  1. Though not the driver I chose, montoya gave my wife (Colombian) someone to cheer for when we went to the Dover race a couple years ago. She would love to go again.

Slowely converting her to my redneck ways.

    Love NASCAR!

Besides, he was out getting an arrepa (sp?) not a taco!

That's why the comment was so dumb..LOL! If ya gonna be racist bubba do it right...I love some NASCAR especially Montoya..

  2. MARTINSVILLE, Va. (AP) -- ESPN broadcaster Bob Griese apologized twice Saturday for a remark he made about NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya while announcing the Minnesota-Ohio State game.

During the broadcast, ESPN ran a graphic listing the top five drivers in NASCAR's Chase for the championship points race. Fellow analyst Chris Spielman asked where was Montoya, who is Colombian. Griese replied that he was "out having a taco."

As the game was wrapping up, Griese, the Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Miami Dolphins quarterback, apologized for the remark and said that Montoya is one of the best drivers in NASCAR.

At halftime of ESPN's coverage of Florida-Mississippi State, Griese apologized again.

"Earlier today on our game I made an offensive comment regarding Juan Pablo Montoya as part of a NASCAR promo. It was regrettable and I should not have said it. I really enjoy NASCAR and I follow it closely and would like to take this opportunity to apologize to Juan, NASCAR and everyone else who heard my comment," he said.

In a statement, ESPN called the remark "inappropriate."

"ESPN has spoken to Bob and he understands that his comment was uncalled for," the statement said.

    What an idiot....

And NASCAR wonders sometimes why it has the reputation it does... I'm a huge fan of this driver and some people get so mad at him they're like "Go back to Mexico illegal drug smuggler!"...DOH! #######???..They just jealous he's beating the "good ol boys"...

  3. We dont' want to hear Obama Bull$hit talk.

Texas didnt' vote for him, nor do we support him.

"What you make of your education will decide nothing less than the future of this country. What you’re learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future."

Yeah..what a crock of BS...encouraging kids to do well in school... the nerve.

3,521,164 Texans voted for Obama... speak for yourself.

  4. This is a big issue in the DFW local area, it's been all over the news. One excuse I heard was that the Arlington school district didn't have enough cable TV bandwidth to show the speech..Hmmmm I worked for that school district years ago and I do remember cable in ALL the classrooms and that was 15 years ago!

It's a disgrace. But most of Texas is "Bush country", what do you expect? Arlington is actually a very diverse community with not so diverse leadership.

  5. What still gets me going is the greeting here in Texas. When people walk of and say: "have a good one". Always wondering what that "one" is supposed to mean. Why can't you just say have a good day?!

Texas speak is a language all its own, isn't it. ;)

    Some of my favorites:

    I'm fixin' to...(whatever you're about to do)

Go ahead and...(whatever you're about to ask or tell someone to do)

'Preciate ya (instead of thank you)

I like to...(whatever you almost did)

Dad gum it! (instead of damn it)

Can't think of any more right now!

Go ahead and add on to this post cuz I'm fixin to put down an idea. But dad gum it! I couldn't remember now what it was! I like to have pulled my hair out thinking about it. Well...ya'll VJ folks are too much..'Preciate ya!

  6. texas=low taxes:)

????? Who told you that? .. Sales taxes range from 8.0 to 8.25 percent and in most major cities/suburbs the property taxes are completely outrageous. no state income tax but they tax the heck out of us for everything else it seems. I live in a suburb ouside of Dallas, most people I know are paying 3500-5000 property tax bills :( Mine's smaller because my house is tiny, but 1800 dollars for 1000 square foot house is pretty high.

Don't get me wrong, I was raised here and i like it but it's not the low price haven unless you live out in the middle of nowhere..and there aren't many jobs in nowhere...

  7. Also, loops around cities and spurs/connectors will be three digits with the last 2 digits being from one of the through interstates. Loops will begin with even numbers (such as I-240, I-485, I-285, etc.); spurs will begin with odd numbers (I-516, I-185, etc).

I'm FROM the US, and the whole loop/spur thing is new to me. Just moved to Texas from NY, and we didn't have those things there, at least not where I was. I still don't really know exactly what they are. ;)

I'm from here in DFW too...lived here for 15 years, moved to Florida for a year and a half and moved back here..and it is WAY easier to figure out how to get around down there...most of the streets are numbered so you know more or less where something is. I got spoiled there before we came back. FM=farm to market road...from the old days.. Spur-shortcut from one highway to another..

  8. My husband is deathly afraid of home made sun tea! He finds the idea of drinking water that was sitting in the sun downright offensive!
K., tell C. that Americanos usually don't leave food in pots on the stove for days & days and continue eating out of the pots. We DO, however (or at least Real Men do), find nothing wrong with eating 3-day-old room-temperature pizza. Fungus is a vegetable, si man. :)

That's so funny! I had to warn my husband from Panama on the dangers of food borne illnesses! In Panama, his mom would buy chinese food early in the afternoon and it would be "waiting" for us in the styrofoam container at 10-11pm at night..after being sitting there for 6-7 hours I was NOT gonna touch that! His mom finally learned her lesson recently after getting food poisoning after eating leftover pizza that she left sitting until the next day without refrigeration.

  9. My husband just got his 10 year GC approved, we'd gotten the 2 year like everyone else through the AOS interview, etc. He has a cousin in Miami that entered the USA on a tourist visa about 5 years ago, stayed, got married to a PuertoRican guy there..and they did AOS about 3 years ago. She got a 10 year card immediately..so she says. How is that possible? She claims it's because she married a PuertoRican and not a "regular American" which that would have NOTHING to do with it.. ( she lives in her own little world sometimes..)

But what would the reason be if it is true? Or is she just in never never land?

  10. Yay!

On our petition sent back in September we listed my father's address as the mailing address because we were in the middle of a move. We recieved the NOA of reciept there because we didn't have a permanent address for about a month. In November we changed the address and recieve the Biometric stuff at our house as well as the letter of transfer from VSC to CSC..

BUT...the notice of approval was sent to my father's address again..saying we will get the GC in 30-60 days..WOW I thought it was usually within 30 days...has it gotten longer?? so I guess I need to call and do another address change or what?? My dad will keep his eyes open for the GC in the meantime..

But..SO HAPPY :) The letter was dated 5/22....

  11. I would wait too. It's only a month and then you can send your app. in once you have a new address where you are moving to. Spend the time now putting everything together so that you don't have to worry about it during your move. Lord alone knows it will be hard enough to find anything with everything in boxes.

    I agree! That's a great idea.

I think the OP could also send in the change of address form before moving, once the new address is known. If the move is 100% definite (lease signed or whatever), send the I-751 packet a few days or so before the move - just put the new address on all of the paperwork. Gets things processing a little sooner, plus eliminates the possibility of losing the paperwork during the move. If the copies are misplaced, not as much of a problem - they can be unpacked later.

    venusfire

If you have family or someone where you are moving, you can also have things sent there, just fill it out that way on the paperwork. We had the same dilemma, and we moved around the end of the 90 day window so we had everything sent to my Dad's house which was in the same area that we were moving. After we were settled we did the change of address and have not had any problems.
