  1. Hi Guys - I have my GC and now I'm wondering what constitutes a change of career? So, if I decide to move into a new job, how similar does it have to be? Does it have to be the same/similar job in the same field, or can I do the same/similar job in a different field (i.e. move from project management in construction to project management in healthcare) or stay in the same field but do a different job? Any ideas? Also, does a career / field change impact anything other than naturalization down the road??

P.S. I have been in the US for 9 years and in my current GC job for 2 years.

  2. So, did you just repeat all that has concisely emphasized in previous posts with the above long essay of yours? :wow:

well, I guess it demonstrates your expertise in such matter!

by the way i totally accept your verdict on my post, you should return the favor

just kidding... dont take things too serious dude... just laugh it off..:ot2:

I'm not sure why you're so angry about the community responding to those who are asking for information? It's very unfortunate. :crying:

If people are looking for an 'expert' opinion, they would be asking an immigration attorney, no?!! :help:

The intent here (correct me if I'm wrong) is for people to SUPPORT each other, and share their experiences. So, yes....that's EXACTLY what I did in my 'essay'

Take a chill pill, dude...life really isn't that bad!! :bonk:(L)

P.S. thanks for motivating me to use the emoticons for the first time. Super fun

  3. Hello Everyone!

I sent all my papers to Chicago (I 130 - I 485 and others) to Chicago on the 12th of March and on 21st I got in the mail my 4 notifications saying that they recieved and to wait for my biometrics appointment. My question is, HOW LONG is it going to take for the Biometrics appointment letter to arrive? How long does it usually take? I am making AOS from B1/B2 visa.

    Thanks!!!!

The time will vary based on your local office and how many other cases they are processing. My bio appointment notice took 6 weeks and was scheduled for 2 weeks after that (so 8 weeks from receipt notice to appointment). I thought it seemed pretty long compared with other's experiences (most get an appointment notice within 30 days and some within a couple of weeks) -- however, my AOS was approved just 2 weeks after the bio appointment, so my process as a whole has been pretty short (I was adjusting from H1B). The key is to try and relax during the process :) GOOD LUCK!!

  4. That awkward moment when people just wont take their time to give the right answer to a question(s).

She didnt ask how long did it take for your bio to arrive? she's asking what to expect in her own case

    So what's with the

    mine took 2.5 years

    Took us 11 hours

    13 seconds for me responses.

    ans in bold

or simply put it varies & thus It will depend on when your local ASC office can schedule you for an appointment

It sure looks like she's asking for the experience of others to inform the HOW LONG part?!! Yours seems to be the least useful of all responses here.

  5. Hi guys - newby here.

I got my receipt notices on Jan 28 but didn't receive a biometrics appointment notice for 6 weeks and it was yesterday. However, I received my Employment Auth / Advanced Parole card on Monday. That seems a bit strange?

Also, the security guard inside the local USCIS asked me if I was married, and when I said no he asked 'why' and then proceeded to ask me out. How rude!! haha.
