Where are you in the process? I had to submit the translations of the wedding cert and birth cert to the USCIS for my wife and her stepdaughter. The NVC told me the translations were not needed since the interview was going to be scheduled in Bogota.
-
Congratulations! Keep checking, I called the NVC the same the day it was approved and got my interview date that evening. Good luck!

It cost my wife about 250.000 pesos for all of the shots and 150.00 for the medical exam. The Dr's will get their money's worth but what can you do? They're the ones who decide weather you're medically cleared to enter the country.
Good luck and wishing you guys the best.

You would be better off just getting all the shots from the doctor at your medical exam since they are the only ones that decide which shots you need and you'll have less issues at the POE with immigration.

I received an RFE for my divorce decree, I had to send an original copy with a copy.
-
I would definitely use a lawyer. Him getting arrested because he didn't pay the traffic ticket or show up to court is more realistic, but he had to come into police contact again to get arrested.

Yes you can track the progress through the DHL website if you registered and they have the courier information. My wife's visa was approved on the 13th and I checked with DHL and it's in Cali as of Saturday.

Did you register with the Columbia visa website to have your visa delivered in Cali?

I sent original copies and copies of her birth certificate and marriage certificate only. On ALL of the forms on the top right corner, I put the BGT case number. I also used a cover letter for all the AOS and IV packet (im pretty sure it wasn't necessary). I think you have enough for your proof of employment. The employment letter is good proof but Im pretty sure it's not necessary either.
Once you get to the NVC stage it will go by fast! Good luck!!!

Same for me, it took about 1 1/2 for them to confirm they had received the 3032. You can always call the NVC and speak with a representative regarding the status of your case to ease your mind. I know how nerve racking it can be, but the NVC stage will go by fast and before you know it you'll have your interview date! Take care

That's what I did, I emailed the template to the NVC. I also scanned the form and had my wife sign it and emailed it back to them, just in case. They responded about 10 days later. The NVC process will go by fast and you'll have your interview date before you know it!!!! Take care

I submitted my petition without any supporting documents, just like you did and I did get an RFE asking for the documents. I sent them in and a month later it was approved. It delayed the process about 3 weeks.

Thanks a bunch Ron4! I appreciate the help.
aws&ndd, that is awesome we have the same interview date. We should get together and hang out. I'm thinking of arriving with my wife about 4 days before the interview, since my stepdaughter is going with her. Have you guys made your medical appointment yet?

Yeah, go ahead and give me some names and ill check them out. Thank you for the help!

Case was completed yesterday with NVC on 10-11-12 and today received an email, attached was the appointment letter for the interview date of 11-13-12 at 12:30PM in Bogota. Does anybody have any pointers on what to expect on my interview date at the embassy? What extra paperwork to bring? Suggestions where to stay in Bogota?
Thank you all I would appreciate any suggestions.

Congrats on your i130 approval!
I just called the NVC and they told me my case was completed today and now waiting for an interview date in Bogota, so I feel your joy! As far as your question about paperwork. I followed the guidelines from this thread and it helped out a ton. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/365453-nvc-filers-may-2012/
After I-130 approval, It took about a week but I received my new BGT case number. I then emailed a DS-3032 template to the NVC from my spouses email address. After a week, I received confirmation that the DS-3032 was received. A couple days later, I logged onto the NVC website https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx and registered. After a couple of days the status changed where I was able to pay, I paid the $88 AOS fee. I then submitted my AOS packet. For the AOS packet, I submitted transcripts of my tax returns for the past 3 years from the IRS website (they only ask for 1 year, but 3 years is good proof). Recent pays stubs, pay stubs when I initially started working and a letter from my employer that states how long i've been employed, my wages and my job duties (not needed but good proof).
A coupled days later, I was able to pay the DS-230 fee, $230. I submitted the DS-230 along with this paperwork. 2 Passport photos, copy of the passport Bio page, Police Certificate (you can download it from this website, you just need your spouses id number http://antecendentes.polica.gov.co , Original copy and photo copy of Birth Certificate and Civil Marriage Certificate. ( I also submitted a photo copy of my spouses ID, it is not needed but good proof. )
They received the DS-230 packet Oct 1st and it was completed today OCT 11. Good luck and best wishes!

I sent my petition Dec 19, 2011 to the CSC and it took 6 months to get a RFE. They are also slow.

I would recommend gathering tax records for the past 3 years, pay stubs, employment letter for the AOS package. For you DS-230 package, you will need your spouse's original signature on the Visa Application, Spouse Birth Cert., original copy, copy of her passport bio page, her Pasado Judicial, which you can now get online (go to antecendentes.policia.gov) you just need her No. de cedula, and passport photos for your spouse. I called the NVC any time I had questions and they were helpful, but there was a 20-30 min wait. I also emailed the embassy in Bogota and they replied within 24 hours. Start gathering things for your proof of relationship, letters, photos, plane ticket stubs, etc. Also, just to clarify, I spoke with the NVC a couple of weeks ago and the documents in Spanish DO NOT need to be translated for the NVC stage.
I am currently waiting for the NVC to give me an interview date.
Hope this helps a little and good luck, any ?'s don't hesitate to ask.

For peace of mind I would recommend what Rebecca Jo said, it is cheaper and if you run into some issues down the road you always have the option of hiring a lawyer. Just remember a lawyer will not give as much importance to your case as you can.
Best of luck!

Yes, i agree you have to have a lot of patience. In the mean time, you should start gathering all of the required documents you will need for the next stage and beyond, if you want to speed the process up yourself and save a lot of time. Good luck!

You are better off saving your money. It's going to cost you a nice chunk of change through the process. You don't need an attorney. Read and inform yourself, ask any questions here.
Good luck!

Thanks for the help Ryan!
