  1. Hi there! This is my situation.

Got married on a K-1 visa in December 2012

Got my AOS in October 2014

    Got divorced in May 2016

Applied for I-751 in September 2016

Received a RFE in April 2018

Mailed out evidence in May 2018

Received a letter about 3 weeks ago stating that my case got transferred from CA to MO and that I will receive a letter for an interview date. I haven't received anything yet. I bought my ticket to Slovakia back in January because I thought I would be good by now. Is there any way I can travel? Thanks in advance for any help!

  2. I mean in the RFE letter it does say "THE SERVICE WILL PROCESS YOUR FORM i-765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION (IF SUBMITTED) WITHIN 90 DAYS OF THE RECEIPT OF YOUR MISSING INITIAL EVIDENCE", but there's no word mentioned about a AP. I even called the USCIS twice, talked to two different people and they said that the RFE doesn't affect the process. I guess I just have to hang in there. Thanks all for your help though.

  3. Hi there,

I'd appreciate if somebody could help me out. Long story short I got married on a K-1 visa. About a month ago I applied for AOS. I received a RFE and have 87 days to submit the necessary documents. A couple of weeks ago I applied for a Travel Document and Employment Authorization. My question is: If I receive the Travel Document, but don't happen to submit my RFE in time does the Travel Document become invalid? Thank you for your help!

  4. Dear VJers,

My fiance and I filed in February 2012 though we received our NOA1 on March 7th. When i spoke with him today he told me he was on the phone with USCIS yesterday night and was told our case is at the NVC in vermont . My question is, is that even possible?

From the process outlined on VJ, we are to be approved before going on to NVC...does any one have any answers?

    Thank you

Why don't you check on your petition status on the USCIS website?

  5. Hi everybody,

I was wondering if quitting my job before the interview could lead to a K-1 visa denial? I'm going to visit friends abroad and I want to spend some quality time with my family before I leave for the US. The only employment gap I have is from june 2011 until february 2012 (I went to the US twice and spent 6 months with my fiance. 3 months I spent looking for a job in my home country).

Just want to make sure it's a safe thing to do.

  6. Hi everybody,

This is a great website and I'm grateful for it. I'm sure it's helped a lot of people. I wanna say this though. Don't always listen to the people on here. Each case is individual and each US embassy has their own rules and requirements. If you have a question or problem don't be scared to get in touch with the US embassy in your home country. They give you the facts. I'm speaking from experience. I had a little problem and people were kind of negative about it. I didn't get discouraged and wrote an e-mail to the embassy and it paid off. I found a solution. Just thought this might be helpful for some people. Best of luck to everybody! :-)

  7. Hi everybody,

My fiance and I got our NOA2 this week. I'm trying to gather my paperwork for the embassy and this is my concern about the Affidavit of support: My fiance makes enough money, but has had three different jobs within the past six months. He won't be able to obtain a letter from his current employer stating how much his annual income is. On top of that he didn't file for taxes last year. I'm worried this might cause problems at the interview. Is there anything we can do? Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  8. I'd no longer wait and definitely make a phone call.

This is what it says on your timeline:

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between May 28, 2012 and May 31, 2012*.

If this date range has passed or your application is past due per USCIS processing times then you should consider calling the USCIS to inquire on your petition. If you have been approved please update your timeline.

    Good luck!

  9. Tell me about it. We filed at the end of february and the other day I read on here that this couple filed in the beginning of may and got their NOA2 at the end of may. They filed at the same service center (California) as we did. Now tell me how fair is that? On top of that they met last june and got engaged within three months. I've met my fiance in september of 2009. How annoying!!!
