Hello all ,

Just want to encourage those that want to travel especially to Nigeria but are scared to use the EAD/AP. My husband just used it and it works We had no issues at the airport in Naija. When we got back to the U.S they held him in immigration for a bit, because there was a queue but they paroled him back into the states with no problems

Just writing this as I know one naija member on here who tried to use it last year I think her name was Floxy and they didn't recognize the card and gave her a hard time and she had to fly from a different country just to get back to the states.

Email the embassy lagosIV@state.gov with your LGS number from NVC and your fiances name in the subject line. Let them know that your case has been forwarded and youve been asked to contact them for the needed paperwork. They will reply your email like the one olatunde sent above then you go pay the fee, make sure your passport is valid and schedule online with the link they provided.

I need advice from my fellow VJ members. The Nigeria embassy had emailed me to startt my processing. Should I schedule my interview before getting my medical and police report or get those documents before scheduling interview? How long does this medical and police reports takes before they become ready?? how long does it takes the medical examination and police report to expire? Must you schedule interview immediately you paid at GTBank or you can hold on to the receipt and schedule anytime you want?

Please i will be happy if anyone can put me through this questions.

Everything that dwheels said and also, you can schedule anytime you want but know that if you schedule now the date available will probably be 3-4months out anyway. So if you go to schedule now youre probably looking at September or October being available now. So if you wait those dates start to become unavailable.

Yea they used to but there is a new process. When they email you they will tell you to go GTB bank and make a payment if you look at a thread I posted maybe 2 months ago you'll find the language in the email they sent me. My fiancé has already paid and we scheduled our interview.

All you can do is to keep calling NVC to see if this there. You can also call USCIS speak to a teir 2 officer and ask them if your docs have actually left their office. I was approved 2/14 and my docs sat there for over two weeks before it was sent to NVC.

Once NVC has it they do their checks assign an LGS # then send it to the embassy. The usually dont hold it for long.

Once it reaches the embassy email the embassy and they will reply you with the documents needed and how you have to go the bank make the payment and use the receipt number and schedule on online.

they sent me my interview date by mail and i was ask to pay 240 to embassy... what do u think about that ?????

Not sure why you continue to ask us as its clearly not applicable to you since you got your date in Feb. This is a new process for us. Everyone is trying to figure it out. So call the embassy and ask

For K1 the interview will be scheduled by the embassy, if you are waiting for an interview date, send an email to lagosIV@state.gov with the beneficiary"s name and case number to ask for a date..... As for the fees it will be paid at the embassy.

Hi Winne George the process has changed recently for K1. I wrote a post about the email i recieved the other day. They will no longer give you the date by email. You have to schedule it yourself like the other non immigrant visas once you go to the bank. The k1 process has changed and this has been confirmed by the embassy.

K1 is NOT an immigrant visa. It's a non-immigrant visa.

Kazulie, yes it is a non-immigrant visa but naija embassy has been treating it as an immigrant visa like they confirmed when I called and like Tisheff said the bank considers it an immigrant visa because it wasnt listed in the non-immigrant category with the naija embassy before. Even when you go to the ustraveldocs website and sign up and you're are about to schedule your date, it falls under the "immigrant" section.

I remember responding to this same question from you on my thread. You already got an appointment date. Like I suggested before when Im assuming the change went into effect after you got an interview date. If you want, maybe you should call the embassy directly to confirm you date and that you should bring the money that day.

Also Anita, you got your interview date sometime in February so this all may not apply to you

Great news!From reading the reviews from other great naija VJ members interveiw can be anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour. You should go to the Embassy linmk at the top, click Nigeria and go to the link that says consulate reviews which people tell their experience at the Lagos embassy and the questions they were asked and what to expect. Lagos is a tough embassy because of fraud so your fiance should be prepared. There is alot of good information on here just look around.

When I got the email I thought it was a mistake as well, you can read the post I created a few days ago. The same day I called the Embassy around this time at 23414603400 and the guy said yes the process has recently changed that k1s no longer bring payment to the interview but pay at the bank and schedule their own interviews like all other non-immigrant visas since the k1 is technically a non-immigrant. Hope this helps

Hmmm that is a problem. You should probably call the embassy early tomorrow morning and see what they say because thats just ridiculous. Maybe one should take the email and show it to the bank. I dont know. Here are the numbers I got from the embassy info page.(234)-1-261-5697 or (234)-1-261-5699

In case no one picks up any of the first set of numbers, try:

ITs not a mistake as I recieved the same email and I actually called them to make sure if the process has changed for k1 and it did. You have to pay at the bank now and use your receipt # and passport information when logging into the website. You can also call them just to make sure. I have not done mine yet for a different reason but will soon.

Did you go to the bank? if so, What did the bank tell you?

I think there is conflicting information because just weeks ago or last month the old process for k1 was to bring the money to the interview so I guess they havent updated their docs from the packet as the one I got is dated may 2012

This is now possible. You are now able to select your own interview date for K1's through the ustravel docs portal once you recieve your email from embassy and pay the fee at GTB bank.

Hi Anita, from your timeline I cant tell when you recieved the email but this process must have gone into effect after yours because they have already scheduled your appointment. But you can all them just to confirm.

ok guys, so apparently this process has been in place for other non-immigrant visas but not in place for the k1 as it was being treated as an immigrant visa. So now the process has been changed for k1. Once you pay you can go online and schedule your interview. Not applicable for the cr-1 though as i believe nvc still sets the appointment date

Hey guys, so confused right now. From what Ive been reading I was meant to know that lagos embassy gives you the interview date for the k1 visa in an mail so i emailed them and I got the below response:

" The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos is ready to begin final processing of your approved K1 visa petition. Kindly request your fiancé/fiancée (the applicant) to visit any branch of Guaranty Trust Bank PLC in Nigeria to pay the K1 visa processing fee of $240.

With the payment receipt number, the applicant can visit our website at http://www.ustraveldocs.com to schedule a K1 visa interview appointment. The applicant must print the interview appointment confirmation, which should be presented upon arrival at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos on the appointment/interview date"

From what ive been reading I havent seen anyone having to go online and schedule their k1 interview. Is this a new thing?

Congratulation and good luck for the interview...We are still waiting for decision I mean, email form the embassy for the interview...we filed the papers last September 21,2012...Hopefully by next month we will hear a result from the NVC and consulate....Do you have any idea when can i have my interview? if so, please don't hesitate to send me back a message...thank you and good luck..
