  1. Hi, my wife lost her green card about 3 months ago. I thought, hey instead of paying the 500 to replace, let's just do citizenship. Well after reading the instructions, there is a requirement to send a picture of the front and back of the green card, or a copy of receipt of the I90. I have a picture of the front of the green card not the back I took before loosing it. Does this mean I'll have to file for a replacement card and pay that fee as well? I will also note we came across the border around November and that's when we realized it was lost. USCIS at the border supposedly filed it for us but we never received a thing.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  2. Hi guys. I would really appreciate it if i could get some guidance. We are getting my grandparents packet together for their interview in juarez mexico in a week. I hear something about biometrics right before the interview? Where do they go about doing that? I thought all they had to do was the medical exam and go to their interview with the documents. Any help from any one, specially if you have gone recently to this consulate would be appreciated. Interview is next monday.

  3. Again thank you all for your replies, i really appreciate it. We are considering using Mexican private hospitals but are a but are a bit worried because a private hospital (star medica) is who got us in this spot in the first place. This is all post surgery issues. We paid for the full procedure and they wont and will not help us as they state they did their part. I will reach out to you in hopes we can find a good hospital. I will fly her out there if thats the solution. I will go bankrupt before i let her loose her foot for not getting the care she needs. thanks again everyone, i have a good idea as to what i will do as far as immigration goes.

  4. Ill double check on the insurance to be surd thank you for the heads up. I guess the option would be "obama care"if all else fails. I didnt consider medicaid at all. Just trying to find the best way to get her the care she needs. Would she be denied a green card because of her pre existing condition? Ill be able to co sponsor in case my mothers income isnt enough. Im still trying to determine if this process would even benefit the situation, and also if there is a way to expedite. Thanks again for your responses and insight.

  5. Hi guys. I am in dire need of advice. My grandmother in Mexico had surgery about 10 months ago and her wound wont heal. We brought her over on a tourist visa to visit a doctor and we have been told she needs treatment asap. the problem is that without insurance its costing us a fortune and we just cant afford it. My mom is a us citizen and wants to help my grandparents immigrate. The problem is time isnt on our side as the longer we take the bigger chance they might have to amputate her foot and we can wait the 6 months for the i130 and interview at consulate. What can we do that will be quicker so we can get my grandmother the medical care she needs? Anyhelp would be appreciated. Thank you.

  6. Thank you for the reply. Ive tried register but i cannot do it. It seems to be like when i use the mexican passport info, my mother in laws name comes up and doesnt allow me to register my wife. I think this is due to the fact that my wife obtained a tourist visa a couple of years back. I will try the link again to see if i can schedule the biometrics and where the visa will be delivered to. I really thought that the biometrics where taken the day of the interview. What im worried about is that my wife had a traveler visa and recieved traveling permits regularly but never overstayed. I read tho that this might cause us to have to get a waiver? is this true? Any info would be appreciate it... I want to me make sure everything goes as planned and there arent any problems... really need my wife.

  7. Hi guys! I have a few questions and i would rgeatly appreciate any info. So first, my wife's interview is already scheduled and i want to make sure i am ready with everything. First, my wife already has a tourist visa i believe it is b1 or b2 which permits her to visit the U.S. and also through permit travel. Is this going to be an issue at all at the interview? does it require some kind of waiver? Next question is, i have an idea of what to bring to the interview based on the appointment sheet but do i have to schedule anything at the consulate? Other then the medical? I hear alot of talk about designating a DHL office to have the visa delivered too but i dont know how... or if it is even required..What is recieved at the DHL office after approval?.Im assuming that we will bring Mexican passport, marriage certificate, Border crossing Visa, AOS package with proof, evidence, birth certificate, completed medical exam. Also am I allowed to go to the interview with my wife? Thank you in advance for any info!

  8. Found the correct post! Ok so i got case complete last week but only recieved interview date and interview date today., interview scheduled for june 23. I do have a few concerns, It looks like i have to arrange for biometrics appointment and also the medical. Now is there any other fee's other then the medical at this point? and i am having alot of issues creating an account at the https://usvisa-info.com/en-MX/selfservice/ss_country_welcome which does not allow me to register. It states that my wife is not the principal applicant and my mother in laws name comes out. Im assuming the website is relating this to the b1 visa they obtained only a year ago before we even thought about getting married. I heard there is a number you can call, any ideas?

  9. I called NVC last week and we got a case complete! Barelly recieved the email today and also an email later on the day for an interview date at the end of June. I was hoping for a date that would be sooner but thank god it is almost all over. I know there is another thread for the interview as i did have soe concerns. Can any one post a link to it? I also wanted to thank you Saylin. I wouldnt of been able to get through this process without your help. Thank you for your time and dedication to help others!

  10. Thank you! And Saylin, where could I find info on the IV package? I'm assuming I can send the supporting docs via email once I get the electronic opt in?. As always, thank you for all the help.

The DS-260 is an online version of the DS-230. You'll have to complete the D-260 and then send in the supporting documents for the IV package (passport photos, scan of bio-data page of passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, police certificate, etc). Basically, everything in the IV package except the DS-230/DS-260.

For the school question, she hasn't graduated, so I would say no in that box.

The second one you can probably say yes to. Then just explain she's currently in school for nursing, and that she'd like to get certified upon entering into the US as she won't have enough time to get certified in Mexico before leaving.

  11. Hi Saylin!

Thanks for the info i really appreciate all the help. I really couldnt do it without you. I got the IV invoice and paid... shows paid already which gave the availability to fill out the Ds-260. Im assuming the ds-260 is the online version of the IV package? so once i finish this up all i need to do is wait to get the successful opt in of electronic filing and send the AOS.... and hopefully i dont get some type of checklist for either IV or the AOS, is that correct? Now im almost done filling out the ds-260, but two questions are a bit confusing in our case. My wife is a student In Juarez for Nursing and is almost done with her degree, all she needs to do is an internship (Which in Mexico means sending her to a little town in the middle of no where for a year with pay of about 10-15 dollars biweekly LOL) to finish her degree. Eventually, if god permits and we get through this whole journey and obtain her green card she will try and revalidate her schooling in the U.S. or finish her title and get certified to practice in the U.S. Given this information, Saylin, what do you think we should answer to these questions?

-Are you a graduate of a foreign medical school seeking to perform medical services in the United States but have not yet passed the National Board of Medical Examiners examination or its equivalent?

-Yes (Box appears asking for an explanation)

    -No

-Are you a health care worker seeking to perform such work in the United States but have not yet received certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools or from an equivalent approved independent credentialing organization?

-Yes (Box appears asking for an explanation)

    -No

  12. Hey Saylin!

SO it took like 9 days to get a human reply that i made a mistake which by what i read is normal. I got the IV package Invoice today so the Ds-261 went through finally. I paid the IV package fee as well. Im going to wait until i get the response back from the electronic filling as that will give me time to get everything together for the AOS package. Now, i read about electronic file but still had some questions. Once i get the email from electronic filling, will it include the instructions on how to send the AOS in? The way i understand it will work is i will fill out the forms, sign them, and scan email to the email address they provide? So fill out the PDF's print them sign them and scan and email is the process im understanding so far.

  13. Thanks Saylin. We got the ds-261 filled out and completed on the website and i followed the electronic opt in process as advised. Everything seems to be good now, just confusing on what to fill out and what not to. All i do now is wait for the AOS to show paid and send the packet with the receipt and cover letter i got from the payment site? After that or while this is happening Pay the IV package fee's and wait to recieve the packet, once it is recieved fill out and send back... wait for the case to be complete and eventually get an appointment date in Juarez...? Oh and Does the council in Juarez have a list i can see now on who is authorized for the medical examination? Thanks!

Yup, you ONLY fill out the DS-261. Ignore the DS-3032 as you do not fill that out in your case. The same applies to the DS-230/DS-260. You fill out the DS-260 online and ignore the paper DS-230.

Yes, the optin is the same. I have a sample email format in the wiki.

    Congrats! kicking.gif

  14. Thanks so much for the reply. So no need to fill out the form I got in the email.? Just the 261? For the opt in follow the same instructions as for Canada?

For Mexico, you're required to do online forms. Do NOT send the DS-3032. You have til fill out the DS-261 online.

And send the optin email asap! You should have done that as soon as you got a case number. Go go go.

Like Darnell suggested, you may want to read my wiki on EP and online forms as the process is almost identical to Canada's process.

Once the packages are accepted, then the case is closed either at the end of the review or within a few days. So, you can very well have a case complete by the end of next week yes.gif

Whether her income is $0 or not, tax information is still required. If she hasn't filed taxed due to not meeting the threshold, then she'll need to submit a letter explaining why she hasn't filed taxed last year (2011).

What about 2012? Did she earn enough money to file taxes this year?

Keep in mind, to qualify with assets, you need three times the amount of the poverty line for your household size.
