  1. Hi all,

we applied for N-400 in early August, got the first receipt for case access online on August 10th, and Biometrics appointment on August 30th. We mailed our applications to Lewisville dropbox.

I needed help in understanding few things:-

    1. Service center/Field office, the biometrics appointment said service center = NBC, so what is NBC? and is my field office already Dallas or the case hasn't been transferred yet? "We live in Dallas"
    2. If I check the processing time for N-400, it says Dallas working on March 28th case but website hasn't been updated since September 30th.

Any suggestions or guidance to how long this will take will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    K & Z

  2. Hi,

We just received the letter mentioning that her I-751 is approved and that she should be receiving her green card in the mail within 2 months. She will be travelling in 3 weeks. What do I need to do if her Green card is not in hand yet. Should I go to USCIS to get her passport stamped and travel with letter for I-751 that extended her green card for one year?

    Would appreciate the help.

    Thanks,

    Khaled

  3. Hi,

My wife is travelling to Bangladesh in March and returning to USA on July 20th, however, her green card (temporary two years) is set to expires 26th August. So, she is returning before it expires. Just wanted to know if that would be any problem.

Also, Can we apply for the Removal of Conditions when she is out of the country? I mean we can prepare all the stuff and mail it 90 days before the card expires while she is outside the country to start the process. Would appreciate all of your thoughts on the matter.

Just on a side note, how long does it take to process ROC? Do they actually finish before it's time to apply for naturalization?

    Thanks,

    -K

  4. I got the same notice, but her medical hasn't expired yet. They highlighted the signed part only. So, we signed another printout and mailed it. Hopefully they actually look at it before it actually expires in July.

You can find the Dr.s at:-

    https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=CIV

I started calling them anyways and they range $150 to $700. So, start dialing, just ask for the examination as you should already have the vaccination record from embassy interview.

    Good luck

  5. It should be approved anytime now according to https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do

They're processing applications all the way to August 18th and you filed on the 6th. Hopefully something happens this month.

I am a little confused as to where you are seeing the August 16th date. Under National Benefits Center there is no reference to I-485.

Would really appreciate your reference point.

  6. Google is not always helpful in this case. You can use the following website:-

    http://www.zabihah.com/

After you search by your Zip code or narrow down by clicking through country/ state you can see the restaurants and there will be a tab for grocery stores as well and most of these grocery store usually will carry Halal meat. In terms of regular grocery stores, unless you live in high concentration of Muslim population, it's rare that you will find Halal Meat in those stores.

  7. Hello VJers,

We filed for her AOS along with EAD & AP August 8th and got our EAD/AP card on October 15th. However, there is no sign of the green card (AOS approval or any updates). We are going to be in seven months tomorrow? I think the application is in national benefits center or something like that.

Just wanted to anyone was out there in the same boat? or anyone has any suggestions? Should we contact our Senator or something like that?

    Appreciate the help as always.

  8. Not really clear about your question, But here is the deal:-

If she wants to apply for you as a K1 visa, she has to sponsor you with I-134. In I-134 she has to meet income guidelines. For Bangladesh Embassy, They DO NOT ACCEPT Co-Sponsor in case of K1 visa. Either she has to make enough income or have the asset to qualify the requirement by herself. If she started earning money in 2013 that is sufficient enough than she have show proof 2013 earnings statements, letter from employer etc.

If she can't meet the income guidelines by herself, your option is to get married and file for IR1/CR1 visa, which accepts Co-Sponsor.

  9. Hi All,

My wife was helping fill out a tourist visa application for her Mom. My wife came here with a K1 visa in July'12. We applied for her adjustment of status in August with AP & EAD. She has already received AP & EAD. However we are still waiting for the Adjustment of Status.

Now, in the tourist for her application, it asks what is the visa status of the relative (my Wife). It gives the following options:-

    US citizen

    Legal US Permanent Resident

    Non immigrant

    Other/I don't know

Well, she not a US Citizen yet and her Permanent Resident Status has not been approved yet. She is kind of on a Immigrant visa, so, "Non Immigrant" doesn't really count. Thus, "Other/I don't know" is the best answer?

Or should I pick "Legal US Permanent Resident" because she is in the process of adjusting?

Appreciate all your thoughts and experience.

  10. After you submit your packet 3, send them an email saying when can you expect a date. They usually tell you that, in 4 weeks they will let you know.

Wait 2-3 weeks ask politely if they need anything else or if there is any update to interview date. In my case they replied to the email with all the documents and date, never got physical copy of it.

Email them at DhakaIV@state.gov with Subject: Regarding K1 case status of LAST NAME,FIRST NAME(DHK2012XXXXXX)

    Hope this helps

ps: in sub use the name of person who is the visa for :)

  11. Hello VJers,

    Pretty simple questions.

    1) Is there a interview when adjusting status from K1 visa process?

    2) I already got her EAD & AP approved and got the card. But for some reason on the USCIS website, if I check from the I-485 application it's status still says "Acceptance". Not even "Initial Review", should I be worried and contact them? or it's just the way they it it till they approve it?

    Appreciate your help.

  12. I think OP is talking about 2018 naturalization. So, it's more than 5 years.

Please note, if she is not going to pursue study and just get F1 visa to come and get married and establish residence here, that would be visa fraud. If she is here with F1 visa to study over here, she is perfectly fine to come over here and you guys can get married here in the US.

Once you guys are married, you can apply for her process, however, it's 3-4 years process. If you apply while a GC holder than become a citizen, you can contact the USCIS and upgrade to Citizen spousal processing.

One point about separation, to be qualified for 5 years Citizenship application. you would have continuing residence in USA. So, till she comes in 2017. You can only outside the US less than 6 months in a year. And as far I know there is no waiver for that. Someone more knowledgeable may be able to help.

  13. I need some help filling this form out, if people do not mind.

    Section 3:

It asks for "affidavit is executed on behalf of the following person" I would assume this is my fiance but below that it says. (That is Correct)

"Name of spouse and children accompanying or following to join person:" Who do i put here? myself? or do I put her name again? we do not have any children at all so this part confuses me. (If she doesn't have any children that is part of your petition, Just say "None")

    Section 7:

I am employed as or engaged in the business of _[Type of business](Your Rank)_ with _[Name of concern](United States ARMY or whichever your serving under)_ at _[Address and name of street ](I guess you can either put where you are stationed or an admin address)_

I am in the US military and I do not know what to put in these blocks or sections...

    Section 8:

It talks about people who are dependent upon you... I do not have anybody but my fiance and she is already being stated as that with this form... so do i put her again? (Just put "None")

    Section 11:

If i check intend it means I have to declare how much money i plan on giving her monthly? and for the duration? do i just put life...?

( I checked Intend and wrote:- "Room, board and all other necessities of life for XXXXXX as my Fiancée until we are married. After marriage, I will continue to support her as my wife.")

Thank you for the help with this. I looked but only found questions about when to fill it out and such. I also read that we need supporting documents... and that my LES would suffice for the most part. Somebody suggested that I get a letter from my command stating my current enlistment time and how much longer I will be in and put it in a memo format and have it signed by the CO of my command... i plan to do both. Is there anything else I might need to submit? Thank you for this help as I am going to be asking for our interview very soon.

Try to get you IRS tax return transcripts for last 1 upto 3 years. If possible 2011 return along with W2. I also gave my bank statements. You can go to the bank ask for something that has opening date, current balance, average balance stuff like that)

last question, kinda unrelated. I have been looking at alot of time lines and people get their interview and approved but they do not fly out of where they are for a month or 2 after. Does it take time once you are approved? or if she gets her visa she could fly out the very next day?

(It depends on Embassy when and how they hand back the Passport with the VIsa, In our case, she picked it up a day after her interview and she flew that night  )

  14. In short,

    Your wife files I-864

    And,

If your mother-in-law has sufficient income individually:-

Just file another I-864 and mention she is the only Joint sponsor.

If not, If your father-in-law has sufficient income individually:-

Just file another I-864 and mention he is the only Joint sponsor.

If neither has enough enough income individually, have one of them fill out I-864 and the other I-864a to combine their income to show affidavit of support.

Hope this helps. Please correct me if I misstated something.
