Hi,
I'm US citizen, sponsored for my wife in VN and she arrived USA last November and currently holding a 10-yr Green Card.
We're expecting our first baby and my wife has only her mother in Vietnam (her dad passed away a few years ago).
We wish to have her mother here to help us during this time, say 6-month visit.
Please advise the "right way", steps by steps, to have her mother here in the USA for 6-month visit. Shoud my wife or I do the paperwork for faster processing?
Thank you very much.

Since she stayed in USA for only about one month (to get Green Card and SSN), can she ask for 1/2 of his financial assets or alimony if either she or he files for Divorce? thanks.
-
what if "she" files for Divorce in the Philippine and it is going to be finalized there (with or without the USA husband in the Philippine), could she still return to the USA? does the length of her stay in the Philippine may affect her return to the States? thanks

Hi,
Can a 10-yr Green Card holder (getting it via CR-1) sponsor for her mother if she is the only child in the family and her father just died due to sickness (so that only her mother is living alone in Thailand and she is now in the USA)?
Is there other way to help speeding the sponsoring process due to her situation?
Thanks.

My friend needs advice on his situation. He is US citizen, marrying a Philippino women and sponsored her to the USA via CR-1 to California.
After getting her 10-yr Green Card and Social Security Card, she went back to Philipine blaming on her mom getting serious sickness. But my friend just found out (via some of her relative words) that she actually had her true love man in the philipine and came back there to live with him (while still married to my friend in the USA).
Question is: if my friend filed for divorce in the Philippine (where they married) and granted, could she come back to the USA after that (since she already had 10-yr Green Card)?
Thanks.

Hi,
We married in the Philipine with the Philippino government(she is Philippino) and I sponsored my wife and she came here 4 weeks ago.
She received her Green Card and applied for Social Security card.
Now she asked "when would we registrate our marriage in the US?" she looked at other new friends and wanted the Marriage Certificate as registered in the US...
Please advise if we could do that..thanks.

Hi,
My wife came to USA from the Philipine 3 weeks ago (I'm US citizen sponsoring for my wife).
She just received her 10-year Green Card but HAVE NOT yet received her Social Security Card.
On the DS-230 Visa Application, she checked the box to apply for SSN and sent to home address (it was older address than current address).
1) was the Social Security card automatically sent to the older address as indicated on the DS-230?
2) Or does she have to go to the SOcial Security Administration office to apply for the Social Security Card?
Please advise. Thank you.

Hi,
A close friend asked me for help and I need your input. He is also a US citizen, sponsored his wife a Philippino woman, and she came here just a week ago with a IR-Visa. She was told she would receive her SSN in a week and Green Card within 2-3 weeks.
Her mother's sickness turned very bad and she wants to go back to Philippine to see her. What happens to her status if she leaves US for Philippine while not having SSN or Green Card in her hand yet? What if things turn bad and she has to stay in Philippine for a few months? How could she come back to the USA after that?
Please help. They need to know it ASAP to know what to do! Thanks.

Hi ScottThuy,
The reason I asked (to be completely sure) is my wife is not coming to USA until 2-3 months later, but I have to fill out a Secret Security Clearance for a new job contract work for the Department of Defense.
Therefore I have to be sure to check the box "Single" or "Married" on Marital Status section.
Please advise. Thanks.

hi ScottThuy,
We married in VN and then I filed I-130 for her...
So when she comes here, we're automatically married in the States? or do we have to register to get married to make it officially in the USA? thanks.
-
Hi ScottThuy,
You are correct and my wife is coming by end of month...
Question: Once she comes to USA, do we have to "register to get married" at the city where I live (or we're automatically married due to the approved case)?
Please advise what important steps/procedures we would have go through once she comes here.
Thanks.

hi ScottThuy,
Right after my wife turned in the updated health and justice record, she was asked to turn in her VN passport and pay for the visa processing, and passport would be returned within 2 weeks, etc... (that was what my wife told me but she could be wrong...).
Does it mean that her visa is approved and she just needed to wait about 2 weeks for it to be done?
Please advise. Thanks.

Hi ScotThuy,
My wife just received a letter from HCMC Consulate asking for most recent Justice Record (Ly Lich Tu Phap), health record, DS-230 along with new pictures...
Could you please advise what may be the coming process for our case?
Thanks.

ScottThuy,
My senator sent me the e-mail response from the HCMC Consular with the following:
*****************************************
The case file is still pending review by a consular officer. Unfortunately, we encounter a significant number of visa applicants who are involved in fraudulent relationships entered solely for the purpose of obtaining immigration benefits. This requires that all officers take time to fully consider all aspects and facts of a case, requiring at times more in-depth investigation to verify certain facts. Due to staffing and other resource limitations this often means long waiting periods for applicants.
We will notify Ms. Nguyen directly after our assessment is completed and a determination is made on her case.
I hope this information is useful in responding to the concerns of your constituent.
*****************************************
Look like our case may be one of the victim affected by the fraudulent...it is so much frustrated even though they've seen evidence of our pictures and daily Yahoo's video call, etc...
Hope our case would be considered soon as we suffer each day passes by...

ScottThuy,
I called DoS and was told "the case is still under administrative process...Recently there were two Senators requesting the status and was told the same response"...
I asked two Senators in my state to write letters requesting case update recently.
What other thing I could do? Please advise. thanks.
-
ScottThuy, what is DoS and what contact number? Thanks.

Hello everyone,
About 2 months ago, two Consular representatives (one American and one Vietnamese) went to my wife's residence to check for evidence (looking at pictures, receipt money was sent, daily Yahoo video calls, etc...) while calling me directly from my wife's cell phone (she has my number on her phone along with our many pictures) to verify my existence. They asked me similar questions they asked my wife to double check. At the end of that visit, my wife asked them how long she has to wait and was told by the Vietnamese representative that "it won't be long as the last time" (the last time my wife had interview was last July when she received the white slip for Additional Processing as was discussed in another topic). My wife then told me they were talking to each other about our evidence matched, etc...
It has been more than 2 months and we still haven't received any response regarding the case beside the general response (when we sent e-mail) such as "the case is still under additional processing....etc..). We've also had a Senator writing letter requesting the case update and also receiving the "general" response.
What should we do? Please advise. Thank you very much for your help.

Hi,
I'm US citizen sponsoring for my wife in Vietnam. My case is still in "AP - Additional Processing"
since last September. Many contacts with the Consulate came back with "your case is still pending....".
Recently my wife was diagnosed with "elevated level of white blood cell counts" where doctor said
she could have leukemia or liver problem if not treated. She has been under expensive treatment for more than 3 months
without much improvement due to available medicine and treatment in Vietnam.
I'm thinking about having her under treatment in the USA if possible, i.e. asking the Consulate to consider her case
and give her the visa.
1) should I do that? (pros: she could have visa approved and go to USA for treatment,
cons: the Consulate may delay her case further due to her illness
condition which may involve liver problem, etc...)
2) if I should do that, what the proper way to do it?
Please advise. Thanks

Hi,
I was her "Choice of Agent" contact. Does she still need to make the change of Address?
Thanks.

Hi,
1) My wife recently had her Dad passed away (only her Mom and her in the family now), and moved to a different address from the one on I-130 (she is in AP-Additional Processing due to white slip after interview last year). What should she do about the status change?
2) She is currently under 1-yr treatment for "elevated white blood cell count" which requires expensive shot every week for a year and she was told she could have leukemia if not treated (she can have the doctor letter about her condition), etc...Is there any way she or I could do to have the US Consulate speeding up on the AP process and issue her a visa?
Please advise. Thanks.

hi all,
I wrote to Congressman but so far no response...I contacted HCMC via e-mail about the status of the case and if I could setup an appointment with the CO, etc.. The replied e-mail said the case is still under review, and there is a time 4pm-5pm every Tues & Wed that a staff member could answer questions from US petitioners only (status of case, submit documents, etc..but no meeting or interview).
Is it a good idea to submit additional and new pictures or proofs to my case? Please advise. Thanks.
-
yes, i called that number and was told "the case is under processing".
And as of today, my wife in VN still haven't received any notice from the HCMC (since getting all the pics back on August 24).
What should I do? If I write to Congressman for help, what would be the content to convince him/her to help (otherwise they would just ignore the letter)?
Please advise. Thanks.

hi all, these are only the pictures we submitted when submitting Timeline, 10-yrs Residence, and Ex-Spouse (not anything or evidence submitted before the Interview). Anyone experienced similar situation? Thanks.
Visit to USA for Mother-in-Law?
in Vietnam
Posted
Someone has mentioned his friend did similar thing about 6 yrs ago when the wife was pregnant.
However, his USA-Citizen friend first wrote an Invitation to Visit and submitted to US Embassy in HCMC and copied the mother in VN. Then the US Embassy proceeded, contacted the mother for interview, etc..
Has the right procedure changed such that the US Citizen did not initiate the Invitation?
Please advise. thanks.
