  1. my wife has her interview. They give her 2 reasons for not passing the interview.

    1. Need previous passport

    2. Evidence for ongoing relationship over 4 years.

    some info.

She already changed her name and was issued a new passport from the Philippines. Her name on her new passport matched all names i put on her paperwork. The interviewer was baffled on how her name on her BIRTH CERTIFICATE is different after she married. ( ARE YOU KIDDING?)

we have been married for 4 years. The guy could not understand how I did not visit her.. Reason given was financial hardship on my part. we had some emails and chat logs ..and cards ..

    anyone else in this situation?

We have sent in her previous passport and screen shots of our GOOGLE HANGOUT VIDEO CHATS from the past 4 years ..and more cards ...and some Facebook messenger chats.

    hope this works out.

  2. you've made a good point!

the Hong Kong consulate is advising on their website - Please note that failure to apply for a police certificate at least 6 weeks before the scheduled interview date may result in a delay with processing the visa application.

So I'm concerned about the timing, the time from appointment letter to interview is not enough time for HK police to process.

I'm hoping to find means of getting a request form (of some sort from consulate hopefully). I am not looking to submit police check now, i will send request to HK police about 2 months prior (around April 2015), so my consulate will receive my certificate when my case is ready, the timing will be just right and I won't be put on AP due to missing police check.

As for the validity period, HK police said there's no expiration date, which mean it'll just be 1 year (as per US rule).

Also, I am contacting HK police now to see if the selection letter+checklist is sufficient for their processing.. [keeping my fingers crossed]

i emailed the hong kong police on 12/9/2014 here is their response on this issue

    Dear Sir/ Madam,

    Thank you for your email.

Please understand that a referral letter issued from relevant consulate or

government authority to support the purpose of application is our

fundamental requirement. Without that letter, we cannot process any

applications. Therefore, please provide with us a letter from government

authorities stating the production of the Certificate is required and the

reason. The letter should contain the applicant's full name and preferably

    the case number given.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

  3. My fiance spent three years working in Hong Kong 15 years ago and needs to acquire a police certificate. This is the last issue we have to resolve before her K1 interview.

We have been trying to acquire the bank draft in HK dollars that is required to get her police certificate, but none of the banks will issue it. As we read in other posts here some BPI branches will do it (and my fiance has an account there), but they have recently changed their police and cannot issue bank drafts at BPI in Hong Kong dollars. We have tried many other banks but none will issue the draft.

Has anyone recently had success in Manila with acquiring a bank draft in HK dollars? If so, which bank? Did they require an account there?

    Thank you.

did you have trouble getting the letter from the NVC that states the reason for the CERTIFICATE OF NO CONVICTION. I have searched all over this site and see no one stating what they did to get the letter. I emailed the HKP and they replied that i needed the letter before they would process my CERTIFICATE REQUEST.

    any help would be great.

  4. I was wondering how I go about instructing the HONG KONG POLICE to send my wife's CLEARANCE LETTER to the appropriate consulate. Is there a pdf form letter for this? I have found the Hong Kong Police application online but not a letter from the US Govt.

i found this on the HONG KONG POLICE FORCE

    4. All applications must contain the following documents:

    a) A completed application form .

    b) A photocopy of his or her Hong Kong Identity Card / valid Travel Document.

    c) A photocopy of a letter from the relevant Consulate / Immigration Authority / Government Authority, which contains his or her name and clearly indicates that the production of the Certificate is required.

    d) A photocopy of the documents proving his or her relationship with the Principal Applicant for the application if the said letter does not contain his or her own name.

    e) A full set of his or her fingerprints taken and certified by a recognized police or law enforcement agency where he or she presently resides. A full set of fingerprints should include the impression of each of his or her fingers, the plain impression of the four fingers of his or her left and right hand taken simultaneously, and the plain impressions of thumbs. Certification of the fingerprints must clearly state:

    i. The name and rank of the person taking the fingerprints

ii. The full name of the police or law enforcement agency with their official chop, and

iii. The date and place taken

Fingerprints submitted that do not clearly show certification are not acceptable. Fingerprints taken by the applicants themselves, a legal representative or private / commercial agency are also unacceptable.

    f) A bank draft to the amount of HK$205 per person, made payable to "The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region". The draft must be payable in Hong Kong. A personal cheque in Hong Kong dollar which is issued and authorized by any licenced banks in Hong Kong is also acceptable.
Please note that the processing fee will be adjusted to HK$210 per person with effect from 2 January 2015.
  5. I submitted my DS-261 on 11/14/2014.

when i go on the https//ceac.state.gove/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx site and put in my NVC CASE and INVOICE ID NUMBER I get this message " This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted. If you believe you have received this message in error, or to resume processing of the case, please contact the NVC immediately."

I have read here on VJ that this is a good thing. The NVC is in the process of processing the DS-261.

How long should this take? I know its the holiday season so maybe thats the reason. I see others paying their bills very quickly after NVC issues case and invoice numbers.

Any advice or suggestions.... or do i just wait and check each day.

    thanks

  6. *** Thread moved from CR-1 Process forum to the CR-1 Case Progress subforum. ***

i just sent another email ... few days later get my NVC CASE NUMBER and INVOICE ID NUMBER ..

i went to pay my fees.. but got this message

so then after reading a a bit more... i had to choose an agent.

so i signed up using the DS261 online.

i am assuming after the 3-5 day wait , i will be able to pay my fee's

    .....

  7. I already received my NOA2 (I-797), and still waiting for the NVC reciept.

i have waited almost 2 months and sent a email to see what is going on at the NVC.

now all of a sudden I get a text message notifying me again of the NOA2.

how long does it take for them to generate

    USCIS Receipt Number: ###############

    Case Number: ####

    invoice ID Number: #############

    thanks

  8. I just wanted some input on a experience that occurred recently. I applied for my wife (philippine citizen staying in Canada as W-1) to just come and visit before i start the I-130 process. I did the DS 160 online and got the interview date easily. She went to the interview with all documents requested. The interviewer ask some basic questions. He asked her who she was going to visit and she replied " my husband in the USA" the interviewer immediately told her he can not grant a visa at this time. And he remarked that " your husband should get you as his wife"

she was given the PINK SLIP which stated the generic ... not enough evidence for return trip to Canada.... Even though she had a letter from her employer stated her contract was not up til March 2013. My wife was going to visit me here in October 2012 for just 1 month stay.

Is it really this difficult for my wife to come and visit.

  9. I have read on the uscis web site that you need to send in original birth and marriage papers... but i see on this site you can send in copies... which is accepted.

i read this on the site

Original documents, photocopies, and translations (if required, as explained above) of the following documents must be submitted to the NVC for you and each family member immigrating with you to the United States.

When i called and ask the question the guy told me send originals.

    thanks

    chuck

  10. The path to a K3 visa will be closed by the National Visa Center, should one start down that path. K3 is a visa that will never be issued. What is administratively closed is the I-129F petition for spouse, once it arrives together with the I-130 at NVC. Skip filing the I-129F. It will simply delay the approval of the I-130 that starts the path to the visa that's actually still available.

False and misleading statements are NOT be best way to convey needed information, though they are sometimes easier to type.

Now I am confused ... is a I-129F a petition for spouse or fiance ?
