  1. While I appreciate you wanted a "speedy" answer, it is better than you search first otherwise the forums will be filled with repeated questions and answers. This is the standard for using the forums. I understand you might be a little new or didn't realise this is what you're *supposed* to do first so jut FYI :)

**Edit - this is why some topics start with "I did a search but couldn't find the answer..." because people don't like answering the same qn over and over again when a simple search would have yielded a result. This specific question is VERY common. Same with "Is there a fee for filing EAD and AP?". Though I suppose if you're not on the forums a lot you wouldn't realise this... do a quick search and you've done your "due diligence".

As I've already stated several times(I know what I'm *supposed* to do), I DID search for the answer... and it wasn't a QUICK search! I have a job and a family, and do not have hours to sit and look for something because someone doesn't like answering a question. After over 30 minutes(on this site-plus more on the general internet), I believe my "due diligence", as you say, was done! Thank you

Beginning sentence to my OP: "Ok, I've tried to find an answer to this but have not been able to find one."

  2. There are many many posts about this. Put "unknown" for date and length of trip. Don't include an attachment explaining why you're eligible, because you're eligible based on AOS.

While I'm sure there are many posts about this specific answer in the thousands and thousands of posts, I found it a lot easier to ask than spend hours looking for that one specific post that has my answer. I searched many topics & sites before I asked!! Thank you for the answer... It appears that it wasn't that hard to answer, and possibly it will help someone else who happens to be looking for this specific answer right at the moment. If you're not picking up on the sarcasm, my point is: "there are many posts about this" was an unnecessary addition to your answer. Once again, I greatly appreciate your helping me with my paperwork.

good.gif This is what we did and were just fine!

Sirdaniel, thank you so much!!! I looked at the example form & even that had a date on it, & when I went to the government website it made it seem like it could only be done for emergencies, however on here I saw that everyone did it with their AOS. I'm glad to have it straightened out!!

  3. Ok, I've tried to find an answer to this but have not been able to find one. We're filling out the AOS along with the EAD & AP forms & are stuck on the AP form. On the form it asks for specific travel dates... What if we don't have any specifics? What if it's just to have the AP form to be able to travel to his home country? I was under the impression that this type of travel was ok, but some things I've been reading makes it seem like it's only for emergencies. Please advise so I can finish up the paperwork & send it in! Thanks so much everyone for all of your help!!

  4. Your answers were rude & not helpful at all!

I sent my paperwork in March 2012, through the CSC (where it goes depends on where you live, you have no control over that)... He received the visa in October, & we are getting married in December. My other VJ friends who had interviews on the same day had their paperwork routed through the VSC, & their timeline was a month or more longer than mine. That is a huge gamble to take, and one that's not recommended. It's a little harder planning a wedding in a short amount of time, but it's well worth it, & I can't wait!! Good luck during your process!!

Hi everyone. I just recently joined VJ and really appreciate all the help and knowledge that is provided on this site. I was hoping someone of you could give me some ideas about my situation. I am a naturalized US citizen who is trying to get my fiancée from Canada over here. I have submitted my I-129F packet to USCIS and just got notified it has been sent to VSC (which I'm not thrilled about, hearing their processing times).

Overall figure 9 months....so from this month, November, 2012, best bet would be July, 2013 to August, 2013.

Here is the problem: We have plans to get married August 24, 2013. Do you guys think it is even possible given the time constraints to get her K-1 visa and arrive in time or do you think we should just try to move the wedding to 2014?

Please keep in mind that we have made deposits already for the venue, photographer, caterer, and DJ.

No you keep in mind that you made all these deposits and may have to resked or cancel if you don't get the visa in time. It's you gamble alone.

I really just want to marry her as soon as possible so we can start our lives together but we're both losing sleep wondering if her K-1 visa will arrive in time. Any advice or suggestions are helpful!

Stop worrying or cancel all now.

  5. Love your beautifully put answer!!! It actually brought some of my insecurities to light, and made me feel better. I'm soooo worried about my fiance, & what will happen when he gets here. Will he be miserable after leaving everything & everyone he knows just to be with me? Will he be able to adjust to the weather (gets to 30 below zero here sometimes, & never below 55 there)? Will he hate me after living with me? Will he hate the US lifestyle?.... Many questions. In the end, I am just trusting God & having faith that after knowing each other for 7 years, we are meant to be together, and everything will work out as God has planned. I know that it's not a ploy to get to the US for him (he backed out once before because of his fears of leaving his family etc), but that's not what I'm worried about. Once again, thank you for your answer!

Actually, It sounds like a legitimate question and not a pre-cursor to any feelings being felt in advance of a fiancee coming over.

Sort of like the cold feet syndrome many go thru in marriage, their is that sliver of doubt that passes through ones mind. I'm sure whether we admit it or not publicly or privately, most if not all of us have thought the question

of what would be the repercussions should this be a well orchestrated ploy such as what others have unknowingly fallen into.

With the same thoughts in mind though, we also have to step backwards and look towards the "other side of the fence" and that is of the person coming here. For those already living stateside... Change places for a moment... Imagine having to uproot from everything familiar to you, say goodbye to friends and family, and going to a place where your unfamiliar, with your life packed into suitcases only, and hoping that those words that stoked the mind with dreams of a better life with someone you fell deeply in love with might easily be shattered by realizing (in after thought) that the person whom sponsored you, misrepresented himself.

This can be a two way street, so obviously their should be avenues to follow which allow safe passage and that continued plan for a better life.

The chats, the emails, the visits, the emotions, the "everything" about relationships and one that can continue thru thick and thin weight heavily on both those here and those there.

I dont think I have seen 'thread resources" out here that represent a type of "flow charted" answers to the different scenarios to which it may come to be.

I personally dont think their should be one either as it can open up a Pandora's box which allow others predefined answers on how and what to do / say to get their way

For all of us, were just hoping that it works out. We pray we make the right choice in our partner, and we have faith in one another thru the words, and acts already exhibited in the relationship prior to making this final

    commitment.

I guess their is no real single answer or booklet for this... it's all so non-linear, just like life is :)

Sorry if i got so psychological on the answer, and for you to have read this to see i didnt give an answer to your question..

For all of us ready , and want to commit , we "dance the dance" and take the chance its the right choice

    ed

  6. Thank you, I was actually wondering about this... can I still claim him when he's not a US citizen? My fiance is scheduled to come on November 15th... yikes, that doesn't give a lot of time to plan a wedding!! Although, justice of the peace could work and then a bigger one later? :)

  7. I called the Embassy on Tuesday and said that the packet had not come & that I was told to call that day. They told me that they would have the packet available on Friday morning 7am at a certain window. I'm not sure how early they will do that for you, though. After my fiance picks up his paperwork, he will go directly to the medical exam to make sure he has it done in time. There are three of us that I know that have interviews on the 3rd & were told that the packet was sent out on the 22nd, and none of us received a packet... I wonder if they really even send them? What are the chances that every single person has their packet lost? They should just change the policy to have people pick up their packets on a certain day, and be done with it! The wait is frustrating... Well, the wait for all of it is.. but especially when it's getting so close! Good luck :)

  8. You cannot do the medical until you get the packet of paperwork in the mail. Good luck getting it 21 days before, since the mail there is horrible :(. Me & two others who have interviews on the 3rd of October (packet was sent out August 22nd) still have not received the packets in the mail. Phone calls have been placed to the embassy & the post office with no luck on either. So, unfortunately, the medical will be done whenever the papers finally arrived. They suggest a week before, but the embassy site says at least 3 days before. Congrats on getting your date!!! Isn't it exciting!!!???

  9. bookingbuddy.com let's you put in your info & search all of the different sites to find the cheapest price. It usually will give you prices from kayak, travelocity, hotwire, etc..... That's what I always use, however, I almost always end up getting my tickets from orbitz LOL I fly out of MI, too, but from the UP & it's usually a little more expensive.

  10. My fiance called the embassy on Friday, I believe, and they told him that if he still hadn't received the packet 15 days before the interview to call them back. In the mean time we have made sure that we have all of the paperwork done and everything that we need besides the medical exam. It recommends that it be done at least 5 days before the interview. Darn mail!!! Just wish it didn't take so long!!

  11. GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND!!!! YOU KNOW YOU CAN ASK ME AS WELL... DONE READ SO MUCH HERE THAT I THINK IM BECOMING AN EXPERT LOL.

Thank you!! I know what you mean about the research!! I feel like I can never find enough but there's always more! I'm sooo nervous! I was hoping that our interviews would be the same day, but I see that you haven't gotten yours yet :( I hope you find out soon! Sorry it took me so long to reply, I didn't realize that there were responses on here!

  12. Congrats on your approval. Read the information in link in my signature. It will help. If you have any questions just ask.

Thank you! I didn't realize that there were answers to my post! LOL I thought that I would be notified if there were, but I guess not! So now I'm just reading them :)

  13. When I called the embassy they told me when the interview date was (October 3rd) and that the packet was sent to my fiance on August 22nd. They said it should take 1-2 weeks to get to him because of where he lives. It's been two weeks now, and the packet has still not arrived. Should I call the embassy again?? Or still wait? I know it has all of the instructions for him on what to do next, and about the medical exam etc. I don't want to wait too long because I want to make sure we have everything done when it needs to be done. Please advise! Thanks

  14. "On July 30, 2012, we mailed you a denial decision notice for this case I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). The notice explains why the denial decision was made and the options that may be available to you. If you have not received this notice within 15 days of July 30, 2012, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance."

It sounds to me like they denied it because you didn't have the right paperwork, but it also states, "and the options that may be available to you". Maybe those options are to turn in the rest of the paperwork? I would just wait until you get the letter and see what it says, because it may just be that you need to send in more stuff. It should be there soon! Hang in there, it's stressful but worth it! :)

  15. Hello everyone, this whole situation has me so stressed out that my stomach is in knots. I know it's all in God's hands, but I'm so scared of a denial. I have been waiting for him for so many years, and I can't imagine my life without him!! NOA2 was on July 30th, and now I will start getting papers together and getting ready for the big day! Wish me luck!!!
