  1. Hey thanks for the reply but I think you misunderstood what I was asking, of course we have a household size and it would be two but the point I am making is this; is this info not irrelevant as my wife has no income to sponsor me with as we will obviously both be moving to the States where we don't have employment as of yet, therefore isn't this info section as well as all the other sections regarding household income etc N/A or 'not applicable' to my case when she fills it out as her Dad will be filing the I864 separately as a joint sponsor who is covering ALL of the income requirements? I hope I am making sense here, of course if she is reqired to fill in this info then she will, I just don't see the point of it.

  2. Hi everyone, I'm sure this question must have been asked loads of times before but I am a little confused about how my wife is supposed to fill out the I864 form. I am the beneficiary living in Ireland with my wife who is the petitioner. Obviously since my wife is temporarily living with me here in Ireland she has no US income so we are getting her Dad to be the joint sponsor as he can cover the total cost. Now I understand my wife still needs to fill out the I864 even though she doesn't qualify to sponsor me from an income point of view, I understand she needs to prove that she is domiciled in the US and thats fine but should she just N/A question 21 to do with household size? and what about question 22? she is employed currently in Ireland, does this need to be reported as well as adjusting what her income is to dollars for question 23? This all seems completely irrelevant as she will be leaving this job shortly to go back to the US. Questions 24 and 25 also seem pointless for her to fill in? Should all these be left blank or N/A? Does anyone know what the current procedure is here? Thanks for any help.

  3. The petitioner should call them. Is your wife not in the US now? I never received anything from the NVC after the K1 NOA2 was issued for my now wife. I had to keep calling then get the number via the phone. With this she was able to set up her interview and appointment. I'm not sure if the NVC automatically sets up appointments for Ireland or not. Its rather country specific if the NVC sets up the interview or if the beneficiary needs to set it up. Also they will not talk with third parties about your case, unless they were specifically authorized as agents by you previously. When my wife was adjusting status and I called for her, and they had to get permission from my wife to talk for me plus then they wanted to refer to me as the translator.

Thanks for the info, my wife is currently with me in Ireland, I kind of figured that they might have to chat to us directly, hopefully we will just hear from them soon.

  4. Hey guys, I'm just wondering should I call the NVC at this point as I'm waiting over a month to hear back from them after my NOA2, would it do any good or will they just tell me to wait some more? I have already emailed them but apart from an automated response I haven't heard back yet. Also since I can't really afford to call America is ot ok for my mother in law in the States to inquire on my behalf? Thanks for any help, starting to wonder what the delay is now.

  5. Hi there everyone, thank you very much for all your responses.

I am assuming the response of the NOA1 would take at least a month from date of postage anyway so I wouldn't be too worried Anthony. By the way, did you send it to Chicago via registered postage? There should be a tracking number with it.

To 'forgiven4saken' and 'pushbrk', I think I should put down my mother in laws address just in case as we have quite a bit of history at that address and so if anything does need to be sent to or from there it won't be a problem. Although we will eventually be residing in CA we will be stopping by for visiting etc at her mums house, for a few days at least anyway.

Your answers are quite helpful, thanks you.

@forgiven4saken, yes perhaps if you could do a mock up for this website, I think it would be helpful for a lot of couples in the future. If it were to be sent to a moderator of VJ?

By the way we are going the CR-1 route, I wonder if this would change any of the above responses?

    kind regards,

    Paul

Yeah I am hoping it is normal to take this long, the only reason I worry is that looking at everyone else's timeline on here the initial NOA1 seems to only take a maximum of 2 weeks and thats to receive the physical coply let alone the email confirmation, it's 3 weeks now for me and still no word, I guess every case is different though. I did register the package but unfortunately I can only track it as far as the status of 'received in the US' and that was ages ago so I assume that was received at the port of entry not necessarily the Chicago lockbox. As far as your question re going the CR-1 route you get issued a CR-1 if you have been married less than two years at the time the visa is issued, then after two years you have to apply to remove the conditional status (and pay a fee I understand) otherise you are issued an IR-1 which is good for 10 years I believe.

  6. I didn't receive an email when the NOA1 went out, rather it just came in the mail eventually. I also attached the G-1145. If you're using an international address, my guess would be that it's in the mail. As you don't have a receipt number yet it will probably be difficult to look up at this point. I filed from within the US and it still took almost two weeks to get the NOA1. Sent it registered mail on the 4th, check cashed on the 8th, and the NOA1 arrived in the mail on the 16th. Did others get an email for the NOA1?

Hey, yeah all I can do now is wait and hope it comes soon, I guess since I am in Ireland it might take a little longer to get to me, the whole process itself is so overwhelming I was hoping to get off to a good start.

  7. I doubt if it would have went any quicker because I turned the I-130 for my kids in on 1 Feb in person at the consulate and still no answer. Unless you get any RFE in the mail, everything is fine.

Yeah I probably just need to be a little more patient, I am a little worried because I ticked the box saying 'status as permanent resident' on the g-325a form instead of ticking 'other' and putting 1-130 but it's pretty obvious it's an 1-130 since we are both here in Ireland and we stated in the cover letter what we were applying for, I'm more worried the package was lost or something but I'm probably just paranoid, just hope I hear soon.

  8. It took me about 3 months to get my I-130 approved. I was told from the beginning it would take that long. Standard wait time for Germany. What is the wait time like in Ireland?

Hey, well I am actually hoping for 3 months also, it probably would have been quicker if we could have applied directly to the embassey but USCIS changed the rules on that unfortunately, I am just worried now because like I was saying I sent off the I-130 two weeks ago and still haven't received any NOA1!

  9. Hey Paul, I am in pretty much exactly the same situation as yourself except I got married last September and both me and my wife want to live in the US asap, I am from Limerick and my wife is American. I hate that all the official forms seem to take it for granted that the American spouse is living in America, We just filled in my wife's grandparent's place as intended address, we will probably end up there for a couple of weeks anyway. We both want to move to California asap when we get over but it takes time to get sorted with a job/place etc. We just sent off the I-130 two weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back, I actually started a thread about that as I'm getting worried, here's hoping we both get through what looks like a long and overly complicated process! ps my own name is Anthony.

  10. Hey guys, I'm new on here, just joined today, I am hoping I can get some help on here. I am from the Rep of Ireland and currently live here with my wife who is American, we sent off the I-130 petition on the 12th February. I registered the post so that I could track it, unfortunately I was only able to track it as far as being received in the USA and not as far as the Chicago lockbox on the 14th february. Now the thing is I still haven't received any NOA1 even though the g1145 was filled out and attached. I really thought I'd have an email by now. I'm just wondering if I should expect to wait a little longer or shold I try to contact the USCIS, I don't know what number I'd call and don't really want to end up spending a fortune on a call without getting any real info. Also after mailing my package I realised that on both the g-325a forms we marked the box Status as Permanent Resident as I didn't know we were supposed to tick other and write I-130 so now I am worried about this, I really hope something that small wouldn't hold anything up? Any advice on what we should do would be greatly appreciated..
