last week i received text and email from uscis for being placed in line scheduling for interview.

My question is, do they send you text and email when they schedule your interview and when they send you letter in mail for interview ?

and usually how long does it actually takes to get interview letter after in line ?

Yes, they do send you another email. "Your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION is now scheduled for interview. You will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview."

It may take anything from a few hours to a few months to get this email, depending on how busy your local office is. In about a week or so after this email you will get a paper mail.

As for ROC, you can go ahead and apply now, just check in I-751 that you are applying as a widow, and include a copy the death certificate.

SSN card, passport, government issued IDs, and any documents which prove your bona fide marriage if your N-400 is marriage based.

And aren' t you the luckiest one took only couple of months? I said 'overall', meaning in most cases. have you seen other applicants other than yourself squared it away so fast? Correct me if I'm wrong again

My timeline is about the same as everyone else's whose local office is at Buffalo, NY

My point is that timeline at upstate offices may be different from timeline at NYC offices

But based on mine and what other ppl's experiences, overall NYS deals with the heaviest volumes of applicants in the east coast. Good luck !

I do not agree NYS has a few field offices. Even though there are tons of N400 applicants living in NYC, which causes delays at NYC offices, the situation at upstate offices in different. I live in NYS, and in my case it took only a couple of months from the day I sent N400 to the day of the interview.

Look at the older monthly threads (January filers, February filers, etc). Many people share their interview experiences there, as well as in the personal threads about their own interviews.

That's strange, you live in massachusetts and you've done your biometrics in rhode island.

Probably Boxergal lives not far from MA-RI border, that's why she is sent to RI office. I used to live in MA, and my ROC biometrics were in Connecticut.

So you mean that the airline has no rights to check paperwork of a passenger to make sure that a passenger can be legally admitted to the country where he or she is heading?

Also, I was talking about all other check points in Borispol, not just the airline one. Probably now they don't care about the passengers visas, but I still remember how a few years ago they questioned me about my AP because they didn't believe it was a proper travel document to enter the US.

I feel there were multiple places where the airlines failed that just perpetuated the problem. We shall see.

I wonder how that happened that they let you to leave Ukraine without a travel document. It is hard to believe that nobody during all those multiple check-in points in Borispol questioned how your wife was going to enter the US. They shouldn't have let your wife to board the first plane in Borispol.

Sorry to hear about your story, but unfortunately they were right. Neither american birth certificate nor american naturalization certificate are valid travel documents. If a US citizen wants to travel by air, he/she must have a passport.

You just show up at the ASC at an earlier date.

And when you are there, be prepared that they might refuse to take you before your scheduled date

You cannot skip biometrics on your own. Sometimes they can process N400 using previous biometrics, but if they want to to go and take biometrics, you MUST go. Otherwise, your N400 will be considered abandoned.

Hi all,

I received my biometrics notice. But I can't make it on the scheduled date.

They scheduled me at Syracuse ASC, but Rochester ASC is easier for me to get to.

So I'm planning an InfoPass there to do an early bio. Has anyone here done this sort of thing (taking bio through an InfoPass at Rochester) before successfully?

Different.

They don't ask you history or civics questions at AOS interview.

At my 5 year based interview the IO wanted to take a look at my divorce papers and my SSN card. Luckily I came prepared and had with me everything she wanted to see.

Sorry to hear about your experience. As far as I know, they do the oath ceremonies in Buffalo at least twice a month, and also there are places in Rochester and other WNY cities.

If you are a citizen and your husband is married to you, he needs to wait for at least 2 years and 9 months since he got his green card.
