all the August filers need to do is refrain from putting X, CSC, NSC, or TSC in the transfer column. Any other entry is not counted, and does not show up in the summaries or pie charts. "X" was originally intended to represent cases which have been transferred, but the petitioner still hasn't found out where yet.
