Marriage is a serious thing and u have to be certain. Entering it with uncertainty is always a bad sign. We cannot tell u what to do but you should think long and hard and if u are still thinking when her visa expires so be it. Just saying.

I'm sorry you had an unpleasant experience. I always feel badly when i hear people say this becuse i had such a great IO. He was pleasant, professional and funny. I wish i could tell you that everything will be ready in time for your trip. Now you also have to take into consideration that if you decide to go on vacation, you could be schefuled for your oath at that time. Hopefully eveything works out for you. It sucks when you do everything right and this happens. Let us know how it works out. Our fingers are crossed for you. Smile.
Correction: scheduled

When something is this important, you have to be persistent. Don't worry about annoying anyone. I would schedule another info pass and go back there so i could get this straightened out once and for all. Although "appointment" COULD mean "oath ceremony" it is too vague. You are not going to be relaxed until you know for sure. I am concerned about the wording "request to reshedule" when, as you said you did not. No need for you to be inconvenienced because an IO was a little confused that day. Just kidding. On Sunday I went to the pharmacy to get my husband's medication. The pharmacist gave me a dosage of 40mg when it should have een only 5mg. If i was not paying attention...well, let me just thank God that i was. I say all that to say this, it is you who is affected by the actions of USCIS, be as proactive as you possibly could be until you come to the end of this journey. All the best with everything. I truly feel your frustration.

Provided you have been here 5 years ofcourse. If you have only been here 3years, then that's all you have.
-
You have to show all trips for the past 5 years.
-
I disagree with the previous blogger. She is applying based on her 5 year residency so she does not need to submit her marriage certificate. This was my situation so I know.

Certificate of Citizenship is what you get at the oath, but it's pretty big and you cannot carry it with you all the time
I do not carry a passport card with me. Just saying "I am a US citizen" is enough. Well, just in case, I have a scanned version, a PDF, of my certificate on my smartphone.
I was NOT suggesting that he/she carry the CON on his person. I was simply giving an additional tip.

I am always amazed at how people find a way of making everything political. I read a blog posted by a gentleman who had dinner with some friends a few days ago, and one of them happened to be an IO who explained at length how short staffed they were and how many thousands of cases they had. The fact thst that this person got a reply from the White House during an election year has nothing to do with anything. The do answer letters; judst not every letter. Stop the nonsnse.

Why don't you just call the 800 number or go online and schedule an info pass? Everybody's situation is different. Something as important as this needs to be addressed directly. It may be that they over scheduled for that date but you won't know unless you speak with them. I wish you all the best.

Ten questions and there are no tricks involved. Once you answer 6 correctly, they do not ask anymore.

Sooo happy for you. Your journey is almost complete!

He has to turn in his GC at the oath ceremony. He will receive his certificate of citizenship which has his photo. Be sure to make copies of the certificate before you apply for his passport and/passcard because the original copy has to be submitted with the application.

No sweetheart. You are not approved for citizenship based on your ability to pay bills. It's a different story if you owe the Federal Governent and you are delinquent in your payment. I would suggest getting a payment arrangement before attending your interview. Other than that credit score and all that is irrrelavant. Just make sure to stay out of trouble and continue to obey the laws. Good luck with everything.

Had the same problem. DO NOT PRESS ANYTHING. Pretend that you are on a rotary phone and someone will pick up in about 30 seconds or so. I almost drove myself crazy trying to get through to someone until i did that. Good luck.
-
Aww! It's a roller coaster of emotions but once it's over, it's a wonderful feeling.
-
Well it would not do any good showing up without that letter. It is the final piece of the puzzle before you get the CON (Certificate of Naturalization). At the oath ceremony, you have to hand it over to the clerk before they give you the CON. They actually tell you that as well when you are there.
-
Like the previous blogger said - "unknown." I would also give the ssn. USCIS can find out anything they need with a ssn. Don't get stressed out over that. The most important thing is to be truthful at all times.
I wish you a speedy journey.

You DO NOT turn in your green card at the interview. Your green card is turned in at the Oath Ceremony.
-
That's pretty much it! Now just continue to obey the laws. Lol! Congratulations by the way.

I was not given my oath letter that day. The notice came in the mail a week later.
-
I can only answer about my situation. I interviewed the last day of February this year at Federal Plaza, had my oath ceremony at a different location (Cadman Plaza) three weeks later.
-
Hi - I would appreciate it if NYC filers that interviewed at Federal Plaza could help answer these questions:
- If you waited at Federal Plaza after the interview, how many hours did you have to wait for the oath letter after the interview?
- How many weeks apart were the interview and and the oath ceremony?
- Where did folks apply for same-day passport in NYC?
Thanks very much!
-
Do not press anything. Just remain on the line and the system would think you are calling from a rotary phone. It may take a few minutes but someone would then pick up. Good luck with everything.

I can't for the life of me get a real person, I tried just about every dang button and just keep hearing the recording say I'm sorry you pushed an invalid option and then it just repeats everything.
