  1. Maybe I'm coming from an emotional place, instead of a logical place right now. But after finding out that my husband didn't get his visa, my gut reaction is to just get to him. I have all these plans running around in my head of moving all of my things into my parent's rental house and buying a one way ticket to Morocco until he gets a second interview and can come home with me. I don't know if this would be a wise decision, but at the moment.. it certainly seems like a decision I want to make. Any thoughts?

  2. A long visit is a great next step. It's impossible to provide any additional advice without knowing the actual circumstances of your relationship.

You can start now to prepare your response to the Notice of Intent to Revoke that you'll receive in a few months from USCIS. One step in doing that is to have your spouse write a very detailed report of his interview experience from the time he entered the Embassy until he left, including all questions asked and ALL ANSWERS. Make it as close to verbatim as humanly possible.

Thanks for this advice. I certainly will tell him. It will be a much needed visit to cool down after this disappointment. I was there for five weeks in February when we got married. I haven't been back as I'm a student, but I am taking spring semester off to go spend time time with him.

How many miles between work and home? Geez I don't know how many miles I drive for work. I can tell you it takes 45 minutes to an hour though... as for my husband HA! I couldn't tell you where it is! That's why I have a GPS.

"Exactly how many friends?" How exactly did they expect THEY would know the answers? You husband could have said "five" and been denied for lying. It's a totally bizarre interview technique.

I suggest the same as pushbrk, get him to write it all down while it's still fresh in his mind. When he has your next interview, I suggest you fly there to attend it.

The whole thing sounded insane to me. I wish that I could have attended this one, but Casablanca does not allow the USC to be present for the interview. I would have to wait across the street at the coffee shop. That place is a joke.

  3. Well,

Driss had his interview today and was asked questions like "what exact day did you tell her that you loved her"? "exactly how many friends does she have?" "how many miles are there between her house and her job?" They didn't ask any questions that I would have guessed. If I asked married couples that have been married for fifty years what exact date they told each other they loved one another, in most cases, they wouldn't have any idea! He was then told "well, you don't know her very well" and that she is writing her report and sending it to the NVC. I don't know what to do next, my heart is broken. They asked him about his friend, who has been going through immigration proceedings for a long time. He has been denied once for a K1 and is now going CR1 route with his wife. They asked him if they discuss immigrating a lot. I don't know if that had anything to do with his denial or not. I'm just at a loss as to what I can do next. I will head to Morocco in the next month to spend a few weeks with him.

  4. Thanks for the responses everyone. We will be contacting the French embassy in Morocco to get more information on this. When I was at a long layover in Paris, I did meet a group of friends who were flying home to Morocco from somewhere. They made remarks that they would love to get out and explore if it wasn't for visa restrictions. I think that we might be okay as long as he is only in CDG.

  5. It would be two tickets and one stop. A stop in Paris or Spain is fairly standard when flying to or out of Morocco. It would be no different if I went through a single airline. Thank you for your exaggerated comment however unappreciated it might be.

Any time I have flown through Paris I never had to go get my baggage and check it in again. I did have to go through security again and show them my boarding pass and passport. He will be holding a Moroccan visa with his American visa stamp in it, and tickets to the United States. We will contact the French embassy in Morocco to clear everything up as someone suggested.

getting a separate flight means that you are not staying in the transit zone.

you will need to leave, pick up your luggage, go to the check in desk and get your new boarding pass for your second flight and re-check your luggage.

yes he will need a visa. if this is a one time flight , stop overcomplicating it and get him a decent flight with good connection, not 5 tickets and 10 stops...

  6. That's what I thought. Once in Paris, he would fly straight to Seattle. It would just be on a different airline than Royal Air Maroc. Which, I'm fairly certain happens regularly. He wouldn't be leaving the airport. Just transferring flights at CDG.

I am not understanding the answers that say your husband will need a visa or leaving a transit zone????

With our situation we landed at CDG airport PARIS walked to our connecting flight through security and caught our next flight.

He only held a Moroccan passport and our second set of tickets to Atlanta.

  7. Hello everyone,

My husband and I have been doing some research on the best flights from Morocco to Seattle, or Spokane Washington. I discovered that it is significantly less expensive to fly him to Paris on Air Maroc and then to Seattle via another airline. He is worried that they will not let him fly to Paris and then connect on a different airline. I think this sounds ridiculous, but as an American citizen, there are many countries that I am privy to visa waiver programs. Can anyone tell me if it will be a problem to purchase a ticket to Paris and then a ticket on a separate airline to Seattle?

    Thanks!

  8. Hey everyone. So, Driss and I are finally finished at the NVC. Our case was completed on the 15th of October. Driss forgot to send a translation of his passport to the NVC, so we had a pretty large delay. However, we're all done now and just waiting for an interview date. Naturally, we are starting to get mentally prepared for the interview. I'm really unsure of what we need to take to the interview. I assume all the documents that I sent to the NVC are en route to Casablanca, but I've received mixed information on what needs to be brought to the interview. Some people say bring everything we sent to the NVC, some people say that they already have all that information and just to bring further proof of an ongoing relationship. Also, is there a separate IV fee to be paid the day of the interview? or does Driss just need to bring the receipt from the NVC payment portal? We are putting together all of our most recent emails, chats, phone records and photos for the interview. I just need to know if I also need to be putting together copies of both AOS and IV packages and preparing to pay another fee at the embassy?

Thanks so much for all of your help. Any links with detailed information would also be appreciated!

  9. Hey all!

Today they generated my AOS bill, so I submitted the payment for that and I'm putting together my AOS packet. I'm a full time student, and I work full time. I make $200 a year under the 125 percent poverty guideline when I calculate my wages. However, to make ends meet without a struggle.. I have taken out school loans that cover my rent costs for the year. I know when I file my Federal income taxes, they included that money as income. Can I print out my award letters, and tuition statements to throw me over that minimum limit? Then I wouldn't need to use my co-sponsor, which I feel is the best. I just don't know if they will accept that as income.

  10. Hey everyone. So, I'm getting together further evidence of ongoing marital relationship to send in with my NVC stuff. Since I sent in my packet,I've changed my name, put him on my lease, renters and car insurance. I realized that I have an affidavit from the Adul that we were married by stating that our engagement was in step with Islamic tradition and that they found our engagement and thus our marriage to be valid. I do not assume that this will have much baring on the decision. However, I was curious if it's still a valid piece of evidence?

Thanks for all your help again!

  11. so I'm looking at the list of things that are needed in the NVC package vs. things that my husband needs to take to the interview. I'm seeing some cross over there and wondering why he needs to bring these things to the interview if the embassy already has them? Things like his original or certified birth certificate. I have one that is translated that I'm sending with his IV package.. but he's going to need another one for his interview? as well as the I-864 and my tax transcripts. He needs to bring those as well? just a little confused. Any help is appreciate.

  12. First off, grats on your recent approval!

Do NOT bother calling tomorrow. It will NOT be there. Not even when it was fast for cases to get to NVC, was it THAT fast. At its fastest, it took a week. Currently, it's taking a month for a case number to be assigned. I suggest waiting MINIMUM a week, probably two weeks though, then start calling!

Thanks.. I figured as much. A girl can hope though!I'll call at the end of the week and see if I have anymore luck left over after my super fast petition approval. :)

  13. I never thought that in less than 3 months we would have our approval. I was laying in bed with my three year old niece, attempting to get her to sleep when I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket. Normally, I would have just let it sit there. However, my sister was late coming to pick my niece up, so I thought I should check it out. It wasn't my sister.. and I couldn't be happier. approved :) Now lets see how long it takes them to send my approval to the NVC. That's not even putting a damper on my spirit. As long as I know we made it through this first waiting period.. I'm a happy girl.

  14. Have your own party! My town has maybe 10,000 people in it. My whole block is pretty much a series of small parties. People setting off their own displays while we wait for the big one, barbecue, drinks, and a general good time. The field across the street from my house is where they put the big firework display. They're always music playing over there, people waving the American flag, food, games, and a beer garden. If someone's walking by my house and our neighbor's houses to get to the field with the display, about 20 different people are yelling "Happy Independence Day!" Only on the fourth of July, when I turn in to go to bed around 1 or 2 am, could I call "BOOM" "BANG" "CRACK" a comforting series of sounds to fall asleep to. Just knowing that my neighborhood is out there celebrating where we came from as a nation makes me sleep like a baby.

  15. Thanks for everyone's replies. I happen to have access to a lawyer who I'm talking to right now. As I followed the companies own procedures for sick leave and have had no prior disciplinary actions, he doesn't see grounds for termination. A couple of weeks ago, I got an award for Employee of The Quarter for "Being dependable" and "going beyond your job description to be an invaluable team member". Get sick for a week and all the sudden I'm fired..... .I really just can't believe it. I'm glad to hear that I shouldn't have issues with the NVC stage after acquiring a new position. To be honest, when they fired me.. that was the ONE thing on my mind immediately. Nothing else really mattered.

  16. I was fired today. It was completely wrongfully and I am fighting it. Unfortunately, I work in an "at will" state, which means they think they can get away with anything they wish. I was on physician authorized medical leave. When I returned to work, they told me that I was no longer needed due to not being at work for for six days. I asked if they had got the fax from the physician explaining why I needed to take the time off from work. They stated that they had received it and my messages on the program manager's phone. They still felt that the importance of my supervisory position meant that I needed to not take that week off from work. They stated it was "unacceptable". Moving on... the fact that I got fired from that place isn't really the reason I'm writing this post. I got a lead on another job, that I'm going to check out tomorrow. I would make over the 125 percent poverty limit. However, we could possibly be moving to the NVC stage in August or early September. I spoke with the head of the nursing department, and she seemed really interested and wanted to meet with me about the specifications of the position. I'm pretty sure I'd have this job if I sell myself well during the face to face meet tomorrow. Am I going to have enough time at this new employment to show that I'm able to support my husband and I? I'd probably have a couple weeks of pay stubs and a letter from my new employer, and of course I can show that I have worked consistently in the past year and a half, since I stopped school full time.

  17. I can go for a week. I don't think she can justify demoting me if I leave for one week. Is a week enough though? This is both of our first time being married, we are the same age, I spent over a month there the first time and I have no religious affiliation. I was just concerned that one visit isn't enough to prove ongoing marital relationship and that going one week the second time would be looked at as an attempt to just squeeze in a visit for posterity. I know that MENA consulates are hard enough without having red flags.

  18. You already did something you may regret. I am with foreverwaiting... marrying in the 1st visit and not returning is shooting yourself in the head- in most MENA countries. We will never be able to predict if you'll be approved, denied or put in a lengthy AP/ AR process, but is looking like the stereotypical pattern that triggers denials or lengthy AP's out of Morocco. I don't understand why would you be demoted if you take your vacation. I don't think that's legal!

For $100 less, it isn't worth. You can clean houses, babysit... whatever for a month and make extra $200.

    Good luck!

You're right, I can probably make up the extra cash pretty easily. The more you guys have responded and put in your opinion, the more I have thought about it. I am definitely going to go back in late August or early September which will be before we even reallly get into the nvc stage. Their problem with me going is that I just got back from a five week vacation to Morocco in the midddle of March.

  19. Yeah that whole getting a promotion and raise and then taking it back sounds crazy. I would get dad to sponsor and off to morocco I would go but not for the interview but for a sooner visit if possible.

Thanks for your reply. The nature of the position is hard to explain, but I will try. I am the lead of a team of people who supervise and help mentally ill teenage girls with behavioral issues reach treatment goals. The girls know me to be the one who calls the shots, they know that if they are acting out, and I come into the room that whatever game they're playing is done. You have to have a certain personality, and relationship with these kids to be good at what I do. There is no one who can do my job like me working there currently, and while I'm gone..well, when the cat is away the mice will play. The house will go into crisis cause the girls will be left with weaker staff. That is why she is threatening demotion. My end of the week will not run smoothly with me gone. And I'm in an At Will position.. according to them, they don't have to have a good reason to fire me or demote me.
