Hey VJ, After Eighteen long months of anticipation I was approve today.
Background Info: I came here on F-1 visa, finished school and applied for opt, 2 months before my opt expire my husband and I hire a lawyer to help with the process because we didn't have a clue on where to start and didn't know about VJ at the time. My husband at the time was LPR and this 'CLUELESS LAWYER' send in AOS with I-130 application. You know what happen it got rejected
After the rejected notice we decide that he was useless and just a money grabber. So we fired him and decide that we would file on our own.
We resubmitted I-130 and waited for PD of August 23,2011. At that time I was out -of- status since my husband was LPR and I had to wait on his citizenship approval in OCT 2012. When he acquired citizenship we immediately upgrade with NVC and contact USCIS and filed AOS on Oct 30. Also , I did not received a NOA I-130 approval in the mail. Eventhough they (uscis) said that they mail it out and it was approved on June11,2012. Anyways, I sent AOS packet with a email print-out from uscis, NVC letter, and printed sreen-shot from USCIS showing approval on website. Thank God no RFE
(despite the many attempts we call trying to get them send a duplicate) told us we have to pay for it really
Interview Experience: We arrived at 8:50am for our 9am interview and went through security and waited. Got call in about ten minutes later. She was very polite and friendly, also she was making much of our baby because we took him as well. She sworn us in and verify IDs, passports, birth certificates for hubby, myself, and the baby. Then her questions were as follows:
1)whats my name, address, bithday and hubby's complete name, address and birthday.
2)Whats the name of the company that hubby work.
3)When was the last time that I worked
4)What year I entered the country and why didn't I returned(because I was in school)
5)Where did we meet(at a party) then the shocking question was
6)Are you and hubby related by any chance (Heck no) eventhough she was giggling
7)Then the usual yes and No questions on the AOS application.
She then said that everything looks good and she will only approved it when I get two vaccinations signed off. Apparently, my civil surgeon forgot to date the shot records on the form. I immediately contacted a civil surgeon in the area and they were gracious to accomodate me and take care of that for me eventhough I had to pay more out of pocket, took the enclose envelope back to her and she said she will go ahead and approved the case
 Also I requested a name change to my husband's name since I didn't file with it.I hope that someone will find this review helpful in their case.
God bless and keep praying.

Hey Zentaco, I have interview tomorrow as well, all the best with yours.
Wish me luck guys right now I am a nervous wreck! lol double checking my documents.
In the end I know that God will pull me through and congrats y'all on the approvals.

We're done! My kiddos and I had our interviews this morning. I had originals and copies of everything, and hardly needed any of it. I had to show the kids' original birth certificates, and handed in some wedding photos and 2 utility bills... and that's it!
I don't know where I missed the memo, but I didn't realize that our AP would be invalid once the I-94s were removed from the passports today. Ack! Especially since we have flights to Canada booked for 2 weeks from now! No worries though. The officer put our approvals into the system immediately and then we got stamps in our passports to show our permanent resident status, so we can travel without any trouble.
Whew. Such a relief to have this all done with. Nothing to worry about until ROC in 2 years now.
I hope it's the same smooth sailing for those still waiting!
Wow awesome news, Big Congrats

Tomorrow is the interview - we'll be going out for a nice dinner, movie and then relax and get a good night's sleep before the interview!
Good luck!

This is my first post commenting on a personal matter, because in the end the decision is really yours.
Eventhough you have acquire some good advices so far, you really need to assess this pain-staking situation very slowly and reasonable. Here are some thoughts you might want to consider and questions you should be asking yourself:
1)Never let her play the victim role because chaeters like to do that,
2)Can you find it in your guts to respect and look on her the way you use to before you found out she cheated?
3)Does she take responsibility for her actions?
4)Is she apologetic?
5)Does she initiates counselling?
These are some of the things you really need to consider and signs you need to look out for.In the end you have to make the decision, what's right for you.Sometimes we forgive someone and try to get past the pain but the memories still lingers.
I pray that the good Lord will guide you in making the right decision.
btw:whatver you decide take the job, because the economy is very hard and you would want to stop with a friend or family member and after a while feel like a burden to them.

Hey congratulations!!! I'm so very happy for you! Looks like we have a similar timeline & also both adjusting from F1. Hopefully they get to my EAD/ AP soon!!!!
Thanks, aleast I'm not the only F1 in here. Your ead is on the way.
Either way, once I received ead in the mail I let you know and definitely update on my interview experiences.
Any updates on your interview yet?
-
Aww, I know that sucks to be in limbo with a job already lined up, while waiting on the leisure of USCIS. Your ead is on the way, sending all positivity your way.Hey, I got my Biometrics appointment rescheduled the same days like your and I did it December 26 after the Christmas holidays. I was wondering when did your status change for the EAD and have you already received your interview letter. I am adjusting from J1 not from K1 so I hope my EAD will be approved some time this week
I applied for super nice job and they said I am hired as soon as I get the card. I don't know how long they will wait for me though... Definitely not 2 or 3 weeks!!!
I checked the online system over the weekend and notice the approval for the ead. Yes got my interview letter on the 8th in the mail. It is scheduled for February 7
Happy but a little nervous.
-
According to the timeframes some of us may receive eads this week or next, fingers crossed we do. Has anyone got theirs yet?
According to online system,
they have approved my ead Jan 5, and mailed notice. Sending speedy approval for all those that are still waiting on ead, interview date and biometric appointment.
-
I really wish that doesn't happen to anyone else. Very frustrating. I got today two letters, one that schedules interview, and one that cancels it. Looks like once they pushed button, they changed their mind...
Hey stargirl just a suggestion, I would call customer service and ask to speak to a tier 2 representative,to find out what's going on, just for a peace of mind. Sometimes it could be and error on their path.
-
I would still show up to the appointment regardless of the torn paper. At the appointment the most they do with the paper besides from checking the appointment date and verifying the biographic information with your identification, is to stamped, date and initial the paper that you have done your biometrics. Therefore,I wouldn't put too much empahsis on the torn paper. Just remember to bring your identification and the paper of course. Good luck!

Biometric Appointment on December 24,

It took me 15 days before they sent me notice of acceptance via email, then 4 days later I received hardcopies in the mail. No need to call to upgrade with USCIS, they will tell you to file i-485 (which you already did) attached a copy of citizenship and approved i-130 notice then they will request your file from NVC. My journey is a little similar to your's.I petitioned I-130 for my spouse based on F2A (when I was permanent resident), and it was approved last year. My spouse has been stayed in the U.S. since I-130 petition.
On the same day (11/14) that I became a U.S. citizen, we sent I-485/I-131/I-765 with a letter and a copy of my naturalization certificate to upgrade the case from F2A to IR-1. The application was delivered to Chicago office on 11/15. So far there is no response from USCIS. The check is not cashed. I become a little worried, since usually check is cashed in a week and E-notification happens in a week.
Is there anything wrong in the procedure? I followed others' previous experience -- there is no need to contact NVC or USCIS to upgrade, just need to send I-485 along with the proof of citizenship.

My package was received Nov 14... I am sad as to why I haven't received any updates on my mail

So here is a little correction in my timeline! Apparently our lawyer didn't send the AOS package Nov 9 as she said. She sent it Nov 14 and they just got it there Nov 19 ... the big waiting starts again
At least I saw the delivery confirmation already and I am sure it was there Nov 19! I hope Christmas holidays won't delay our cases too much
Oh no, these lawyers
thats one of the same reason I fired mines and start to do-it-myself. I don't need a procrastinator at all. But, noa's is coming your way soon.

Hi Padma, I am answering your post base on a similar experience, my mom visited my sister on a 10 year tourist visa, my sister was a US citizen at the time of my mom visit, mom became very sicked my sister didn't want her to go back so she filed papers(i-485, i-765). My mom was in the US her i-94 expired during the waiting game, however, mom was able to adjust her status very smoothly. At the interview she was not asked about her overstayed because my sister submitted her forms before her i-94 expired. Not suggesting that everyone case is the same but my mom was able to adjust without leaving the coutry. Hang tight, you will hear something from them very soon.
Many thanks for reading this and I highly appreciate your time and patience.
My mother came to US on a 10 year visitor visa and her duration of stay expires on 26th November 2012 as on I-94. (She still has few more years left on this 10 year visa) I am an US citizen and I filed I-130 and I-485 together on 1st November and Chicago lockbox received it on 2nd November.
Our checks are not cashed yet. We have not received any kind of communication from them so far. If we do not receive anything from them, would is be legal for her to stay here. I heard that it would be legal for an applicant to stay beyond the visa time if I-485 case is pending. I can not say our application is pending as I do not have any communication from them saying it is pending. The application can be rejected based on possible paperwork mistake or something else.
My doubts are:
1. Will she become illegal if she stays here beyond her I-94 duration date and if the I-485 (AOS) application is rejected for some technical reason.
2. will they consider the AOS application is abandoned if she leaves now before we hear anything from them?
3. Will it become helpful if I apply for her visa extension also now so that one or other can possibly keep her in status?
My question is: Please advise me whether I keep her here or send her back before 26th November.
I sincerely thank all of you for your time and advice.
Best regards, Padma
