  1. Congrats to all those who have passed interviews in the past few days!

I am happy to say that all went well and we were approved as well :)

The interview was less than 5 minutes! They didn't ask for any additional evidence.

The questions the consul asked were:

    - How did you meet? (We meet in Brazil when I (the USC) was living abroad)

    - Why do you want to go the US? (My husband told them that his wife was accepted for a Masters program)

    - Had you been to the US before you meet your wife? (No. The first time was last year for vacation after we had already been married)

Then she said, "Ok, I'm going to approve your visa."

  2. They gave me 5 shots on my medical.... What u do, not to get nervous? I can't stop being

Well, since the interview is pretty much to prove that we are a legitimate couple, in my head all we have to do is be us. I don´t know, I think we are a pretty average couple: young, college eduacated, both have professional jobs in Brazil, been married for two years. I think, what can they say that would make us not seem like a real couple? I guess I just have confidence that they won´t find anything wrong (nor do they have any reason to find). Just sending out the positive vibes and hoping they come back :)

  3. Got mine at 1:00 am this morning

    yay!

Hey guys, how do I handle the medical .. do I just call and tell them I have an interview or do I wait for something from the embassy? By the way just checked, my case arrived in Moscow an hour ago!!! YES! :)

Did you get the e-mail from NVC yet?

I think you can go ahead and schedule an interview if you´ve gotten the e-mail

  4. Just got back from the US Embassy in Santiago. My wife and step-daughter's visas were approved!

I plan to submit a full review of the interview later, but the short version is that it was one of the easiest steps in the process and took just under an hour.

I told them we have our flights booked for next Tuesday and they said they should have the visas ready to be picked up Wednesday or Thursday of this week!

Good luck to those that have interviews coming up!

Visa Approved!!! It is just pending medical results which the London embassy seem to have miss-placed, hoping it'll all be sorted by end of week though as the medical centre are also sending another copy of them to the embassy.

    Thanks Erica

Thanks to everyone on here, Visa Journey has been so much help through this process.

Congrats to everyone who has been approved and good luck to everyone who has interviews coming up!

CONGRATULATIONS to the both of you!

  5. PLZ I WANT TO ASK QUETION AND I HOPE SOMEONE TO HELP ME

I HAVE INTERVIEW IN 4 JUNE FOR CR1 VISA SO I WANT TO ASK IF CAN I CHANGE IT TO IR1 VISA IN THE CONSOLATE CUZ IN THAT DAY IT WILL BE THE FOURTH DAY AFTER MY SECOND ANIVERSARY OF BEING MARRIED

From what I understand, that is determined at the interview...for example, we have our 2 year anniversary May 29, and the interview on June 4. At the interview the consul will approve us for an IR visa. I have also seen posted in the forums that if your interview is before the 2 year anniversary, you can ask for IR status at POE (as long as POE is after 2 year anniversary).

  6. They sent me an email on Friday but I couldn't open it, so I called and they verified our interview date and they advised me that they would resend the email but I've yet to receive it, the rep told me alot of people were sent these types of emails so they're busy resenting the emails out, so maybe that's what cause the delay in you receiving the email

    good to know, thank you!!

  7. Just spoke to the NVC and verified all three cases are completed!!!! I am so excited!!!! The operator inform me that the interviews are normally scheduled the first two weeks of the month. She also inform me that once the interview is scheduled then they send the cases to the embassy, is this true and when would my husband and kids have to have their medical done?

YAY    What a great feeling, right?!

Thanks!! One thing I have learned is lawyers do not speed up the process, my case was delayed over 3 weeks because they couldn't get the amount on my 2011 tax form to match with the amount they put on line 25 , all I kept thinking is all the money that I spent I could have saved just by reading the info on this site

    Thank you

I think you are spot on with that comment. If you are a "normal" case like Saylin mentioned, there is no need for a lawyer. All you need is VJ and some patience :)

    Hi all,

I and my husband would like an interview date so badly!

I called NVC last night and was told that they are finished scheduling for the month of May, and will be recommencing in the 2nd week in May for the month of June!

    What nonsense is this???

    AW

Got the same thing yesterday...I sent an e-mail to the consulate last night asking if they only schedule interview dates during a certain week of the month and they replied this morning saying that they do CR-1 interviews all month long. So basically we are just waiting for NVC to open their little calendar and schedule us...how hard can that be ;)

  8. Just called NVC to see if an interview date has been assigned. Operator said that they are done scheduling and if by the third week of MAY I haven't heard anything to call back :( ughhhh

I am thinking of e-mailing the consulate to see if they fill up really fast with interviews or if there is only a specific week of the month they do interviews. We don't mind having the interview in June since we are hoping to move in July, but we do wanna plan a vacation in June and we can't buy our plane tickets until we get this date...

  9. Just spoke with Mac at the NVC. He informed me that our expedite request was approved today and that both cases have been sent to the Embassy in Santiago! I submitted the expedite request via email Monday evening, then received a reply on Tuesday morning that they had received my expedite request and today it was approved.

The finish line is starting to come into view. Hopefully the Santiago embassy will get our case and contact us to schedule the interview in a few days.

Thanks again to those that provided guidance on the expedite process.

Great news!!! You're so close the finish line

  10. Last night I decided to apply for an expedite based on NVC error. I just received a reply from the NVC that the request is under review. Knowing my luck the NVC will assign more interview dates today, but will skip our case because of the expedite request. Then our expedite request will be denied after a week or two and we will be stuck waiting until the second week of May.

I just want to know when the interview date will be so I can make the necessary travel arrangements and request time off from my employer.

    same here

  11. Just spoke to an operator at the NVC. As I expected no interview date has been assigned on our case yet. However, the operator did say that they have not completed the process of assigning interview dates for May, or at least they have not informed the operators of this. I asked if they normally do get informed and he told me that they do. So there is still hope for those that have recently received case closed who missed the boat for interviews last week.

    good news indeed :)

Hopefully they´ll let us know soon. Do you think it´s alright to go ahead and do the medical exam without having gotten the date? Or better to wait?

  12. You've only had case complete since Friday. Have you looked at timelines for others from your country to see how long it has been from case complete to interview notification.

I know, only one day, yet feels like a while lol. I am not expecting any news for at least a few weeks considering other VJer´s experiences in the past couple weeks. Unfortunately, other folks from my country don´t update timelines that consistently, but the most recent interview date I could find was only 3 days after case closed (but it was also right at the beginning of the second week of the month). So, I am hoping for a date this week, but am realistic about the situation :)

  13. Who else has case complete with the NVC but does not have an interview date yet?

I know of Rujby, bahialove, sheeshkabelle, and I'm sure there are others.

If the NVC is truly done booking May interviews and you have to wait until next month to find out your interview date are you ok with that? What if there were still May interview slots at your embassy and the NVC still does not book you an interview?

I'm traveling today so I won't be able to call the NVC until later tonight, but I would like to find out if the operators are telling people in our situation that we will have to wait until next month to get an interview date.

I would definitely prefer to know sooner than later, especially because we are hoping to move up to the states in the beginning of July. Since my case closed on Friday, I will wait until tonight to call and see what the response is. I will be pretty bummed if I end up having to wait until the second week of May :(
