  1. Hi there,

I'm new to Visajourney.com. Can somebody help me out or suggest me about my situation mentioned below.

Me (Indian National) and my wife (US Citizen) have filed immigrant visa application/petition (I-130) at New Delhi Embassy.

I have recently sent Packet 3 documents and the embassy already received them. I'm yet to receive the appointment letter/packet 4 from the embassy.

A few days back I visited the local passport office to apply for the Police Clearance Certificate as it's requirement was mentioned in the Packet 4 Info sheet.

There, the officer in charge found a minor damage in my passport on the last page and asked me to apply/reissue a new passport and only then they will provide me a police clearance certificate.

So, I'll manage to apply and receive a new passport and then the police clearance certificate before my interview at the embassy whenever it is scheduled.

As my visa process is at the last stage, i would really appreciate if someone clears my doubts mentioned below:

Will there be any problem if i get a new/reissued passport at this stage (before attending immigrant visa interview at the consulate) of my visa process.

Can someone please enlighten me about the procedure i should follow for this kind of situation like filling out a form or something.

    Thanks,

    Npk

No problem at all! I did exactly the same thing. In fact I had to change my name in the new passport -- since I had my maiden name in the old one --before I could apply for the Police clearance at the passport office. And this was just before P4. So, P4 had my married name on it.

Just make sure you write or call the NVC with the information about your new passport and send them/email them a copy of your new passport and your police clearance.

    Best of luck!

  2. They asked for records of the following: Varicell vaccine (if no previous chickenpox history), MMR and TDP/Tdap.

If we dont have any records of Vaccines we had earlier than do they inject us all three vaccines ???? Coz i had Chickenpox earlier in my childhood but i dont know whether i was given vaccine or not .....So in this case will they inject all vaccines if we dont hav any records of vaccines we had in our childhood. I dont have any of the records of vaccines i had during my childhood>>>

You can discuss your medical history with the doctor at the consultation. Since you have had chickenpox there is a good chance they won't give you the Varicella vaccine because you may already be immune to the disease. However, the MMR and TDP/Tdap could be administered again if you do not have a record. But of course, you should discuss all this with the doctor. He/she would be able to recommend what's best for you. And don't worry, lots of people who don't have records get booster shots.

  3. Medical at Max Medcenter, New Delhi

Just wanted to share my medical experience...hope this helps some people...So here's what happened:

I took an appointment for 10am on June 1st and got there on time. The immigration medical registration room was in the basement. Was handed a small form that I had to fill in and submit.

Then I waited for half an hour before I was called and they collected my passport, copy of my passport, 3 passport photographs and appointment/interview letter - P4.

I, then, waited again for another 15 minutes and they called me to collect the fees. It was INR 2245 for blood tests, x-ray and consultation. They told me that I will pay fees for the vaccinations after consulation with the doctor.

Then I went to the first floor where they collected my blood sample and was then given a shirt and pyjamas to wear. Right after I got my x-ray done.

I was then sent to the ground floor where I waited for a nurse to take my weight, height, blood pressure and heartrate.

She then took me for an eye exam. I was then asked to wait for an hour before I could see the doctor - waiting for the doctor was the most frustrating bit.

The doctor saw me after more than an hour and a half later and did a general physical exam. She then asked me questions about my health and medical history. Since my vaccinations were complete, I did not get any more shots but those who had to get them were taken to another room. They asked for records of the following: Varicell vaccine (if no previous chickenpox history), MMR and TDP/Tdap.

I then changed out of the pyjamas they had given me and went to the basement to submit all my papers including a few sheets that the doctor had filled. At the registration desk they gave me a receipt and asked me to come in again after 8 days (3 to 5pm) to collect my report.

So that's that. It was an, well, almost smooth process.

Total time taken: Between 3 to 4 hours

    All the best everyone!

  4. You need to have records. If not, you're just gonna have to go ahead with the shots one more time. I'd had my TDAP shot just a month prior, but sadly forgot to pick up a record of it, so had to get it again. As for reactions/side effects, none whatsoever. TDAP is usually given around your butt/hip area as it's an intramuscular injection. MMR, varicella, etc, are given on your upper arm.

This is really helpful! Thanks, Divs!

  5. Thank you so much!!

Just another quick question: I've had my MMR and TDP when I was 16. But I don't believe I have the record. Do you think the doctor would be willing to discuss this before giving the shots to me? Have you and anyone had any reactions or side effects from these vaccines?

  6. Hi! I am about to go for my medical in New Delhi. There are a few things that I wanted to know more about so I can go prepared. I would appreciate any help at all!

    1. My visa interview is next month, i.e. June 2012, and I wanted to know how much in advance should I have my medical appointment scheduled?

    2. How long do they take to give us the results?

    3. If any of you have had your medical done, are the vaccines safe? Is it alright if they give a bunch of them together, as they probably will?

    4. I had my varicella vaccine done today -just the first dose- at my local clinic. Will it be a problem getting the other vaccines now? (I believe someone who has gone through something similar can possibly answer this)

    5. Do they run a tuberculosis skin test as well?

    Thank you in advance.

    Best Regards.

    My stupid RFE was:

    Passport Police Clearance

    What I learned:

I am from New Delhi, India. Wanted to let people applying from here know that the US embassy in New Delhi require you to get two police certificates if you are an Indian citizen, residing here and your passport was issued more than 6 months before your application. Please note that one police clearance is required from your local Passport office and one from your district police (SSP's office).
