  1. Two pieces of advice: go over the interview questions (http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Consular_Interview_Questions) and make sure you have all documents needed.

    Good luck :)

Thanks Saylin  Ive read and re-read that link about a katrillion times

RE the docs, I have copies of everything submitted (except the AOS Package but the interview letter confirmed receipt of the AOS and Tax Returns so I hope that wont be a problem), additional pics and cards, money gram receipts, copies of our chats. That should suffice right?

  2. Hi all :) Its been a while since Ive written in this thread. I hope all of you are well and moving swiftly along in the process. Happy New Year too :star:

I have my interview coming up this Thursday :wow: I think I have everything I could need but I still cant help but be nervous. Its crazy to think that the past 9 months have lead up to this one day and the perception of one individual.. scary stuff! :o Any advise or suggestions from yall would be greatly appreciated. My husband seems to think "babe we got this" is sufficient to put my mind at ease lol bless his heart (L)

    Well, keep well peeps :D

Hope everyones 2013 has been good so far

  3. I really dont understand how people can say to just move on and divorce him and move back home. Every couple is unique, what may be basis for one to "give up" may not be the same for another. I for one do not suggest you just "move on" since you say you really love your husband. When you made the choice to marry this man you did so with the premise of loving him unconditionally. He obviously has some issues with the driving licence scenario and tax liability, and so do you with this family, but I dont see why it cant be worked out. If you are both willing and able then go for counselling and try to work on things. Every couple has their problems at one point or another, some bigger than others, but it is a true testament to your relationship when you are able to overcome any obstacle and move forward stronger and still in love. Pray about it, work on your marriage, get some proof of the bonafides of your relationship, sort out the logistics, and God willing you will be ok. Well thats just my two cents. I wish you all the best.

  4. yeah actually we sent ours in January and they opened it on May 21st.. the website says that i should get the noa2 between Dec 15th-26th.. i am hoping that.. but i mean will it take a lot of time for the interview?

ours is at chicago lockbox as well.. what are they doing? lol

So you didnt get your actual NOA2? If your going by the estimated NOA2 date on VJ, I wouldnt suggest putting your hopes on that date as it really is only an estimate based on other members timelines. Mine for example took 5 months which for VSC is the average. So I'd say expect 6 months +/-. If sooner great. You cannot really judge how quickly you will get an interview date as it all depends on how quick you are with paying fees and sending in documents to NVC. NVC is much quicker than USCIS though and you can kind of control to a point how fast/slow that stage takes. Hopefully you have all documents and forms ready and filled out?? If not have a look at the opening post here to get a better idea http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/397538-nvc-filers-december-2012/

    Good luck

  5. Yay, grats!

Two things to do: get medical done and get all documentation ready for the interview (like evidence). And if applicable, sign up for a courier service to receive your visa back. This varies by country, so you need to do your own research on this.

Thanks Saylin :dancing: I put soooo much in our I-130 Pack that I dont have that many new pics to provide besides some wedding pics I hadnt had printed at that time. Our main form of communication is on the phone using calling cards. Would it be enough for me to bring the tons of calling cards I have, few extra wedding pics, bday card he sent me, few whatsapp chats I managed to save, and 3 moneygram receipts I have from when he sent me some money?

  6. yea Mrs Sterling even I am waiting on interview date and November is finishing fast so most likely it will be January date :( :( :(

but what else can we do but wait and try be patient

Have you called the Guyana embassy at all? The Johannesburg embassy have confirmed they have no more dates for Dec so I know mine will be Jan God willing. Maybe give them a call? What do NVC and DOS say to you?

  7. I had a good giggle reading the posts about the guys fretting waiting for the DS3032 acceptance because that was soooo me not so long ago. It took just over 2weeks for ours to be accepted, like one of the other members said, easier said than done but hold on until that 2week mark and then give another day or two and I'm sure you'll have some progress

Hurry up and wait really is the name of this game

Going for a week and a bit since my case was closed at NVC but still no interview date  There arent many CR1 applicants from SA so I cant accurately gage how long it took for them to get their dates after case closed. How long do you guys think I should wait before the proverbial "freaking out"

  8. Hello.

I have a question/concern and I am hopefull that you may provide your opinion.

    Background info:

    * I am a US Citizen

    * I am married and I have petitioned for my husband (I-130) and the petition has been approved by the USCIS

    * We have submitted all the necessary packages to the NVC and have been told by them that the case is closed and they will be scheduling an interview

    * My husband left the US in 2010 and hasn't been back

    * When he left the country he was on F-1 international student visa studying in a university

    * In the past, while on F-1 visa in the US, he has worked at several places WITHOUT WORK AUTHORIZATION, however he always paid taxes, filed tax returns etc

    * The employment history goes back more than 10 years and so it is not on DS-230

    * He has been able to exit and enter the US and receive new visas on several occasions during the period when he has worked without authorization

    * He has never overstayed his visa time and has made sure that he always maintains his status (no out-of-status periods)

Pretty soon he will have an interview in his country and we are very concerned that he may have problems. I have read literature online and have got mixed opinions.

FYI, we are aware that if one has claimed to be a citizen on documents when he/she is not, will have a lifetime ban to enter the US. Thankfully, my husband has not done such thing. Moreover, we intend to be very honest and forthcoming about this issue if asked during the immigration process.

My quesiton is, since I am USC, will my husband be considered inadmissible to the US for certain period of time because of the past employment without authorization?

Are there any other complications that we can expect?

This issue is very urgent and we would be very thankful to receive opinions soon.

    Thank you all

On what basis did he get the employment? When I was in the States on my student visa I could work on campus for 20 hours a week. If this is what he did it is completely legal. My SS card also said something along the lines of not for work purposes without EAD card but the 20hours/week on campus work was an exception so if that was the case youre all good.

  9. Haha I was reading the part in the post # 2

Now everything is so clear :)

Now I'm just going to put updates here :D

Enjoy your beer.. And I will enjoy my hot chocolate because I'm freezing ;)

Chris and Laura chill out (should be easy since your freezing lol). I know its a stressfull time but over-analyzing things can make then seem more difficult than they actually are. Read the guides, take a breath. Looking forward to your "updates" :)

Unless the operator took the time to check the schedule for your specific embassy for that specific month, do NOT listen to them. There could still be openings. And even if it was full, there could always be a sudden opening due to someone canceling. Don't give up hope!!

Thanks Saylin  That gives some hope. So do you suggest still calling NVC every other day or so? Or calling DOS?
