  1. Most consulates if not all will automatically renew the petition. Mine ran out Dec 22/11. I emailed the consulate here in Canada because like you I hadn't gotten an interview date at that point. They emailed back within a couple days saying they automatically renew petitions with no action on your part. You should be fine but you could find out how to contact your consulate and ask them directly just to make sure.

  2. I actually called a county office today with pretty much the same question. As others have said, the person on the phone told me you need to both be present to obtain the license and you can bring a passport showing your visa instead of a SSN. You should call the office in the county you'll be married in just to double check though.

  3. Ok so my interview is next week in Montreal. I know you need proof that you've signed up for DHL delivery.

The only place I see this written is in my appointment confirmation email it says simply ''DHL location:Kingston, ON' is that what they are looking for or is there some other separate confirmation form that I'm missing? Thanks!

  4. I also received my letter by email and was told I would NOT get one by regular post mail. Make sure you bring the entire letter not just the first page though as I've read that they check to make sure you have the DHL location picked out which is shown I think on the third page.

  5. yes there are two embassies that handle K1 interviews. There is one in Vancouver I think and the other is in Montreal. I got stuck with Montreal which is apparently the slower of the two (makes sense since it's closer to most of the population of Canada than the other location). Either way, the time delay was in part him, in part me and in part the consulate.

I just wanted to let people know about my experience with a company that targets people just like the ones on this site, so that hopefully they can make the best choice when it comes to hiring someone to help them.

Thanks for everyone's sympathy! In one week from now I will already be on the train home from Montreal, and hopefully in two weeks from today I will be packing my bags and heading to the airport!

  6. i wasn't there illegally, i was going back and forth. i just did it a lot. it turns out it likely will not be a problem.

the reason it has taken to long is because i never got the first instruction packet from the consulate. I assumed that it was just taking a long time since the guy who was supposed to be helping never said anything to me about it. Turns out it had supposedly been sent out in Sept. I stupidly waited until December to inquire about this. I just kind of thought, hey I paid this guy a lot of money to help me, he said he'd be there every step of the way so I guess it's normal for it to take this long. Since then I have been doing everything I can to make sure things are getting done in a timely matter.

  7. Thanks ;) Now that it's all over, it's kind of whatever, but I hope other people won't have to go through that kind of headache!

I actually heard about VJ through a guy at my medical exam! I'm so glad he told me! And if he's reading this : Thanks dude! If you were at the medical in Toronto on March 12, I'm sure you know who you are! I didn't catch your name but I owe ya one! Good luck on your interview and have fun in Virginia once ya do get there!

  8. hah sorry i just did a search to see if anyone else had such an awful time with them. I also wanted to post so that if others did a search and saw these threads they'd get the info. I'm just so amazed with how bad the service is and I don't want others to get suckered into hiring them. Sorry for the old thread bumps guys! I made a new thread in another section reviewing their service.

  9. Ok folks. I hope this is the right section of the forum for this.

I wanted to post a warning to people like me, so they don't get suckered like I did.

I was denied entry at the border after being in the USA with my man for almost 4 years. Needless to say , we started freaking out. I wanted to get home (to usa) asap, obviously. We had no idea how to get this done so I did some research and found out I needed to apply for a K1 fiancé visa. Ok cool. Easy enough. We decided since we knew nothing about visas to hire some help. Big mistake! Google suggested to us a website called EzVisa. It looked like a dream come true, with guarantees of being in the USA in only 6 months with no hassle. Wow I never thought it would be so easy! Guess what, it wasn't.

So we hire the EzVisa company, which is in fact only one guy. His name is Lester. He began his company after going through a K visa process himself with his foreign wife. I thought that was good, he'd be understanding of our situation. He wasn't.

He has us fill out basic forms which he then used to fill out the visa forms. I thought everything was fine until I noticed he has made mistakes on our forms. Basically there was information that I have no idea where he got. Stuff that was totally false. Good thing I noticed before they were sent away. When I mentioned this to him, he had no apologies for his mistake.

He told my fiancé that I could be back in the USA in as little as 6 months. It's been 14 and I'm still in Canada. Once again he's never said anything about it taking to much longer. Basically, he lied to us about the 6 months. As you all know it takes much longer.

A number of times when emailing or calling him his reply was "I don't know who you are". I understand someone has a lot of clients and many people have similar names. I cannot understand having to explain in detail who I am every single time I talk to him though. Seems like he should be able to remember from one day to the very next who I am and what we were discussing. Maybe he needs to hire a secretary. Anyways.

As far as being told I could return in as little as 6 months, well that was a total joke. It's now been 14. My interview is next week. In total this will have taken about 15 months from when I arrived in Canada. About 13 since filing my initial paperwork.

There was a postal strike here in Canada while I was waiting for my packet from the Montreal Consulate telling me what to do next. That packet never showed up. I emailed EzVisa to ask what to do, he told me go on the consulate website and book your interview, you'll be fine. This sounded suspicious to me, I was right. I contacted the consulate through email, they forwarded the packet to me which stated that I DO NOT book an interview at this time, I was to send in some paperwork first. I didn't have an MTL number at the point so I wouldn't have even been able to book an interview on the website.

I finally got my packet 3 taken care of and booked my interview. Got my medical exam booked and it is now done. I thought ok thank god I'm finally almost done with this. Then I found out about being possibly banned from entry to the USA due to my travel history. I started to freak the #### out! I emailed the EzVisa guy with my concerns. I know for a fact that my fiancé explained my situation to him when we hired him. In his reply to my email he claims to have known nothing about my situation. He also berated me like a child for believing something I read online and asked rudely if "the person who told you this has been doing this type of work for 20 years, like I have". He basically said I was an idiot for being worried about stuff and that I need to stop. Gee I thought being worried about the future of my life and family was normal, guess not! All I can do is wonder how someone who's been paid, and paid well, to answer my questions is now being so rude when I ask one. He claims to have no knowledge of people being denied due to travel history or being in the USA when they shouldn't have. I know for a fact that this does happen. There's even a waiver you have to fill out to get the problem solved.

Anyways, my point is this: Don't use the company EzVisa unless you want to add more stress to an already stressful time in your life. If you need help filling out paperwork, use this website instead. Or email your consulate directly. Hiring an immigration consultant is a waste of time and money. I honestly feel like things would have gone smoother and in a more timely manner if I'd done them myself.

  10. Just wanted to add this in case it helps anyone.

I basically got ripped off by an 'immigration consultant'. They took my money and said they'd take care of everything.

    HA!

My initial package was sent to the wrong filing location, by the consultant. There's a two month delay.

Some information on my forms was filled out wrong, by them. Totally their fault. If I wasn't so worried and triple and 5 times checking everything it would have went out with false info. They did not apologize for this.

Emails from them have been in very rude tones. Basically calling me an idiot for asking some of the questions.

They said I'd be back in the USA in 6 months. That was 14 months ago.

Anyways, please, unless you have a problem with the english language and can not find a good translator, do everything yourself!!! It will save you a lot of money and hardship.

  11. I know this topic is old but I wanted to give my two cents to anyone who's in the same boat.

    DO NOT USE EZVISA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The guy who owns the company and is the contact is a total jerk. He filled out information on my forms wrong. He's been very unfriendly to me in emails more than once. Basically he took my money and then acted like a total ####### for the rest of the time. He even sent me package to the wrong filing location which delayed us by about 2 months.

Like others have said he told me I'd be back in the USA in 6 months. 14 months later and I'm still not home.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!! Wouldn't have even been worth it if it was free!!!

  12. Thanks guys! You've been so much more helpful than the ####### I paid to help with this process. He basically called me an idiot and was shocked that I would believe anything I read online. Even though I read it on government websites. Anyways. I'm going to be honest if questioned about my travel history and hope for the best. I have to go to the interview alone but I feel a little better knowing you guys are all in it with me ;) I wish I'd found this website a year and half ago!

  13. I never stayed longer than 6 months at one time. I just didn't know then that you aren't supposed to do it more than once a year I guess. You know how it is waiting for your interview, thinking of everything that could go wrong ;)

I'm holding onto the fact the customs officer specifically told me he was not putting a ban on my passport, just a one time entry denial, until I could provide proof that I wasn't trying to illegally immigrate.

    Thanks for the reply

  14. So here's the deal...

I met my fiancé a little over 5 years ago here in Canada where I live. We began talking on the phone and whatever. I went to visit him in the USA for a week or so. Went back a few months later for another week or so, did this I dunno maybe 3-4 times. We decided it would be nice to spend more than a week together so I quit my job and went to the USA for 6 months as a visitor without a visa. After the first 6 months I went home for a week and (unknowing it wasn't allowed) returned for another 6 months, went home for a week, came back for 6 months, went home for a week, back for 6 months. Anyways I did that for almost 4 years. I was not working and was never questioned at the border about this and was never told I wasn't allowed to do this. So a little over a year ago I came home for a few weeks and when I tried to go back the customs officer informed me I hadn't be following the rules and that he didn't think it was a good idea to let me back into the USA. He told me he was not banning me from entering the USA, but only denying my entry for that day. I was free to request entry after that whenever I wanted. He suggested that I needed to either show proof of my ties to Canada by providing work information or a lease or something like that. He also said we (my boyfriend and I) think about getting married.

Fast forward a year, we are now engaged and my K1 interview is next week (march 22). I just found out today from reading this forum that apparently if you were in the USA for longer than you should have been your visa is automatically denied because you would have been banned from the USA whenever the last time you went over the border was. I'm really freaking out about this because if I do fall under that category I will be facing a ten year ban.

Anyways anyone been in the situation? Any advice? Thanks!
