  1. Found a CS in Reno (1 1/2 hours drive from home) this morning that did complete medical exam for $99, blood tests and all. Our AOS appointment is at 1PM in Sacramento on Thursday so we can stop by the clinic in Reno on Thursday morning at 9AM, have the TB test checked. If TB is OK they will hand us all of the paperwork for I-693 and vacs supplement to I-693 and then we can head to Sacramento with everything in hand for the AOS interview. TOO MUCH DRIVING!!! TOO MANY INS HOOPS TO JUMP THRU. Whole thing is a big pain in the butt. I really pity the people who don't understand the English Language very well and try to do this.

  2. You came in on a K1... did they specifically ask for a new medical for the AOS interview? Or just the vaccination supplement? Or did your K1 medical expire.

    :time:

Been one and a half years since since my wife came in on a K1 visa. Almost 2 years since the medical exam in her home country, Thailand.

Notice to appear for initial interview has bring the following items.

A completed medical examination (Form I-693) and vaccination supplement in a sealed envelope (unless already submitted).

  3. Here's the situation. AOS interview is in 3 days. We have everything but we haven't had the medical examination yet. Will try to do it tomorrow but that will be too late to get the TB results and probably too late to get blood test (HIV and Syphilis) results. What should we do?

I'd for sure go and get the medical done ASAP and ask for the paperwork to be completed ASAP before your interview. Take what you can (i.e. evidence that you've had it done) to the interview. They might just ask you to fax them the results of the immunizations when they are done OR to hand in the complete medical when it is done. If they choose to approve your application for AOS, it will likely be conditional on submitting the medical.

That's my thought, I could be completely wrong. You should have gone to have the medical done much sooner.

Would have done it sooner but we have been dealing with my mother passing away recently.

  4. I called the USCIS disinformation/misinformation line today and was told by someone that I would have to file form I-824 Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition. The cost to file is $200.00, $30.00 more the the orginal cost of $170.00 filing fee for the I-129f and I will have to wait for 5 months to get it.

USCIS sure is F**ked up. Costs more and takes just as long to get the NOA2 copy as it did to get the K-1 visa in the first place. I will try to call USCIS where the petion was orginally processed tomorrow.

Just to add to how stupid the whole thing is I-824 requires that you include the receipt number for the orginal K-1 visa NOA2 plus the approval date. How am I supposed to know these when I don't have the orginal document anymore????

  5. Here's my question. My wife will not be working or traveling outside the US while we are waiting for the AOS/Permanent resisdence statis/temp green card. Do I need to submit and pay for the I-765, Application for Employment Authorization and the I-131, Application for Travel Document?? My understanding is that when the temp green card arrives my wife will be able to work in the US and travel outside the US. Am I understanding this correctly?
