  1. Hi VJ Family!

It has been a while since I have been on this forum. My wife is a UK Citizen and we processed via K1 visa. We have been married for over 5 years now and she does hold a US Permanent Resident Green Card. I am trying to get back into the swing of things here and need a jump start. We have bought our own place about 2 years ago but we have not updated her ID Card or Green Card with the new address. Question is, how difficult is it to have the address changed? Are there fees involved? Lengthy Process? And most importantly do we need to update her address for when we start her Naturalization process?

Also after how many years can my wife apply for Naturalization?

    Thanks!

  2. do you mean I 797c ?

Did you get the Form I-797 Receipt Notice, indicating that they received your ROC petition, paperwork, payment, etc.?

If so, please read the first paragraph of that receipt notice. It is your official notice of a one-year extension of the conditional resident status, including employment and travel authorization. KEEP THAT RECEIPT NOTICE IN A SAFE PLACE!

You are now waiting like the rest of us for either a RFE, an approval, or an interview. :clock: We just passed our six months of waiting at the end of February 2015. My wife has continued to work, and we have traveled to Canada (with her passport, expired Green Card, and the Receipt Notice).

OP: While you are waiting, :time: It helps everyone that uses the forum, or is helped by the forum.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

  3. So My Wife and I completed her I-751 months in advance and sent it off End of December 2014. Checks cashed, interview with biometrics happened on Jan 22nd 2015, now we're waiting for her new 10 yrs green card.

She called USCIS and said they are backlogged from July and advised her to make an appointment. Her card expires and next available date is 3/27/15 which we made an appointment for.

Question is will she be able to work still? she is currently working... I need help...

  4. They won't interview you separately unless they have fraud suspicions on your case. Just have all the documents on the checklist ready and well-organized, and go there without being nervous. If you did everything correctly and that your relationship is real, the interview won't even look like an interview. Questions are simple, answer honestly and truthfully.

Read reviews from other VJ members who interviewed at the SF USCIS office: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/

It helps to know what to expect. Good luck! :)

Wow thanks Didopage! We will go in there with big smiles on our faces.. I am very excited to go now, and do you know if this the last of our step? as in will she get her green card soon? or is it a long wait still...

  5. Hi All!

So next week my wife and I have our interview at the USCIS office in San Francisco and the notice included a checklist of things to bring with us to our interview including the spouse (me) to come. My question is that will they separate the both of us and ask us questions? What will this whole interview entail? We are both curious and a bit nervous to say the least. However she was approved and granted her work document, and her travel document is also approved but yet to recieve it. Needless to say it is going smooth thus far, but just a little worried about the interview with USCIS for my wife's AOS. Any help is greatly appreciated. Once again I love my VJ Family!!!!!!!!! with out you all I wouldn't be with my wife right now! :)

    thanks!

  6. Hi VJ Family!

I have a question, my wife is scheduled to have her biometrics appointment on a monday at 12PM, and since I am the only one to take her I will have to take some time off from work. My question, generally how long do they take from the appointment time to when I leave their building once my wife completes her biometrics. In other words will they take more than 2 hours?

    Thanks for the help!

  7. If you had all the required vaccinations at the time of your medical, even if your DS-3025 is marked 'incomplete- may be eligible for blanket waiver', you can skip the civil surgeon and just send a copy of your DS-3025 with your AOS documents. If you still need vaccinations, or had any done after your medical, then you need to see a civil surgeon to get an I-693.

Check this post to see if your DS-3025 ok to send as is: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/335754-ds-3025-complete-or-not/page__view__findpost__p__4971318

Just to add a minor correction to one of the posts above, even if you do not have a copy of the DS-3025 you still are not required to get a whole new medical if yours was done within a year of filing for AOS. You also would not have to see a civil surgeon for the vaccination transcription onto the I-693 if you are certain you had all the required vaccinations and your DS-3025 was filled out properly because the USCIS will have the original that is with the rest of your medical documents from the sealed envelope you handed over at your POE.

thank you, now i have a concern... my wife had everything checked off on the list of the link you gave... only issue I see is the:

•Td or Tdap or DT or DTP or DtaP (One no longer than 10 years ago, ie.have a booster)

which on her ds-3025 says 01.19.2000 and since after her examination there she went to her general practitioner and received all necessary booster shots, TD and TDAP to make her immunizations up to date and we have a printed record from her general practitioner... do we still need a i-693?

  8. I would suggest getting it in the maiden name regardless of before or after marriage. Your local government person does not have a clue about immigration hassles. You're going to have to go back after she gets the greencard to change status, so change the name then to the married name on her greencard.

USCIS is telling me to she gets her SSN after marriage and AOS? Also for a K1 am I to applye for I-485 or I-693? In california they are processing I-485 from March 8, 2011... thats over a year and a half...

  9. Hello,

So my fiance from London arrived now my question is... I was told by the courthouse and social security office that she does not need a social security number to get married. So they advised us to get married first so that when she applies for her SSN she will be able to apply with her new last name, which is mine. They said it would save a step. My question is, is this true? Please help...

    thank you!!

  10. So my Fiancee and I are going with the K1 visa, and her interview with the Embassy is next week. Once she is granted her Visa and she flies to California, would it be legal for her to work remotely? Her company in UK wants to keep her hired on as long as she can, so she can work from my home during the week. Does anybody know if this is possible? legal? illegal? Once she comes here we will file for a civil ceremoney and start the AOS and all other necessary steps for her green card... any help and information is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!!

  11. it looks like my fiancee wont be getting her k1 by sept 25th, and most likely sometime in october... would it be okay for her to visit cali and come back with me after our indian ceremony in london on the 22 sept? she can come on a visitor visa correct? and fly back in a few days to UK and go back to work until she has her embassy interview? please let me know.. thanks so much!

also when she comes to cali does she say shes here visiting her fiancee? or family? or friends?

  12. When sending her your I-34 and supporting evidence, remember to include a New Letter of Intent to Marry, signed & dated. A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail. Proof of your ongoing relationship. This needs to be taken to the interview, Include photos, travel documents, emails, etc. from between the time you filed and present. Good Luck to you :)

does the i-134 paper work and letter of intent to marry and copy of engagement ring receipts to be included when my fiance mails to the embassy? or is she to bring all of this to her interview? or copies?

btw thank you for your help... and everyone here, i love this website!!!

  13. Hi All,

So my Fiance in London received her packet yesterday for the DS 156k, DS 156, DS 230, and DS 157. For DS 156K I will need to send her a completed I-134 correct? With a letter from my employer of salary and years worked etc. My question that scares me the most is that I make about $41k a year and I have no savings account, but just checking. I currently live with my parents and it is customary that I live with them since I am the only son. I have read about a "co-sponsor" but I have not seen any instructions on that or have failed to find it, but I did look. I also do not own a car as everything is under my fathers name, and he has a mortgage on the house as well that we all pay. Will not having a savings account deny our visa? Can I show what I have in my checking account? It isn't much but just a couple grand. Please help... Please... thanks!

  14. I have filed the I-129 F papers and were received to USCIS on Jan 30th, 2012. I am hoping that we are granted our K1 ASAP but the latest would be June 2012 with the 5 month window. Our main concern is once we marry in June (at the latest) and file for I 765, 485 and 131 that she has to stay in California until her 131 travel document is approved. The immigration's officer indicated 3-6 months which falls way past our Indian ceremony to be held in UK in Sept which means we cannot travel to UK with out abandoning our case. Our wedding invitations are already printed and the deposit for the wedding hall is already booked. I was told by the immigration's officer that I should write a letter to expedite the I-131 telling them our situation of our hindu ceremony and we may be granted the 131 sooner than 3-6 months. But now reading on this forum I have came across AP (advance parole) which I am a bit confused about. Does anyone know what I can do so we dont miss our hindu ceremony in London?? Please please help!

Also is the Indian wedding ceremony a good enough "emergency" reason to receive an AP?
