I haven't been around much lately because of work, so I haven't been able to update anything. But here it goes! My wife was approved at her interview, and she made it into the states yesterday! With a bit of a bump in there.
So, here's what happened in case anyone wants to know. My wife went to her interview (on Wednesday, 10/24) a little early, was eventually called up, and she presented everything. They only asked her a few basic questions, she showed receipts, pictures, chat logs and a few other things. In the end, they told her that they would like to approve her but they couldn't. The reason being that the police certificate was expired! They told her to get another one and make an appointment for another interview. That same day, after ranting angrily at/to me, she went to the police station to ask for another. They told her it would take 2 or 3 days, but somehow she managed to get it the same day. The next day, she went to get it authenticated and made an appointment. Luckily she managed to get an appointment for that Monday! I was sure it was going to take a few weeks. Finally, on Monday, she goes to the interview and takes everything with her just in case it's another full fledged interview. When it's her turn, she presents everything and gives them the new police certificate....
......... they tell her it wasn't necessary and they approved her! I was angry and excited.
After a mix-up with cargo expreso, the courier delivering the visa, my wife received her packet on the 9th of November. Yesterday, she made it to Fort Lauderdale, had no issues coming and now has a nice pretty stamp to look at, haha. She's spent/is spending yesterday, today and part of tomorrow in Miami with her family and a few of mine that live there. Then at 4:30PM EST tomorrow she boards a plane and at 7:55PM PST... plus 15 minutes for her to get off the plane and what not, she'll be in my arms, in San Francisco. <3
I'm incredibly excited and slightly nervous to be reunited with my beautiful wife! Thanks everyone at VJ.com for being so helpful and guiding us on this crazy journey we've had... tomorrow starts a new chapter in our continuing story book. Bless your hearts, thank you!
p.s. apologies for any typos if any haha

I now fit in with all of you. I am waiting for an interview at the Moroccan Consulate after our papers were approved on monday. Morocco tends to have a short wait for interviews, so I am hoping to be notified via email shortly.
hopefully you get word sooner rather than later!
from what i've been able to tell from other nicaragua timelines, it seems to take 2 months, give or take a week, from case complete at NVC to interview date. hopefully my wife and I can sneak in for october!
-
yeah it's taking a while, let's see where we are at by friday though. also, can you edit your post and update my nvc complete date? I already posted an up to date one showing 8/31/12. I don't want the 8/30/12 date to continue
--edit--
nevermind, you saw it!

Just updating mine, since I just noticed that my case complete is actually Aug 31st, not 30th.
-
do they actually email you? hah, i feel skeptical for some reason.
-
nothing yet, but hopefully soon
-
you should call NVC and ask them to see what the status is on your case, maybe speaking to a supervisor or something. in any case, good luck and I hope you hear some good news soon.
-
im getting antsy, I hope we end up with an october interview!!
i am looking over the managua consulate website and under the interview preparation section, it says the beneficiary has to bring their birth certificate and proof of relationship. I always understood that when you send in your packets to the NVC, they'd forward that to the embassy (along with the i-130 stuff) so they would obviously already have it. Should we get her birth certificate again? regarding the proof, we were already planning on doing the obvious and printing more stuff out... plus we have another photo album from our church wedding to go along with the civil wedding album. so i think we'll be okay there.
-
congrats!!! :D
-
Well, whoever he is, he should understand that different countries probably have different policies. I for one know that for Nigeria, interview scheduling is first to second week of each month (for CR1) after the second week, no more scheduling. This is confirmed info froM NVC.
you really can't fully trust them unless you speak to a manager, mayyybe. I called inquiring if my case was complete on friday. Lady got really bitchy and told me that it always takes 20 days for a case to be reviewed and completed. Called back later, and my case was completed, after 4-5 days.
-
Our case was completed august 31st, so hopefully we can squeeze in for an october interview!! hopefully my wife can get here before mid november so we can celebrate her birthday at the end of november together
-
yay, so I called NVC earlier today to ask about our case. they said no, it takes 20 days. I decided to call again around 7pm PST, and they told me it was completed! I asked how long does it take on average to receive word on the interview date. I was told it all depends on the US Embassy but they will let me know by email. We'll see when we get our interview date!
-
congrats! i think ours was approved around 10 or 11pm night owls lol
-
got our nvc case# in july, but sent out on this past friday. I hope it goes quickly from here! takes about 2 weeks for case complete?
-
Congrats! Hope you get the interview date sooner rather than later!
-
thanks dwheels. well, I'm going to get a letter from my employer for sure especially since I Just started it this past april. but I need a cosponsor and was thinking about using my sister. she makes well over 20k a year, and has been for a while so that part is good but she is unable to get a letter from her employer since it's against their company policy. if it's not totally necessary for the cosponsor, that'd be great, hah.
-
So, a letter from the employer is not necessary?
