  1. Yes, if the account is in your name, that should suffice. I don't think you'd need 10 months' worth, just the most recent statement.

Asset would just mean the textbook definition:

property owned by a person or company, regarded as having value and available to meet debts, commitments, or legacies.

So if you had gold coins, or a car (that you didn't need) or real estate, etc.

yes it is in my name

  2. From the instructions https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864instr.pdf

So if you have proof that you have assets that exceed 125% of the poverty line in your state, then yes, you should provide that and (according to the instructions) it should suffice.

Does bank statement count I have prepared last 10 months bank statement and also applied a immigration letter from chase bank

and I am little confused about the word assets too

    thank you for your time

  3. hey guys little help I received this

We reviewed the Affidavit of Support documentation you sent to the National Visa Center

(NVC). According to the current poverty guidelines, it does not appear you or any of your

sponsors meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrant(s)

for this petition. To avoid delays, you may have an additional sponsor complete an

Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) and provide it to the intending immigrant to submit at

their interview. At that time, a consular officer will make a decision regarding this

    requirement.

the interview will take place in china

I am making $12000 a year right now so as the poverty requires I am $8025 short on the affidavit of support and I don't have a joint sponsor

I do have about $70000 in saving account

my question is can I use the saving account money as asset will my wife have problem getting her visa if we don't have a joint sponsor thank you

  4. Thank you for the quick reply

as I mentioned on my post I am short $8025 between the poverty guidelines and my income so 8025X3=$ 24075 and I have about $70000 in my saving account I have more than enough so I should be okay

also I have prepared a employment verification letter for my wife's interview and I am going to make a explanation letter for my self why I don't have enough income for the AOS becuase I have spend 1/2 year in china without working

will these be good or too much

    thank you for your time

    Hi,

Unless your savings meet the requirements listed on the AOS, you must with no doubt get a joint sponsor, or obtain some other source of income that will meet the requirement. See below quotes extrated from the Affidavit of Support form.

The total value of all assets, line 10, must equal 5 times (3 times for spouses and children of
USC's, or 1 time for orphans to be formally adopted in the U.S.) the difference between the

poverty guidelines and the sponsor's household income, line 10

Part 7. Use of Assets to Supplement Income
    (Optional)
    Only complete
    Part 7.
if you need to use the value of assets to meet the income requirements. If your Current
    Annual
    Household Income (indicated on
    Part 6.
    ,
    Item Number 15.
) is equal to or more than needed to meet the income
requirement as shown by the current Federal Poverty Guidelines (Form I-864P) for your household size (indicated on
    Part 5.
    ,
    Item Number 8.
), you do not need to complete this
    Part
. If your total household income does not meet the
requirement, you may submit evidence of the value of your assets, the sponsored immigrant’
    s assets, and/or assets of a
household member that can be used, if necessary, for the support of the intending immigrant(s). The value of assets of all
of these persons may be combined in order to meet the necessary requirement.
Only assets that can be converted into cash within one year and without considerable hardship or financial loss to the
owner may be included. The owner of the asset must include a description of the asset, proof of ownership, and the basis

for the owner’s claim of its net cash value

  6. Lots of useful info on the NVC threads. But you can mail the documents from wherever you want. Main thing is they get to the NVC. Since the NVC stage is all about the beneficiary, the documents are usually sent by the beneficiary to the NVC from overseas.

There are things you can do to speed up or slow down the NVC stage. You have more control over it than the USCIS I-130 stage.

Take a look at the NVC wiki on this site. It's very useful.

    Thank you for the reply

I have read the NVC wiki and found out that I could do the electronic processing but seems a lot work to do than the mailing paper documents.and do you have an idea on how much time the electronic processing method will save compare to paper

and also when the interview date is set will my wife get a notice by mail in china or I will get a notice here in the states.

thank you and sorry for so many questions

  7. I have been on this forum for a few months now and got a lot of useful information for my I-130 and I just want to share my timeline hope to help somebody

Priority date is October 8th 2015

got approval notice via text message on April 13th 2016 and I am still waiting the hard copy notice to be arrived at my house

but the meantime I have booked my air ticket to china to see my wife for a month before the NVC Stage

does anyone know Can I send my documents and AOS from China or it must be filed in the United States

and how long does the NVC stage gonna take

    thank you

  8. Our interview experience...

We arrived about 30 mins before the scheduled time. Passed thro' metal detectors, our interview letter was collected and in about 10 mins our names were called. Only my spouse was allowed to go-in.

Went thro' all the questions from N-400, asked if we were married all the while? separated anytime? filed taxes jointly?..did not ask to see any of the supporting documents we carried.

    Following questions were asked:

    1. What do we call the first ten amendments to the Constitution?

    2. Name of the speaker of the house of Representatives?

    3. Who lived in American before the Europeans arrived?

    4. When was the Declaration of Independence adopted?

    5. Name one of the two longest rivers in the US?

    6. Why does the flag have 13 stripes?

and followed by a short written test.

Received form N-652 and a note that "A decision cannot yet be made about your application"

I guess we just have to wait now.

you said we went to the uscis office did you mean you and your spouse have to go there together or your the one that has to be interviewed
