  1. Hi!

I'm pretty sure it's the IR-1/CR-1 visa that you want to file after you are married. It might be a little bit easier if you get married in the states, since they will recognize the marriage certificate. Me and my american husband got married in Sweden. When we filed for the IR-1/CR-1, we got two RFE's asking for a marriage certificate. It wasn't until after my husband talked to a supervisor of some sort that they approved our case. BUT it delayed the whole thing with months..

  2. Sorry I've been away for a bit. I needed sleep last night, obviously. For all those that have responded since last night, thank you for your kind words. And Takis, that article was very interesting to say the least!

    Anyways, a few updates:

Before going to bed last night, my husband emailed me. He told me that he had found this thread that I created (he was actually the one who found VJ originally, I've just stuck around a lot longer laughing.gif). He read through most of it and said he finally woke up and realised what he did. He apologized. He says he knows he doesn't deserve anything, but he's now willing to try to work things out. And that he wants to get back to where we were before all this happened. He mentions that the stuff he said to the girl was wrong, and they're now history. And that he was sorry that it took mentioning divorce and this long thread to finally wake him up to reality.

We went back and forth in two or so more emails about me obviously not having much trust with him at the moment about what happened with the girl. He apologized and says he now realises that I'm actually worth trying to work things out. That he was too blinded by his lack of feelings to see how amazing I was.

Once I got to bed, after awhile of us tossing and turning, he began to cuddle me. And in the morning, before leaving for work, he hugged me for awhile and kissed me goodbye. He has done neither of these things in a very, very long time. So I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. And it's an indication that he's trying, so my hopes are up. He also mentioned today he knows what he's going to get me for our anniversary (coming up on May 21). And that he's going to take me out to a nearby city to celebrate. So, possibly a good turn around, we'll see.

Guess I'll see how the next few days unfold and go from there. Do I trust him completely? No. But I'd like to think I can. And that we can try to work things out, instead of just resorting to divorce. It now seems he's willing to try, which is a good sign, compared to recently.

Oh Saylin! This one made my heart happy! :') I've just read thru the whole thread and felt the pain with you. I'm so glad he realized his mistake and wants to work on your marriage. Just hoping he'll be able to ask for forgiveness in person too.. (big difference!) :)

Trust is something that takes time to build, and seconds to break. So just let it take the time it needs. Give him time to prove to you that he really means it.

As you mentioned sometime before, communication is key. It may not come easy but it is crucial for a relationship to work. So I'm proud of you for facing your fears and start the conversation. With time it will become easier to have these vulnerable open convos. But it will bring you closer together :) I am glad you wanted to fight. It's just like Cheryl Cole sings ;)

"Anything that's worth having is sure enough worth fighting for

Quitting's out of the question, when it gets tough, gotta fight some more

We've gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love"

    Good luck now :) <3

  3. You're welcome.

And yes, you can email it! I recommend it way over mailing it in! Go to the first post in this thread and click on the 'DS-3032 email template' link. This way, there's no need to print, sign, or scan!

Oh, I thought Sweden wasn't eligible to the emailing :)

    -

Just got off the phone. Only had to wait in line for about 15 minutes..

She said that it doesn't matter if they have put the married or the maiden name on the DS-3032. Why, is cause they have received documents with both names at some point. (That's copies of my old passport I guess, that we used to show that I visited my hubby.) Anyways she said to sign with my married name even tho the document said my maiden name. And when I asked if I could email in the form, she said I could!

So you were right Saylin :) That was good news!

  4. Ok, i'm all new here and don't really know if i'm clicking and writing in the right places.. but i have a question :)

Just now when i was printing my DS-3032 form i noticed they put my maiden name on there, even tho we've used my married name in all the other forms. I couldn't really find a good answer to why and so on here.. but maybe that's just me that doesn't get how to search properly :D

Anyways.. why have they put my maiden name?

Should i still sign with my married name?

Do we have to do anything else than to fill in the DS-230 later on, that mentions both names?

  5. It's kinda hard to say if you're gonna be able to manage on that amount of money or not. It does sound too little to me (I'm a big spender tho), but like you said, you're use to live cheap so you could be fine :)

My first trip to the states was with my best friend in 2009. We stayed for almost 3 months. We only brought $100 cash with us since we didn't want to run around with a lot of cash on us. And you can pay with your Visa or get cash in the ATM for about a $2-3 fee each time.

Anyways, going thru the customs was the easiest thing ever. The guy was the nicest one I've had so far. He was talking to us both at the same time, joking saying "Oh, two young swedes on vacation in California can only mean trouble! Have a great trip!!". Didn't ask anything about how much money we had.

My two other trips has been to visit my, at the time, boyfriend. Went for 1-2 months. I was just honest and said I was visiting family and friends. They asked what family. I said my boyfriend. They asked for his name and where he worked. I didnt bring cash at all, and they never asked about my money. None of the times have I had any documents to show I'm bound to Sweden. Only my return ticket.

I don't understand where your worry comes from :) Relax!! And good luck!

  6. Hi all VJrs!

My hubby and I are a bit confused. We have received two RFE's. The first one came on the 14th of February - talk about ruining the mood on Valentines day... ;( It was requesting a Marriage Certificate. But we had sent in the document equal to that, since Sweden doesn't have specific Marriage certificates. So after this, I got a hold of two more documents that state that we are married and that the government has registered it. We sent in our respond. And on the 20th of March we got another RFE, requesting the same thing! Hubbs called USCIS asking what document they want since we have given them all the ones we could possibly think of. The guy he got to talk to said that we needed a document from either the government or the wedding officiant stating that Sweden doesn't have specific Marriage Certificates. So I got the wedding officiant to write one for us and sent it off to my husband. The same day he received my mail he also received two emails (I-130 & I-129F) from USCIS saying:

    "

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The last processing action taken on your case

    Receipt Number: WAC**********

Application Type: I130 , IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity

On March 30, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

    "

Is this even possible??? That they approve a petition while they have sent out an RFE? Could it have anything to do with the phone call?

Still waiting to see if there comes a NOA2 in the mail, but just thought we could ask you guys meanwhile :)

    Look forward to your thoughts!!
