Hi all, congratulations to those who have received their NOA2s and good luck to those who are still waiting!
We got our petition approved a week or so ago and now I'm thinking about what's next. Mostly, I'm thinking about when I'll give notice at my job. I have to give a month so i'm flirting with the idea of giving notice before my interview, but that seems a little risky. I'm interested to hear what you guys are planning, are you thinking of playing it safe or taking the risk?

It feels so much harder to wait now that I know we'll be getting our NOA2 soon. One of the hardest things about this process - aside from being apart of course - is the total lack of communication from the USCIS, I'd be going crazy without visajourney!

Hi everyone,
I just discovered the March filers thread and thought I'd jump in. My NOA1 was March 5 so I'm hoping for an approval in the next three months or so. I was wondering if anyone had seen any recent touches? Its exciting to see that both processing centres are approving petitions for this year, and its great to have VJ as a resource and a support.
Wishing you all good luck and a speedy approval!

Hi everyone,
My fiance and I are currently the process of petitioning for a K1. We met while I was studying abroad in California. The problem I'm having is that I may or may not have overstayed my previous visa, and I would like to know if this is likely to affect our petition. The expiry date on my visa was about 2 weeks after the expiry of my DS2019. I left the States before the date printed on my visa but about one week after the date on my DS2019. I've done some research and apparently because my I94 only said "D/S" not any specific data I should be OK. My mistake was innocent, as I thought that the expiry date on my visa was the day I had to leave, but now I'm not so sure. I am not subject to the 2 year rule and I intend to disclose my mistake at the consulate. Anyway, I'd be really grateful for any light you could shed on this situation, VJ is such a great resource and I thank you all for your help during this stressful process.
Thanks!
Question regarding drug/mental health history and K-1
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Posted · Edited by M*M*
Hi there,
I would be surprised if this was an issue. At my medical appointment (in NZ) the doctor was mostly concerned about my vaccinations and whether or not I could be carrying TB. I don't recall any discussion of mental health or drug use. As far as I know, the doctor would be concerned if you are currently a drug user/abuser. You haven't used drugs for over a decade, so this shouldn't be a concern. If it's easy for you, it probably wouldn't hurt to bring a note from your primary physician and/or a clear drug test. It's been a few years since I've been through the K1 process, any VJers with more recent experience may be able to provide more information. Wishing you the best!
ETA: Added comment about the Dr. being concerned about drug abuse.
